  • Tortilla de Patatas or either known as Spanish Omelette or Tortilla Española
    is a traditional dish from Spain which is made with basic simple ingredients like eggs potatoes and onion. The potatoes and onion are cooked in extra- virgin olive oil until tender but not brown. The potatoes are then drained and mixed with whisked eggs, returned to the pan and cooked again on both sides in little oil until golden brown. Some like it more runny, some like it more dry, it’s totally up to you. It is simply delicious and a crowd pleaser.

    Finally, a spanish omelette that is actually a spanish omelette, I was tired of watching americans doing weird omelettes and calling that "spanish omelette". There are some ways to make it (with or without onion, rare, medium or very cooked) but you just made my personal favourite.

    • @Nocturne22
      @Nocturne22 5 лет назад

      'Spanish omelette' means something different in America: it's an omelet with certain fillings, not like what this is. It's not weird, just different.

    • @MrTigershark11
      @MrTigershark11 4 года назад +2

      @@Nocturne22 Actually that the Americans appropriate traditional dishes from other countries and then change their meaning or their ingredients is weird. I mean, you can call an omelette with fillins well, "that filling" omelette, but not spanish omelette.
      Maybe you mean that potato omelette is enough to be called spanish one but I've seen "spanish omelette" with pepper and more stuff that what the hell was that.
      Dishes have a story and a meaning, in every country and if we use that dish name to name some things that are not that dish, the meaning gets lost over time...

      yes... you can try a different version.. you must use a nonstick pan... it is essential...use just a bit of oil like 2-3 tablespoons.. and a bit of water to create steam.. cover with a lid.. and cook stirring constantly until potatoes are cooked through and water is evaporated... from here you can continue with adding eggs

En resumen, como siempre la cocina española creando y popularizando sus platos y los caraduras de siempre intentando apropiarse de la cultura gastronómica española, apropiación cultural se llama eso. Que a estas alturas se ponga en duda que uno de los clásicos españoles es español es realmente patético.
