Your're very right about listening to music how you want to listen to it. There is no wrong way. To be honest, the fact that you do count sort of adds to your personality, given your musical background. As a musician myself, I count right along with you. And if Im being completely honest, I like YOUR style of reviewing as well as how entertaining and informative you are with your reviews, thats alot of why I enjoy what you do.
    Great work, David!

As someone who doesn't know anything about time signatures, I enjoy watching you counting and trying to figure things out. I like hearing/seeing the input of someone with more knowledge. It helps to understand the song more and appreciate it even more. This and The Pot are tied for first for my favorite songs off of 10,000 days. I love Adam Jones' pull-off technique for the main riff and Justin's bass effects and tone are great.

The kinesthetic response is critical to musical appreciation: you have to move your body in some way in order to "enter" the music. The stereotype is toe-tapping. Dance is the most socially-accepted way. There are people who privately enjoy classical music by acting as the orchestra conductor as it plays. Maybe the most subtle way to move to the music is breathing to it. "Rhythm" is perhaps the most transcendental of the basic elements of music in that you don't need sound to experience it.

I found your channel because I love the counting aspects and most reactions don't dive into that. I'm a huge fan of the band and love playing the songs but struggle to lock into some of the time signatures and meters. You have definitely helped a lamen like me understand and also find subdivisions and figure out multiple ways to count based on what feels right to me.
It's fitting that many Tools songs are lyrically written vaguely and open to interpretation and it's awesome that even the instrumental aspects of certain songs can also be felt or interpreted differently depending on the listener.
    Thank man, appreciate the videos!

On the point of counting: yeah, being a drummer, we do count stuff through, even the much crazier jazzy stuff. HOWEVER, as with tool...honestly, I have listened to these songs a hundred times. So, when I might drum along, say, Lateralus, I really don't need to count numbers any more. I sync in and just let the hands do their work, on their own. Moreover, I'm quite sure Tool go about it like that themselves. That alone should give u an indication of how often they must have practiced/played these songs so that they sound like they do.

There are plenty of other reactors who don't count they can go and watch . Keep counting brother it adds another dimension to the reaction and shows the complexity of the music , especially when you freak out how they switch it up on you.

One of the reasons I like wstching reaction videos of songs by poeple who has sone degree of music theory knowledge is because for people who os trying to lesr about it its easier to relate whit someone that is trying to lesr about music theory and it really changes the way of enjoying muisc and how sone musician inovate on music, good video keep it up and sorry for me english jajajs

Had a college friend - a music major - who echoed your sentiments on how he listens (though he had the advantage of the Internet only being for nerds then, so no one trashed him for it). He did say that sometimes he wished he could keep his technical thoughts from coming into his mind, but I liked learning to see the genius behind the compositions we would jam to together, just as you and a few other 'Tubers do (you're not the only one, and there are some who do just go on visceral feel so the haters can go watch them). Do it YOUR way and rock on! As 311 said, "F the naysayers 'cause they don't mean a thing."

The original video was in claymation and it’s about conjoined twist who get separated and realize they were empty so they asked to be seen back together

I can't believe someone wouldn't want you to count for tool time sigs. As someone who didn't, originally hearing everything from tool for years, jumping to that makes me appreciate it so much more. Polys, trips. I'm not even sure what's what yet but I know it's even more interesting because of that.
