In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.
The most unexpected thing about this task was Richard Osman not winning it.
He even had an Unexpected Flying Object.
Richard Osman not winning the whole series was pretty unexpected
@@NotHarpoGroucho I may be biased because he’s pretty much my favorite TM contestant ever… but Richard 100% should have won his series.
Honestly was expecting someone to burst through the screen. Imagine how unexpected it would be to see only a bowling ball, slowly watching it get hoisted back away, and suddenly go flying towards the camera, though the silhouette screen, and into the faces of the audience. Quite quite a scare that would.
Are you ok?
Well actually no. The task is to make an unexpected silhouette. If someone did burst through the screen it would be unexpected but it wouldn't be a silhouette now would it.
thank you for including the full task and scoring this time
06:06 John Richardson is wrong.
It is sadder to see a person standing looking down at a scoop of ice cream on the floor - which used to be in the cone in their hand.
On the bright side, it's not on their pants
A tiny duckling being eaten by a massive rat. To me that's a sadder sight.
Novices. Look up "saddest thing achewood".
@@MrCh0o every cloud :-)
@@MrCh0o but the cone is, for some reason, _in_ their pants.
Doc was such an underrated contestant. I thought he was great
It was cool but it wasn't unexpected. When you saw what he was using, it was pretty obvious what the silhouette would be.
@@beeble2003 I mean they showed all Doc's objects already set up and ready to go. If they'd done that with Richard's, I feel Greg would've been able to guess it.
@@AngeliqueVoices That's a good point. There's still a difference in that Doc was basically using all the objects as themselves, whereas Richard was using most of them more creatively. But I agree that the editing made Doc's attempt look worse than it was.
@@AngeliqueVoices If Greg had taken some seconds to look at Joe's setup at 3:24 he could have guessed that too. When he handed out the points he just wanted to give Jon the 5 points and Doc only 1 for whatever reason. Catherine's silhouette really looked like the Lion King and was totally unexpected after seeing the items first.
I love TM but sometimes it's a bit BS ;)
Any other season and he would have been a front runner, this one was just totally stacked. A blast to watch even though it was short.
I'm surprised no one jumped and Kissed Alex as soon as they read "Something Unexpected"
Or maybe a siluete of THE SPANISH INQUISITION
(Nobody expects them)
My only two ideas
I would have stood there and said final answer.
Bet he wasn't expecting me to practically give up.
I would have just used myself and Alex to make a silhouette of us apparently kissing
I would've said "Sorry in advance" and when he "Sorry for what?" then actually kiss him. I'm male btw.
If John’s was in French, obnoxious art film cinephiles would be lecturing us on how it deserved the Palm d’Or.
Most Unexpected Task has the Most Unexpected Score Too!
Katherine knows what she's doing in the beginning
they did richard dirty
This had me smiling through the entire task xD
I kept waiting for someone to create some representation of the Spanish inquisition.. coz, you know..
Their chief weapons are surprise, shadows and a fanatical devotion to the Pope.
@@beeble2003 and ruthless creativity. Errm.. I'll come in again
A formal letter in advance too let you know they're coming, thus meaning everyone expected the Spainish Inquisition.
@@someonefourth You may not leave the lab! (Well, OK, this task wouldn't have worked in this case but... Welp, that joke ruined by over-explanation.)
If Rhod was on the task, we'd get a reenactment, too
ah nuh i lost ma balloon
does anyone know the song used in Joe's video?
Why the fuck do we not have this show in the states? I could be on it and finally add meaning to my life dammit! I'd not be funny persey, but I'd definitely make people laugh. I'd be the comic, comic relief.
Lion King should have won
Katherine would have done better if she didn't just giggle all the way through.
Moon Truth should have won. No contest. It was funny, recognizable, and very unexpected.
Not to mention historically accurate.
true..it waa brilliant......but greg being the ass he is and his soft side for doublemeanings chose john's lol
yeah but nothing beats PENISES
And therefore expectable.
Shame Rhod Gilbert wasn’t let loose on this one. Fairly sure he would’ve asked Alex to expose himself.
Not very unexpected though. :p
Nah, he'd somehow get Greg's mum involved.
That wouldn't be unexpected though - he would have asked to expose Alex
This is Rhod we're talking about, the key word is "Unexpected"
HAAA!
To me the winner was unexpected as well
Yes. Greg obviously forgot the rules and got carried away by Jon's manhood.
Osman was robbed lol
Absolutely
uhhh the fact the silhouette had a full on erection was easily the most surprising entry... what are you all even talking about? xd
@@Kazza_8240 nah
I've come to recognise that Greg has a soft spot for stories.
Makes sense. He taught drama and English for a number of years before becoming a comedian
When he asks you to drill down into the narrative, you’d better be prepared
Richard Osman deserves all the points imo
He was hosed on this task, it's obvious he should have been the winner.
@@mphays for real, I said this elsewhere too but he should have won this series.
Sometimes the taskmaster makes decisions that genuinely piss me off. The moon one was far and way the best of them. The balloon one was second worst.
Womp womp
I like that he made Greg into the astronaut even though it didn't matter once he became a silhouette
Am I the only one who thought Katherine did really well? To fashion a scene out of the Lion King out of all these household objects, that's really creative and craftly.
To be fair, and this isn't to detract from the overall creativity in display, if she hadn't told us at the beginning it was outtakes from the lion king, we'd have no fucking clue what the heck was going on. 😂
It's a shame that this season only got only 5 episodes!! I miss Joe and Richard's son
How to make it unexpected: Don't use the objects shown
This was probably the most stacked cast for a Taskmaster season. All of them were awesome.
"To be fair, "all of them were awesome" is something i've personally found applicable to all the last couple of seasons.
Tbf this was definitely the worst cast on TM ever
@@iamwatchingu6678 nah s6 takes that title in my books
@@iamwatchingu6678 insane take, honestly.
Fully disagree. Still dislike Doc and Jon for not allowing that potato throw. Just shows how unnecessarily competitive they are
How I thought it was going to go was them getting a bunch of stuff and making a silhouette of something else, like say in some horror movies where they think they see the killer's silhouette but it is just a broom and whatnot in a closet while the killer is actually right behind them. I was thinking that it would be more like that, use a bunch of objects that make it look like something it isn't.
yeah, like they show the silhouette first, not the objects.
Finally someone understood the task properly.
Yeah... that literally was the task...
Joe's was more expected than Doc's IMO, if they had just shown all the components as clearly as they showed Docs instead of an obscure angle hiding the face.
Greg is all over the place with his judgement some times...
I feel like they intentionally make Richard loose bc he would win the whole series! I never knew him before this shaw and it’s obvious this man is pretty smart, and creative!
He’s also a bestselling author!
Richard was robbed here.
I don't often disagree with Greg but Moon Truth will forever be the winner in my heart💖😂
Bad sign for my early dementiaed mind that I have literally no memory of this episode.
I've noticed that I had this feeling while watching clips from this season they've started sharing recently and maybe it is the first time we've been seeing them?
I don’t but that’s only because I’ve watched it at least twice not including the clips, so I’m kind of on another fomented end of it I guess?
Definitely haven't seen it either, I think it's one of the episodes that weren't available in my country (and I couldn't have been bothered to circumvent the block at a time)
Especially since you saw it only yesterday. On the plus side, you're not paranoid. We really are watching you.
I had to go back to watch the balloon one again to understand the "fully tumescent" and "I made that erotic" comments. Wow.
What does John say after he says “ oh no, I lost my balloon”?
"but I came here to lose my balloon"
@@mania.v plot twist! 😆
Jon’s best work ….Can’t wait for him to be on the podcast .
I can't believe he attacked a deer! I'm shitting and crying
This is what happens when you watch TM on your phone on the loo, after eating at Taco Bell.
God, everyone/thing looks so much sexier in silhouette.
It feels weird seeing them all so close together in the studio now
And Alex still alive and all.
@@googiegress Er, yes, Alex has been alive continuously since September 1978...
@@beeble2003 In our hearts :(
@@beeble2003 I hear he has been growing vigorously for many of those years. Such a charming fellow!
The attack on the moon was quite fu nny😂😂
Richard's is funny, but I get why it didn't win. Once you see the moon, you know it's going to be a silly aliens attack joke.
"Make an unexpected" anything feels like it should be Joe's to win!
this one really highlights how arbitrary these scores can get 😆
I still want to know what was the relevance of Katherine using food dye in a black and white silhouette?
the shape of the dye bottle was part of the silhouette, most likely.
just saw Richard's silhouette and I don't need to see the other ones. The rest can't top this one!
Recency bias taking full effect here
Greg completely threw away the specifications of the task when marking this. John's was the 2nd most unsurprising of the lot.
Can’t believe no one cut out the word ‘unexpected’ and made that the silhouette
lion king shouldve scored higher that was unexpected as hell
Finally starting to read the comments I see. Thanks for including the full task, scores included.
I would’ve faked kissing Alex 😂😂😂
“Faked”. Mmmmhm.
I'd love to live in the Taskmaster house. I know where it is. Does anybody know its history?
_"If you expect the unexpected, isn't the expected unexpected?"_
I mean if you see a deer and you want to see an unexpected shadow, the silhouette of the deer is unexpected, ain't it? :D
the laughing kind of creeps me out, is it a track, or do people actually laugh in segmented bursts like that?
The sound mixers on this show need to chill. There's no reason to crank the audience sounds up to 11.
This RUclips channel is underrated
You’re right. The Bandits are underrated!
DorA was referring to the official Taskmaster channel, not us. Thank you though.
Alex looks like Abraham Lincoln on a coin.
Don Hartzfeld would like a word with you
Do deformed rabbit, it's my favorite!
Idk if they’ve done this yet but they should totally have a task to recreate the intro music
The compilation of each player's silhouette shows how tall Richard is
Why some of your long episodes are not available in Australia?
Get a VPN xx
Was this aired? I don’t remember this task. Did I miss an episode?
Season 2 Episode 3. Just the least memorable task from the episode, I think. Overwritten by the mayor bit and "buy a prize for the taskmaster"
Jon was actually fully in his one. It was to scale.
Am I the only one that thought Alex looked like Abraham Lincoln on the American penny when he was behind the curtain
Well The Winner Was Unexpected To Me For Sure...
Because He Was Terrible...
I was expecting far more silhouettes of genitalia. But then again, that would have been the very opposite of unexpected.
Alex's profile is honestly pretty similar to Abraham Lincoln's, so maybe he should be on the penny.
The moon one was the best.
But was it the most _unexpected_?
Upon seeing helmet, figurine... and then a silhouette of the moon landing... is it that unexpected that Aliens arrive?
Vs.
Upon seeing balloon and figurine... and balloon departing... silhouette spouts an erection and declares that as its intent all along?
Sad no-one made a massive boaby, but I guess the whole idea of the thing is to make something unexpected...
This one seemed like a big fix. Maybe they had money on it. No way should he have won.
I saw the Lion King one before they even revealed it.....
The journey of a boy to manhood just happened for John last Thursday, from what I hear.
Richard was the best.
But a doll with a stiffy winning seems fair enough
5:40 😂😂😂😂
Alex looks like Abe Lincoln in profile
Moon truth
This was a really terrible year at the oscars
I was waiting for one of them to kiss alex
Who, how, what?! Somethings going on there. Jon couldn't have won that.
🤣😂🤣😂
How in the hell did the balloon one win
How have I not seen this before???
That classics degree giving us joy
8 out of 10 cats does TaskMaster
How did the moon now win that!!!
I thought the goal was after seeing the silhouette l, that you couldn't guess what was behind, same as the contestants thought
And Richard still should have won
Jon is easily my favourite from that season but Richard should have won no question
The balloon won? Wtf
Did Joe use a specific song? If so, does anyone know what it was?
No but lmk if u find it
I’ve got a question…. for you.
I have the same dustbin lid as that.
typo: i this task
My first thought was to just kiss Alex after reading the task that surely would have been unexpected
Mine too. But then I realized that by thinking someone would consider that, it isn't as unexpected as I initially thought.
@@brch2 Alex wouldn’t have expected it.
Thirteen series later, you got your wish. Sort of
Literally the worst task I have ever seen. Damn it was fun to watch them fail!
Which episode is this from?
Taskmaster Series 2 episode 3 “A Pistachio Eclair”.
Anyone hear Jimmy Carr's laugh at 6:20?
Your description is wrong
