In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion. Приколы
The Woz vaulting over a fence to chase the balloon is just so iconic.
It was like a whole super hero sequence, phone booth quick change almost included😂
Hey all. Scott here.
Any man who can hop a fence in a suit is a man worthy of respect.
I think Mike should’ve gotten a bonus point for the sheer dedication to the task
You mean sneer dedication?
Surely he deserved to get multiple bonus points as he tried the best method.
I think he should've just won outright since Jamali's was not by any means hovering!
Mike hunting down the balloon is one of the most impressive things I've seen on Taskmaster.
Wozniak did so good there. The fact that Lee and Charlotte didn't even think to go under some sort of roof is kinda interesting, classic limited by where you received the task mentality.
Kathryn Parkinson
@@thejintymyster6396 Katherine Parkinson was on the Richard Herring series, not this one. That was Charlotte Ritchie.
@@YoJesusMorales I know I was just making a point about contestants who thought they were limited to the room they read the task in
@@thejintymyster6396 Oh yeah, definitely, but Lee has seen quite a bit of the show though. I think Charlotte also saw a bit of it before recording. Katherine just didn't know what she was getting into.
Hopping over a fence and catching a runaway balloon in eight minutes is actually amazing
Charlotte and Lee were doomed to fail as soon as they read the task- Lee couldn't find it and Charlotte couldn't untie it
Lee had a chance if he slowly cut out the sponge to reduce its weight. But its going to be hard trying to get the exact weight.
If Lee had just kept the sponge on the balloon and torn a few chunks from it, he would have nailed it.
He had the best approach of any of them, if he'd just grabbed some scissors and took the thought to its conclusion
@@StonetheDestroyer42 Didn't Mike use the same principle?
@@Nesuniken He did! But the sponge was especially brilliant because he could quickly and easily modify its mass without removing it from the balloon, if he'd thought to. Props to Mike for grabbing the perfect counterweight, though. He would have been a little slower than Lee if they both had to alter the weight, though, I think.
@@StonetheDestroyer42 Ah, I see now
@@StonetheDestroyer42I think that what Lee was trying to, or about to do when he let go
Sticking a balloon on something doesn't make it hover. It makes it stick.
Mike Wozniak should've won that task imo, since he was the only one who properly made the balloon hover.
Wozniak certainly had the most impressive performance, but he tethered his balloon to something! I think he got off lucky
@@kaddish921 It wasn't tethered down though, which I'm pretty sure is what was meant.
The dictionary definition of "tethered" specifies attaching something to a rope or chain, so Mike is in the clear. (They all were on that requirement, including Jamali, though his might not have been a hover.) But there's also the distinction that a tether restricts movement, and Mike's balloon could have been moved infinitely in any direction if led.
@@StonetheDestroyer42 the dictionary definition of hover is remain in one place in the air. I would argue that Jamalis balloon remained in one place in the air
@@izPanda_ Oh, he's the true semantic champion then!
Now I only count by going "1 sneery sneery, 2 sneery sneery"
'sorry, I thought you was going to call it. That's 45 seconds.'
😂 😂
The sneering addition to this task makes it go from "funny physics problem" to "fantastic comedic potential." That feels like the Taskmaster approach.
to measure the weight perfectly you can use a rope. Tie it to the balloon and drop it on the floor, Ballon will pick up some of the rope, cut it where it stops picking it up and it will be hovering.
Mike Wozniak's "greek dance" and the chase was gold!
The static cling to the hair was hilarious!
Mike deserved an extra point for that level of dedication
he deserved the win for Jamali's not hovering!
How does Jamali get points when he was just holding it? Was Greg not gonna argue if someone just held it out in their hands? "My hands aren't a tether!"
For real, I don't know why they just accepted his claim that sticking a balloon under his sweater counts as hovering.
I agree with you but thats the beauty of this show... its all completely subjective!
It wasn't tethered, because a tether involves a rope or a chain! Now, the hovering bit is a different story...
@@StonetheDestroyer42 so you agree then that holding it with your arms would not be a tether.....? btw I want to sell you some bridges
@@IrregularPineapples It doesn't match the definition of the word. Words have specific meanings, and we really need to stop trying to apply new meanings to real words.
"You look like a department head at a local council who's just been fired" is such a brilliant line. Deserved a better reception in the studio. The lack of live audience in this series caused a few issues with joke delivery and timing.
Greg is so stingy with his bonus points. Mike should have won that for sheer spirit
should have won for Jamali's not hovering!
@@just-tess Also, the bottom of Jamali's baloon was clearly lower than his waist. Evident because he stuck the balloon under something tied around his waist.
I can’t believe nobody just let the balloon float underneath a table or something, that’s the first thing to come to my head
That's kinda what Charlotte did by holding the task paper above the balloon, I don't know if it's really hovering.
yeah that's definitely not hovering. a balloon against the ceiling is not hovering either - floating sure, but not hovering. Jamali's wasn't hovering either, Mike was robbed!
@taskmaster - love the show! (aussie living in Toronto, Canada). But how did you not give Mike extra points for retrieving the balloon?! The bravery, the athleticism, the commitment, his resolve in the phone booth etc, I could go on, that was shown by this man deserves some sort of trophy in his name! No? 🏆🙏😂
I’m currently in the addiction phase for @taskmaster right now. Haha So good!
TM's gotten stingy with bonus points since he cracked down on strict task following too, but that should've meant Jamali's didn't count and Mike won outright!
I have a T-Shirt of Mike's fence jump on
Damn, this task is a bitch and a half for semantics.
Nevertheless, Woz definitely deserved some bonus points
he deserved an outright win! whether it rules out tethering or hovering, that sweater was obviously holding the balloon in place
Mike is my fucking hero for still having his child like energy and recovering that balloon
Mike should have won, he's the only one who came close to actually making it hover.
I think take the balloon indoors where there is no wind to conend with.
The sponge could have been a good approach, fine tuning the weight by repeatedly removing tiny amounts at a time and re-testing.
You'll never get it balanced perfectly. But you could get it to a point where it's slow enough of a rise or fall to stay withing the bounds for 20 seconds.
8:50 It's Mike as Mr. bean! 😂😂
Seemed to me like Jamali was anxiously waiting for an argument about his "hovering" so he could get angry; his glum expression after he wins the task is priceless, he literally looks like a frowny face emoji :( A surly, aggressive dude. Meanwhile, Wozniak steals my heart as ever :)
Mike Wozniak is easily one of my favorite contestants. He's just amazing.
I don't think he "wanted to get angry".
@@GraemeGunn well I imagine not actually angry but he was probably gonna do a skit where he pretends to be angry or at the very least heated.
@@GraemeGunn I overstated that part, yeah, my bad! What I meant is I think JM often behaves in a juvenile and belligerent way, and it makes my viewing experience a step too cringy for my tastes. Still, I'm also here for it; TM is all human emotion and observation, and I shouldn't judge how others conduct themselves. Self-righteous aggression just bugs me a lot, good TV or not.
I hope someone is writing a sociological study or something on this show :D Although the podcast is great for unpacking too.
"So what's your job?"
"One sneery sneery, two sneery sneery"
Love Mike
the hair cling and the phone booth dance were the only 2 that actually hovered it!
what shot with airplane and baloon next to it flying off was amazing
I've no idea how I would have made it hover, but I'd have given some consideration to either popping or letting down the balloon first.
i missed Mike so much !!!! You need to bring him back , PLEASE !!!!
Mike is some sort of superhuman weirdo. Freakin hilarious
A sneary-sneary unit of time
The thumbnail image has a typo, it's misspelled "baloon' btw Alex Horne
he lived a whole life with that balloon
Mike should have got that - the other two contestants were not 'hovering' by definition.
Absolute my favorite person! What a champ!
Mike Wozniak is amazing.
Was Jamali's balloon above his waist?!
When you're tasked with making a RUclips thumbnail and don't quite succeed. I'll award 2 points simply because of the effort.
As soon as I discovered it was helium, my 1st step would be to take it inside.
Long live Wozza, the mighty fence hopper!
I can vividly imagine it: Local Man Stuck In Mineshaft After Chasing Balloon For Reality TV Show Taskmaster
Witnesses state that he “really wanted to win”. After the local fire department were able to facilitate contact through a walkie-talkie lowered into the shaft, the man stated that he “got it to hover” & is reported repeatedly questioning rescue personnel “does it still count?”.
I haven't seen the reslts yet, but the easiest way to do this is get a ball of twine, tie the loose end to the balloon, then let the balloon go up until the wieht of the line counteracts the buoyancy of the balloon. Cut the twine at ground level, pull the balloon back down, and then tie the mass of twine in a bundle and place the neutrally bouyant balloon at chest level.
Maybe cut the line just a bit long so you can fine tune it if necessary.
That guy at the end knows hard work and results! :)
Littering
When Lee and Charlotte lost their balloons, I had a flashback to childhood.
You can let helium out until it hovers. Or let some helium out, and blow some air in it. But it's a bit risky, cause if you let too much helium out you're stuffed.
Lee just wanted to keep playing with the balloon and figure out the weight lmao
Baloon?
Mike deserved a bonus point for getting the balloon back 🤣
You know, I don't think the rules prohibited them from deflating the balloon and blowing it back up with air instead of helium...
Nice of Alex to mention Cyril Sneer, from the '80s- '90s Canadian cartoon "The Raccoons".
I do wonder if the string the balloon started tied to, if cut on the ends, would have been the weight to balance it off and allow it to hover.
My first thought was, did the task say they had to attempt this outside where the balloon could float away? Then I was glad to see a few of them head for the shed.
mike is now my favorite contestant on the series. sorry james.
Should've taken it inside while testing the hovering.
Mike running after it 🤣😂
It didn't occur to me until just now that "tethered" means "connected to a rope or chain". Holding the balloon is not tethering it.
It doesn't mean that. Tethering is just an verb for "to restrain" so by holding it you are restraining it.
@@geetarwanabe That's the colloquial definition, but the formal definition is what I said earlier. Using pedantic definitons as routes for lateral thinking has worked on Greg before so I think that would have worked. The definition of "hover" would be the next hurdle, though.
@@geetarwanabe No one would ever describe holding onto something with your hand as "tethering" it. Don't try to pull some pedantic colloquial definition to pretend otherwise. Tethering means tying something to another object so it can no longer move independently. Attaching a weight is arguably tethering, because you tethered the weight to the balloon. Trapping it with another object over it or holding onto the balloon is not "tethering" it. Alex was repeatedly asking them if it counts as "tethering" because the rules of tasks have been established via precedent to be more focused on the letter of the task and not the "spirit" of it. Alex is intentionally confusing them by getting them to question their own definition of "tether" and whether it could count. This is all besides the point that absolutely no one ever would say they "tethered" a balloon by holding it. A "tether" is a strap/rope/chain that attaches two objects to each other. To "tether" an object as a verb, you would attach the (noun) tether to said objects. The adjective form referring to a set of objects that have been tethered together.
"tethered" means about as little as "hovered". the show is designed for subordination to madness, to create the appearance but not the substance of a fair and logical system, to inspire indignation. maybe the taskmaster would allow you to cheese it, maybe he would say piss off no points, but it's certainly a matter of whim more than any kind of technicality or spirit.
@@jkid1134 Time and time again, they've honored pedantic definitons in this show, even going as far as to call upon Susie Dent to confirm ambiguity. The show is primarily designed to entertain which mostly comes from people making fools of themselves, but a few clever contestants, Roid Gilbert being the standout in my mind, has proved that it's possible to entertain by splitting hairs as well. I have no doubt that if someone in this task used the true definition, they would have gotten away with it, but again the next obstacle would be similarly worming out of the definition of "hover".
Love the shoutout to Cyril Sneer
Typo in the thumbnail… too late to change?
love the raccoons reference
tie string to the balloon, pull out length until the weight of the string is enough to make the balloon hover, then cut it and ball it in a knot.
So they are located next to a golf course lol
1. Get a piece of tape and put it on the balloon.
2. Put a pencil/pen through the tape and balloon (it won’t pop)
3. Suck helium out and blow air in until it hovers.
Or tape the balloon as many layers as it needs to hover
exactly, I feel like if Sarah had just kept adding tape, she wasn't far from weighing down to chest level
Release the balloon inside the house
I've never been more sexually attracted to a man than Mike Wozniak in this task.
We see the typo in the thumbnail 😅
my immediate thought was get the ladder stick the ballon in alex's caravan and climb the ladder till it was approximately chest hight and stand on that for 20 secs XD
Woz got shafted. His was the only actual hover.
So, could you just hold a box over top of the balloon, and blow a leaf blower from below?
Typo in the thumbnail! *Balloom not baloon
Fixed now :)
Wouldn't dribbling (fast and very lightly, just enough to keep it at the same spot) have been a solution?
Put peanut butter on it!
Can't believe they actually didn't come back to the "technically it's hovering". Should've been 4x 0 Points and 1x 5 Points! This is a SCANDAL!
I hate to be this guy but........ the thumbnail has incorrectly spelled "baloon".
Oh come on, jamming a helium balloon under your shirt to hold it in place, that's to make it hover unassisted? 🙄
Nobody thought to put the balloon under a table and just sit by the table?
It has to be over there waist.
@@TMinusRecords yeah I realized my mistake, they could kneel or squat down to keep the Balloon in the assigned area
I wanted someone to try trapping the balloon between two electric fans.
What balloon lol
that balloon was not floating otherwise you could just put it under a table and sit at the table and it would be above waist height "floating"
spelt the thumbnail pic wrong.
Where do you go to tell them that they’ve got a spelling mistake in the picture for their video?
Baloon or Balloon?
Such a tease that I'm in the UK but still can't watch the latter seasons because why sit in front of a TV when computers exist.
Heeeey there was a Raccoons cartoon reference
Tape a penny and keep adding pennies until it’s preferred height
How is holding the ballon under a shirt hovering ?
considered going inside?
lol i think jumping the fence and bringing the balloon back counts as a win for me
Stick it under an umbrella?
How did no one get a box and just turn it upside down to house the balloon 😭
wait i just realized that the thing on top of the roof is meant to be greg and alex
He's got a jumper holding it down, idk what untethered is supposed to mean but that's not hovering
This is definitely a late-season task lmao wtf is that
That's from the second episode
@@nigellim9729 I don't mean it's late in the season, I mean it is a later season. As in, they've been doing this so long that they're resorting to highly specific tasks.
I am starting to worry the Taskmaster Podcast is being withheld from us.
Do you have a Spotify account since all the latest podcast are there
Naaah, that tripod trick was no hover. Should have been zero points.
You spelled balloon wrong in the thumbnail.
Person who did the thumbnail can't spell balloon
How did only 1 person think to go inside lmao. Sad.
