@@Jennyfisch I think because, while Mike's was very creative and well executed, it wasn't quite a horror short. It was more of a comedy. Treacle covered puppies? It was like straight out of a Monty Python/Mighty Boosh sketch.
Post-production did an outstanding job. I wish I could give props to the cinematographer and editor and sound engineer individually. Also the PAs that rounded up all that string.
I love how proud all of them were of their performance on this task! And rightly so, they all did great. Surely though Lee or Mike should have won that one. Sarah's was less involved and was mostly imitating an already-made horror film; Lee and Mike both did something original.
Little Alex Horn riding on a little tricycle while recreating that scene from "The Shining" was something I did not expect but is a welcome surprise! Happy Halloween!
10:20 : Actually, in the film Alien, one of the best 'shock and horror' scenes stemmed from the Director NOT telling the actors what was going to happen ... (hint : The chest buster scene)
They all did great. Lee is able to come up with this sort of thing in real-time so he probably had his entry planned out before he finished reading the task out loud…
I think it's generally understood that "the taskmaster house" is the entire property. I do admit that if a task said "you cannot leave the house" and someone went out to the caravan they'd be disqualified without question. So... hmm...
okay but him saying, "you see the amount of string you was going to get.... MORE string." is exactly what i say to waiters when i order anything with pickles. literally, if you think you have gone too far with the pickles, give me two more handfuls than that. I want all of the pickles in the establishment.
In one of the outtakes, a PA was rotating the trophy while everyone was watching the clips. But the placement of the trophy stayed consistent throughout this video. Having something like this happen without you knowing is truly haunting.
Actually Lee's really caught me by surprise therefore spooky. He lowered our expectations and lulled us into a sense of security then the clumsy incompetent switched to Japanese horror film vibe. It really made me jump. None of the others did.
"Hemisect" is indeed a word, but it usually refers to cutting along the sagittal plane, i.e. cutting it into equal left and right halves. The term is most often applied to teeth, where the left or right half of a tooth is removed only. Removing only the top half of a tooth is not a hemisection. The term is also used to refer to damage to the left or right half of the spinal cord only, as in Brown-Séquard syndrome. In the video, the bodies were cut along the transverse plane, cutting them into equal cranial (top) and caudal (bottom) halves. So I wouldn't call that a hemisection, though it is a bisection in any case.
Creepy idea popped into my head when this one was read out, and since the contestants all say you end up running with your first thought... My first thought was to create a film showing how Alex is actually a businessman with ambitions of his own, but a malevolent spirit in this house possesses him to grin and play the assistant character against his will. ... I'm a little bit appalled that this was my first thought, and now realize I must be a little of a 'Sara Pascoe' or 'Al Murray' competitor. Didn't they both have first thoughts that involved an 'against will' element? (Kidnapping Alex's kids to surprise him?)
I like how the Taskmaster is pretty cool about scoring in the creative rounds -- if people put an effort in, they get a few points - this time sort of a gold, silver, bronze award, where there's 3 tiers, sometimes it's a 5/3 point split, but either way, these were all pretty cool in their own way. I think I'd have gotten a whole group of creepy nans in to scare Alex, and have them too close, just over his shoulder as he tours the house, creeping him out, making interesting statements as a nan might do...
The task was to make the house haunted. I can't believe no one even considered just murdering Alex and trapping his spirit in the house. I am disappointed. 0/666 pumpkins.
I don't feel like Sarah should have been rewarded for ripping off the Shining. She didn't even put her own spin on it. Treacle covered puppies won it for me
Greg is weirdly so generous in this task starting at 3 points. I also am kinda disappointed that everyone went for tricks whereas I know some other contestants from other series would've straight up gone for performing a real seance with a Ouiji board and just hoped something weird happened lol
@@yourmum69_420 No a seance is a real activity, the potential results being real is the debatable part. I'm saying I wish someone didn't rely on obvious tricks and just went as serious as they possibly could with it even if it resulted in nothing
10:20 Actually sometimes they don't and you get the best scenes from them not warning the actors in advance. Here's Johnny from The Shining and the chest burster scene from Alien are prime examples.
But that's also how you end up traumatizing someone, like The Birds where real birds got thrown at someone for an attack scene. (Actually just don't do things to hurt actors and you'll get a great scene and have fun)
I actually independently had an idea to start a "haunted house" tour where instead of every room being actors who just shriek at you while covered in fake blood, every room is just like "the room of ringing phones" or "standing in line at the grocery store when the person in front of you had $200 worth of food and is paying in coins and the person behind you keeps kicking you in the leg" and "the room of overly friendly service people".
I'd just turn the house into an office building, force some of the cameramen to work for decades until they die of old age filled with regrets, and we'd have a properly haunted house. Absolute amateurs.
im scared now. scared of taskmaster being cancelled. surely we have another decade before that happens.. mock the week is gone though, so terrible things happen! alex and greg need to mind the law and not make enemies because the world NEEDS this freaking show!

Mike should've gotten all 5 points here. His is the only "Haunted House".
