This is a beautiful song but you can see the pain that is still on the faces of the remaining band members though this song was recorded a few years after Freddie passed. Brian wrote this one it gives me goosebumps and often brings a tear to my eye.

This is such a beautiful tribute, isn't it?
You know... when Brian, Roger and John were each asked separately/at different times, which band member was their best friend... each of them said individually that their best friend was Freddie; Brian also described Freddie as being the "peacemaker" of the group.
Freddie just had that effect on people. Even now, when Elton John talks about Fred in interviews (Elton also describes Freddie as being his best friend)... Elton gets weepy when he talks about him.
...When Freddie was terminally ill, Brian got so depressed that he almost drove himself off a bridge one night; he actually had to check himself into a psychiatric facility in The States for awhile for treatment.
After Freddie passed away... John was so devastated, he retired from music permanently and has basically lived like a recluse with his wife/family, ever since.
And, in Roger's back yard, he actually has a statue of Freddie that's LARGER than life (it's HUGE).
In the current-day tours of Queen+Adam Lambert... In every show, Brian does a lovely tribute to Freddie: He always performs "Love Of My Life"... Brian performs the first part of the song by himself - with the audience's help, of course - and then, for the last chorus, a larger-than-life Freddie walks out onstage (via a giant video screen) ...and Fred leads the audience through the last chorus.
Brian's been doing these tributes since 2014. My FAVORITE performance: On YT, there's a video of Brian performing the song one time when Freddie's mother, Jer Bulsara, was a special guest in the audience. At the beginning of the song, Brian says: "Mum, this is for you!"

When I started to study Freddie’s life I found, that EVERYBODY loved him, not the friends and the band members only, but the revalling musicians too and I think it’s really rare in the showbusiness. He had such a charisma that touched all the people who met him. As Roger said in an interview: „He's just part of the mental wallpaper, you don’t forget him ever. He’s been gone a long time but we never forget him, he is part of us. Brian and I, we always think he's in the corner and we think we know what he would think when we're talking.”

I've got to say what a beautiful genuine response the realisation on your face that this song was a tribute to the memory of Freddie Mercury. Thank you and always remember Freddie lives on through his fans then and now. Thank you love Eve from the UK. X

Thank you for the reactions, I loved it and was moved along with you, Freddie was an extraordinary person and proof of this is how his friends remember him to this day, there is an interview with Elton John talking about his friendship which is moving. A sensitive, passionate and fun person, I would love for him to have more time on earth, but his legacy is eternal 🥺❤️

Your reaction broke my heart. I cried the first time I saw this, too. The world lost a really great man that day 11/24/1991. RIP FREDDIE MERCURY 1946-1991 WE LOVE YOU ❤

Thank you for reacting to this. I can never get through watching this without crying. You are right, through watching their videos, it feels like he’s still so alive, and this one really just reminds you that he’s not with us. Also, they just look so sad in this video. My gosh can they sing though.

This is a beautiful tribute to Freddie!! Very emotional. 😩😭 I think John looks sad & his bass guitar is drooping! ☹️ “There can only be one” Freddie Mercury, an extraordinary human being! Freddie wrote a song called KEEP SMILING for a cancer patient named Colin. He wanted to meet Freddie but due to a schedule conflict Freddie couldn’t make time. So Fred wrote a song & letter to Colin in response! The letter & cassette tape were buried with Colin upon his death! 😭😭 Link - ruclips.net/video/Wi22D42HpSY/видео.html

Brian wrote this for Freddie. Queen was such a talented band. Everyone of the band members wrote hit songs. This lets you see how talented each of the members are. They are all talented singers. This song always hits me hard. I'm happy I was able to see Brian and Roger with QAL before they retire.

This was John's last performance with Queen, he retired after making this video. He looks so sad in the video, my heart hurts for him.
