Actually, they've had lead guitarists before, and the guitarist here is playing the lead from the official releases of the songs, but through some effects. It stands out quite a bit, and sounds much better, but he's playing mostly the same material you get off the album.,
Tobias Lazer yea, he produced some of the tunes as well and it definitely shows bc he's pretty comfortable with the tunes. but what i meant was that the four piece lineup sounds fuller than the usual three piece. although the usual 3-piece sounds great, it's always cool to hear one guit doing the chords and changes and another guit adding just the right amount of tasteful spice over top of everything. that was the case with this session and the result was sonic perfection, in my opinion
But they DO usually play as a 4 piece, they always have. And the stuff that guy is playing has always been there, it just stands out more because of the effects. This is no doubt a fantastic performance, but they've always had two guitarists.
Tobias Lazer there's definitely tons of shows from the past year or so where the band (live version, of course) was a 3 piece, for example check the other kexp session courtney + co. did over the summer, plus tons of other vids on youtube. again, i'm not talking about the records, just live
I've been listening to Courtney Barnett since Pickles from the jar came on Triple J once. I didn't catch the name of the song the first time so had to wait until Triple J played it again to find out the name. Since then I've been listening to Courtney and her band at least once a week with my bass on my lap figuring out the bass lines. I keep wanting to hear Pickles from the jar, but just end up rocking out to History Eraser instead.
Got to love the creative work that the lead guitarist adds to these songs.. I can't even listen to the album versions of these tracks anymore. Courtney Barnett's KEXP sessions are ruining me.
Don't much care for the extra guitar on the opening track. None of these tracks were written with 2 guitars and it really shows. It's really distracting. I'd rather just have them be a power trio.
the lead guitarist should join the band full-time. I've heard/seen her other performances without any lead and it's pretty boring after hearing this. Courtney looks pretty cute here with her make up in all.
seriously KEXP should start releasing sessions as albums. i would buy the Courtney Barnett KEXP sessions album in a heartbeat!
Indeed...
I love the host! She is so peaceful.

This is wild... Very impressed. I'm so psyched bands like this are gaining popularity these days.
glad to hear the 2nd guitarist in the band now. helps to round out the sound. solid set

That looks like possibly the most fun anyone has ever had.
I am completely in love with Courtney Barnett. Crushing big time.
I can't get enough of this band
agreed. when they posted this session, i seriously watched multiple times a day for the next few days
She's so good. I can't wait until she comes back to the states again. I'll be at every show within 300 miles.
Whoo! Look what I've found! An amazing band playing true rock'n roll! I see a future epic band there.
It's my birthday, and I love Courtney Barnett! Thank you KEXP.
Awesome sound all around- love it
wow, after 10 years of lovin' Courtney, It's amazing to see her: delegate some guitar, not wear a t-shirt, and put on some eye makeup. lol. so happy.
This chick has talent, the band is pretty awesome too
When I was a kid in OZ we didn't celebrate Halloween, but I hear that it's getting big now.
FANTASTIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Why does this only have 89k views?
Fuc...king nice, Courtney!

Lance Jr. sounds so much better live... wow!

love you guys
rifa bastante, hace falta mas de esto en la actualidad
the intro for History Eraser sounds like about a girl (nirvana)
well, it's the same chord progression - just from different note
can cheryl host a conversation class for the socially awkward?

This is such a good version of Canned Tomatoes

Amazing set
Laura Dianne Hinestrosa You got to listen to this right now!
In a time of dark misery and gloom at the hands of corporate oppression in our country Courtney saves us and reminds us, they can't have our minds...
Extremely cool rocn roll musician(s)

Small Poppies
Depreston
Aqua Profunda!
Keren parah
Murder me in my dreams, Courtney!
The music they play on this radio show sounds much more grunge than normal... Will it be for seattle?
She's like Bob Dylan at a higher tempo. What rock n roll is supposed to be.
Anybody have any idea what effect the lead guitarist is using at 22:22?
I think it's a vibrato pedal, set in a particular tremolo-ish way, I have no clue of what model it is though
***** Vibrato pedal - fast setting.
Thanks!
nirvana written all over it
I thought same thing, if you haven't already check out a song by them called Pedestrian at Best
More complex and subtle than Nirvana. Wittier too.
ikr Lance jr. is pure Nirvana
Dan Luscombe formerly of The Drones :D
I feel like Kurt Cobain and Courtney Barnett would have got along great
Got to love the creative work that the lead guitarist adds to these songs..
I can't even listen to the album versions of these tracks anymore.
Courtney Barnett's KEXP sessions are ruining me.
dan luscombe
they should always dress like that
Wow great session, is Courtney wasted?
PJ harvey is around......
The guy in the dress is who? Courtney is a 3 piece
Don't much care for the extra guitar on the opening track.

Halloween? Really? Could you ask something more irrelevant? The Triple Door Show is the bomb. No talk
