On this episode of DTB’s “Gear Masters”, Kevin "Thrasher" Gruft, guitarist for the hard rock band, Escape The Fate, shows off the gear that he used onstage, while on tour with Nonpoint, Get Scared, Failure Anthem and Through Fire. Unfortunately, we did not. ETF didn't have much time to make this happen, so we only had enough time for Thrasher this time around.

Is there any particular reason why he has his amp backwards, or is it not setup properly?
I'm not entirely sure. This was being filmed during when the band was loading on their gear, so it might have just been something that was placed wrong and fixed later.
JG 93 this is actually intentional. I use in-ear monitors and the lower the stage volume the clearer I can hear the whole band(less ear damage). Also less feedback. This also allows our front of house engineer to have a cleaner guitar signal(less bleed from other instruments).

higler420 truth I misspoke. But the heel doesn't stick out too badly, I don't really have any issues getting to the 24th fret.
I like the setup but definitely needs to replace some stuff. Or at least clean it lmao

If you scoop the mids no one will hear you live with the bass and drums
ellis smith they aren't too terribly scooped tho. They're at about three which is an acceptable amount of scooping
6505s already have a shit ton of mids compared to other amps. Too much low mids, and the mid control on the 6505 controls alot of lower mids, and the high controls more of the upper mids. People use some sort of boost to add more upper mids to cut through the mix, while you can lower the low mids on the mid control of the 6505. Other amps like a mesa dual rec, I'm boosting the mids like crazy to cut through. 6505 you can scoop quite a bit and still cut through when using a boost.
Of all of the DTB breakdowns I've seen, this guy literally has no knowledge of the gear he uses. As a musician, I know more than "my guitar has "generic" strings that are the red pack and my guitar has uhhhh, locking tuners".
