My mum organized this for my uncle, my nan died on xmas day then the following year my grandad died it was so awful for our family . this was so awesome! thats probably the only time I've ever seen my uncle speechless still moves me today! None of the juke box part was rehearsed he just walked in and noel said "what do you like?" and straight away he picked the right song and right group , amazing!
Absolutely moving clip, you can see just how much he was moved by this. What a lovely family and well done to The Hollies for this beautiful act of kindness. God Bless you all.
Remember it well. Watched it the night it went out. I was in bits by the end of it. Everyone doing their best to hold it together for him. What a special moment.
I remember watching this the first time and having to pretend to go for a cup of coffee because I was choking up. Yep, straight for the heartstrings. The Hollies were brilliant, especially the great Allan Clark.
It was an honor to share this video, the Hollies showed what a Christmas present, with all its meaning. God bless the Hollies, God bless Allan Clarke, I believe that everyone who watched that video, felt embraced by it. Merry Christmas to all!
At Last! I I have discovered this video from Noel Edmonds on Xmas Day in 1994. I watched this live and tears were pooring down my face as well. What a present! And, everyone remembers this Tele broadcast. Alan is my favorite Hollie and they alltogether are a big part of my happy childhood. Happy memories as well.
I'm a 42yo bloke and this has me in floods of tears every time, without fail. I sob like I did when I was a 5yo!! I remember seeing it on telly at the time, and desperately trying to hold back the tears, 'cause iI was watching with my Dad (RIP) and g/f of the time.....
I remember this so well, I delivered the jukebox! It was a memorable day for me. Once the jukebox was set up I had to spend the afternoon waiting, I was asked as a favour if I would go and get some umbrellas for the production team which I did with Brian's daughter I think as I didnt know the area. There were some shots online of some of us at the back being asked to move out of shot as Brian and Noel came down the garden but I cant find these anymore. After the filming I had a beer with the band in the kitchen. I'll never forget this day.
There are not words to describe this. This is brilliant, and so much praise for the Hollies. A fantastic gesture. The song is one of my all time favourites.
What a singer he is, and those harmonies! Fabulous! We had a session guitarist in our pub who played with many of the sixties bands, he loved the Hollies, real nice guys. 👍👏👏👏
O.M.G. What could top this??? The Hollies playing this beautiful song LIVE. What an unforgettable night for this man. (And those of us watching this). I admire the Hollies for this, they are a fine band & will always BE in our heart This is truly a moving video. Hats of to The Hollies.Allan Clarke, Tony Hicks & Bobby Elliot & gang for their kindness.
I saw this years ago on tv the night it was show , I HAVE NEVER FORGOT IT ,IT MOVED ME SO MUCH AND TO TEARS ,GOD BLESS YOU AND ALL YOUR FAMILY . AND WELL DONE NOEL FOR WHAT YOU DID TOO
its wonderful this is available on you tube. Have to say its the most moving thing ive ever seen on tv.. remember it at the time- cannot believe its 17 years ago
I watched this on the 100 best Xmas moments in 2005, the year i lost one of my best friends. This song always reminds me of him, and this clip had me in floods of tears, of happiness and sadness when it was on. Brian, in the film, had lost his parents and was recovering from cancer if I remember, and was always more worried about others over himself. A real heart warming clip, and i'm so glad ive found it again!!
Is this awesome or what?! The Hollies and as good as ever. Man.Oh man!! What a special gift for a special man! This is priceless. What a trip! Could you imagine the Hollies in the back of your yard?! The guy must have felt like he was in a dream!! A very super cool video!!!!
After such a magnificent gesture from The Hollies maybe it's time to change their name to The Holies. Great guys and a very worthy recipient of this accolade in Brian Stubbles. Thanks to all involved in this little gem of a video that does credit to everyone. And many thanks to Noel Edmonds. I wish they'd bring his house party back.
Wow. This is fantastic. Thank you for sharing. I never knew this existed. Blown away. Tears and joy at the same time. I adore The Hollies. Allan Clarke, a great man along with being my fav singer ever😊🆒
omg!!!! what an experience he got!!!! i would have crying hysterical to be in front of them singing that song. what an amazing gift. wow!!!! i know it was hard holding it together being in their presence. i just recently fell in love with the group a few months ago. i got tears from watching this.
You have made my Christmas with this video, Tony....I'm sitting here stunned and moved to tears. I have never seen anything like it...now I know the reason for my hero-worship of the Hollies. Thank you for such an amazing gift. x Linda
I remember watching the original broadcast in 1994. What this clip doesn't show is that back-story - he has polio, or similar and has had a very hard life with that. Before this clip starts his brother is seen and heard leading him up the road on his crutches to home, slowly building expectations about meeting 'someone special' before he enters and meets Noel. In its entireity its one of the most moving scenes I have seen. Its a joy to see it again. TY, tonywilkinson.
Had to come back to this Classic - I can remember when I first watched it on TV. Round about 1993/4. I cried my eyes out and in later years got my own copy from a very nice man - Thanks again for the Great Hollie Memories !!!!!
"...Home entertainment system..." ain't THAT the truth! Sheer beauty!! Bless your heart, Brian. I come back again and again to watch this. Be well, x Linda.
A friend of the family sent a copy of this episode to us in Australia. We cried buckets over this, and every time I hear the song I recall the moment. I fact, I just found this video because I'd just played the song and wanted to watch it again. I cried all over again, 26 years and a bit years later. It was a beautiful moment. Brian was also a railway modeller and had his layout featured in "Railway Modeller" magazine - naturally, the station was called The Hollies. So many thoughts when I hear this....
es tan gratificante ver la sencillez y humildad de The Hollies, conmovedoras escenas que me hacen admirar aun mas a esta gran banda,,,unicos Hollies por siempre !!!
At last - It's on !!! This is such a wonderful clip and still brings a tear to my eye - Thanks Tony it's a clip I myself still treasure - Brilliant Post - Hollies Forever !!!!!!!!!!
stubblesme I hope with all my heart that you are still doing good and had a Happy Christmas this year in 2018. I can tell you're a really good man, God bless!
@smiffy1071 No doubt. It's good to see a deserving person get recognition like this. I watch this to remind me of the good in the world! The notion of The Hollies playing live in his garden is irresistable!
I remember this whaen it was first broadcast on the BBC. This poor chap had been having an especially bad time, I can't remember exactly, but I think he was looking after a disabled relative, and then annother loved one died, So make no mistake, he really deserved this...
I wonder what would I do with Allan in person close to me ........ I'm thrilled so far with this video. Allan giving this gift to a fan, he made the man cry with emotion. This is a wonderful dream! A gift that has a value that you can not measure ..
veraluciasc omg i dont know if he realizes the impact he has on people. if i ever met him i would immediately start crying because his spirit is so wonderful.

It moves me, too! The Hollies are good people and your uncle seems really cool.
Remember it well. Watched it the night it went out. I was in bits by the end of it. Everyone doing their best to hold it together for him. What a special moment.
Brings tears to the eyes and joy to the heart in equal measure...❤

What were the band like? It is a remarkable piece of television, really moving.
Still brings a tear to my eyes after twenty years. Thanks.
There are not words to describe this. This is brilliant, and so much praise for the Hollies. A fantastic gesture. The song is one of my all time favourites.
Typical lovely gesture from a lovely bunch of lads. Love the Hollies. They rock! Then, now and always.
Such a kind gesture! God bless The Hollies💗

That was brilliant. I think i can remember it live as Noel was the programme to watch at Christmas.
The Hollies will always be number 1 ❤
this gets me every single time.
the joy in that man's face is beautiful
Very moving indeed! Amazing band too, I have been fortunate enough to see them four times in recent years. Lovely clip

Superb, so moving. I miss Noel Edmonds Christmas shows.
the lead singer has a great voice and wasn't born in the 1960s I was born in 1974 what a great live voice unlike today's autotune generation

just a lovely gesture, and really moving.
This was wonderful, I remember watching this when it first aired, shed a tear I’m not ashamed to say.
I occasionally meet Bobby Elliot. A very likeable person and a brilliant drummer. What a life story he must have had.
You have made my Christmas with this video, Tony....I'm sitting here stunned and moved to tears. I have never seen anything like it...now I know the reason for my hero-worship of the Hollies.

More reinforcement for me that Allan Clarke is such a giving humble man--using his talents to really raise the spirits of his fans!
Holly Golightly don't forget Bobby and Tony, they're there, too
I grew up in the 70s and was into bands like Slade but I am now beginning to really appreciate fantastic bands like The Hollies and Small Faces.
Had to come back to this Classic - I can remember when I first watched it on TV. Round about 1993/4. I cried my eyes out and in later years got my own copy from a very nice man - Thanks again for the Great Hollie Memories !!!!!
I've watched this a dozen times and get a lump in the throat every time....!

At last - It's on !!! This is such a wonderful clip and still brings a tear to my eye - Thanks Tony it's a clip I myself still treasure - Brilliant Post - Hollies Forever !!!!!!!!!!
Real TV, real people, more gentle times and no celebrity ego's.
I'm pretty sure in the 90s Noel's ego was visible from space...
Incredible band, such awesome singing.
The renaissance of music 🎶

Lindo, me parece ser uma homenagem, sim é uma homenagem, só podia ser esses caras The hollies.....
I'd love to know the story after this. Is Brian still around? if so, how are you mate?
It`s live no synching
I remember watching this
very touching
Very poignant, I would give this to my brother, given the chance. It sums up fraternal love/admiration, despite all the tribulations.
Myself, Hadge Clarke, Graham Nash & John Virgo all went to the same school in SALFORD.
So touching
I hope they played a few songs for this nice chap...What a band...!
Warms me Heart no end....
