Maura "appearing impaired" at the scene was not creative license by the author of the article, it was in the original press release from Haverhill PD, nearly a week before that article was published: drive.google.com/file/d/0B0THHDpHRXYgWDZlUHdYRlBJZ1k/view?usp=sharing "Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a lone female...who appeared impaired due to alcohol consumption."
I would love to know what witnesses they are referring to. There was only one that actually spoke with her and he has changed his story several times. He also failed a lie detector test and marginally passed a second one. The only other witnesses that saw her reported the accident but never left their house. They have stated they didn't even know it was a young woman, they couldn't tell gender from their vantage point. They have never stated seeing any behavior that would suggest impairment of any kind. I am suggesting "creative license" was taken by Haverhill Police Department.
This was really great! The journalist brings a fantastic perspective, especially in terms of the assumption Maura was drinking and driving the night of her disappearance. It's a huge red herring as he pointed out. P.S. - I emailed you guys a week or so back with some contributions (opinions, really) on the night of her disappearance. I hope it can be helpful.
Okay, so there was this Boston Globe article which was written about six days after Maura Murray went missing. This article contains some details which I have seen in very few places .these details are listed below 1) as discussed in the podcast, the article states "A witness told local police Murray appeared to have been intoxicated at the time of the crash." I am not sure who the "witness" is(possibly Butch Atwood) 2)The article also states "Murray had e-mailed a professor on Monday indicating she needed to take time off because of a “family problem” and will return to class this week." so...no mention of "a death in the family" the link to the article is given below: www.bostonglobe.com/metro/2004/02/15/student-vanishes-and-questions-mount/ESRJL97tDDJd6MyiqcZvTN/story.html?p1=Article_Related_Box_Article Also, Did y'all know that Maura's mother was also a Nurse?
You guys are getting more and more biased, it seems: Lance gets so bent out of shape when the article mentions that she 'might be suicidal', which was entirely accurate based on her father's own comments and her actions at the time. The suicide/panic run away from the car (and die in the woods miles and miles away) theory is actually the closest to the common sense, Occam's razor way of thinking based on the facts and her actions. This is probably why you guys, particularly Lance, get so upset about it and have pushed Clint Harding away from the case. It is also the least appealing theory, which of course would make all this theorizing less sexy to read. Another example of this is when Tim mentions how people who commit suicide in the wilderness are 'often found', which is simply not true statistically.

I just watched the oxygen trailer where "Art the badass" is referenced and he states "if we only knew where Maura was going", Resounding proof has just been established of all around police incompetence as Lt, Skerenza (sp?) deems it not important to look into the data on Maura's computer. Excuse me while I sigh a giant WTF!!!!!!!!
Late to the party but if she came from west the might have searched west since she possibly could have tried to go back to a store or somewhere semi public she passed? Why go east on foot towards who knows what when you can try to maybe get back to a gas station/store you may had passed.
Interesting perspective guys. Maura's disappearance remains an enigma. Nobody really wants to admit they give credence to psychics. That's just inviting trouble. But something Lori Bruno said very early in the MMM podcast resonated with me....as a woman. Maura would not have taken a ride with a lone man, but she might have been disarmed if a woman was in the car too. My knee jerk reaction was, "yuuuuuup!" As a woman, I'd hitch a ride with a stranger if a woman was in the car too. I don't think any of the theories are quite accurate. There are surely missing variables nobody knows about....and can't possibly guess at...but, I'm guessing Maura has been gone from us for a long time. At this point, the only real hope of cracking the case is a witness. It always comes down to a witness.
Fred said that because he 100 Percent believes that a local Dirt bag killed her becuase thats what happened unfortunately. She was at the wrong place at the wring time and jumped into someone truck and was killed that night.
I don't agree about Butch. i would accept his offer because she(me) could out run him. He was too close to the accident and she wanted to get a way from the accident.
Two questions in mind: If there was a family emergency, where the family was living at that time. That will explain her choice of routes.... Because his fater was living in Connecticut. It's not exactly in the right way.... And then, did she spend the 4 000 cash that a father was talking for buying a potential new car. Maybe, those questions arent relevant all of those years later....

Likely she said she called police because that is what you tell old men that stop to "help" you when you are a young woman afraid and alone.

Since Butch has passed… maybe you could interview his wife??

Agree with politics being depressing since November. Keep up the good work guys!

i agree. maura does appear to have been depressed.

"indication" is the key word. He is making a passive statement about evidence, not denying harm came to her or she was picked up.
My understanding was that Butch knew she hadn't called AAA because he knew she wouldn't be able to from there, so he called the police from his home.

So that Mrs. Rausch comment suggests what Renner has said about Billy and Maura is off base.

He was too close to the accident and she wanted to get a way from the accident.
she could have back tracked the route she walked when the cops arrived..... Such a small window that's all that could make sense
What if Butch saw Jeff Williams' S.U.V. after 7-9 minutes and not the cruiser?
mm got on the bus. its clear. quest is what happened after she left the bus
Are James Conrad and Tom Conrad related?
Not to our knowledge.

They have since confirmed there was no family emergency.
Hey hey hey ! No delay. :) mtrska
You have to fact check the headlines, too. Im writing this in 2019. trump has just declared the National Emergency. It's been fun. Grrr.
F Troop? 😂
Almost all the facts in this case are incorrect. So much is erroneous interpretation, supposition, and falsehood. Unbelievable.

Bit cringe worthy with the "progressive" politics.
