The Wire is simply the best because it wasn't majority filmed on a sound stage in LA somewhere. They used real former drug dealers and gangsters and on location. How can you even compare
I love this show , have better understanding of whole city ,really goes on with ,every main topic , poverty , drugs , politician, these kids don’t have a lot good mentors ! Gut wrenching
So glad I found this, and having watched all 5 seasons, I need to join Alexie Sayle in W.A. And if people want to watch the greatest British show... watch The Young Ones (Co-Starring Alexei Sayle!)
@georginiou The thing about The Wire, as discussed here, is that it unfolds like a highly intelligent novel. If you're illiterate, if you have an IQ of a snail, or if you're 16(you can type legibly so I'm pretty sure you don't fall into these categories) you'll dislike The Wire. It doesn't start off crazy as hell like BB does, it'll take you 3-4 episodes to realize that it is a damn good show. And just a head's up, season 2 is VERY different than season 1, but it's a great season overall.
@georginiou Most people rank the seasons 4>3>1>2>5, however, I'd go with 1>4>2>3>5. Season 5 is okay, not quite as good as the rest, but compared to other TV shows, season 5 is incredible.
@georginiou I actually started watching Breaking Bad when it first aired, back in the Fall of 07' or Spring of 08', I can't remember. It's an INCREDIBLE show, however, after rewatching all 4 seasons of Breaking Bad probably 4 different times, and watching all 5 seasons of The Wire 3-4 times, I'd have to give a slight edge to The Wire. It's just so real; you really cannot compare to any other TV show out there, because they all just pale in comparison to it.
@georginiou I'm a huge of Breaking Bad, it's a really smart show and it's up there with the very best. The Wire is unique though. There really is nothing to touch it. It is unquestionably the most brilliantly insightful piece if television that has ever been made about our society.

@PurpleHazeNr10 That's strange; most people generally tend to agree that season 5 is the weakest season. To each his own I suppose; a lot of people don't like season 2, however, I love it.
thanks for the upload, charlie brooker is much like the wire; highly intelligent and fascinating to watch but will never receive the plaudits they are due as we live in a world largely populated by easily pleased plebians
@htownallday281 Well, for me (having watched the whole show 1 time), I would rank it 5>3>2>1>4. Somehow season 4 felt very long for me and I wasn't that interested in the corner kids' plot line. Season 5, on the other hand, was just fantastic! ;]
Are you taking or just low on IQ? You got the order completely wrong. Season 5 is by far the worst. Season 4 is the best, then season 1, 2, 3. You one crazy mutha
Wait a minute. How can a 7yr old support a Desert Eagle or AK47 let alone fire it? I think this guy is eating up a little too much without really questioning.
baltimore is such a shitty and unfriendly city. ive been there several times throughout my life and everytime ive time the best part by far was leaving that place. ive only been to the nicer parts of it too and even those have a sinister feel to them
I love that the show aged well and it eventually recieved the love and praise it has always deserved.
Breaking bad is amazing, but the wire is even better
Breaking bad is good but iv never rewatched it. Iv rewatch the wire about 6 times never gets old
This comment aged like fine milk. Nobody remembers Breaking Bad because it's crap. The Wire is timeless. Except that last season lol
@@JimmyRoche420Absolutely. Never get tired of watching the Wire.
I love the british. "That's not sportsman like" lmaooooo

I watch both, and love both. Very hard to compare the two, but I suppose at a pinch The Wire wins
Best show about society around

Simple. Its good.
Anyone know the song at 1:53?
This is off topic, but what is the song that is in the intro?
Guys, Anyone knows the song at 1:53?
Was the presenter sitting in the room in where jimmy & pearlman would meet the Feds trying to get help in cases, season 1&2
This doc should be an hour long at least (especially with good ol' Brooker at the helm).

LOL what's incredible about BB? Honestly, nothing. It has aged very poorly. Unlike The Wire.
Who, Brooker, or me?
dont come back then

There's nothing smart about Breaking Bad, baby. It gets boring after the first seaseon, too.
Does this contain spoilers? I'm guessing it does, but I'm only on season 3 at the moment and don't want anything ruined.
No it doesn’t

htownallday281 ...... If season 5 is the weakest season, it is still better than any season of any other show in TV History!!
S 2 is very good, but Ziggy keeps it from being great.

And then True Detective and Mindhunter came out
Haven't tried Mindhunter yet, but True Detective I thought was garbage
And then everyone forgot about True Detective as soon as its second season started, coz it was that bad.

Pretty obvious he's jokingly exaggerating. That's why the dude next to him laughs.
Children can handle AKs pretty well.
does Brian Butterfield really count as a 'respectable person'?

lol the wire is OK, but it's not as good as seinfeld or rugrats lol
the sopranos is the best show ever
It's good, but lacks that next level quality of The WIre.
It's nowhere near the best shows. And your 24 avatar shows how little you know, "Jack".
