In Heaven there's unlimited seasons of the Wire with spin offs like Mike becoming the new Omar and Omar's younger years along with Avon and Stringer taking the towers and much, much more. One of the greatest shows ever. Art.
It's easy to describe Stringer as a "great businessman" and say he would be just at home on Wall Street because he is both of those things.. compared to Avon. But I think the most important moment in Stringer's entire time on the show is when Avon says he is "not hard enough for this right here, and maybe - just maybe - not smart enough for them out there." You can see that cuts him deep - that sentence, especially the second half, is exactly his biggest fear.
The first time watching you think that Avon is so stupid because he doesn’t want to go legit with Stringer but when you rewatch it, you see that Avon was right along….” They saw yo ghetto ass coming from miles away nigga” …. And that’s why “The king stay the king!”
Excellent. Fuck the ratings. You have a fan for life right here. The Wire is not just a series it's an addiction. I was hooked from the very first episode. Bring it back
Love how when the newspapers are thrown down at 10:00 the last one is just pointless and is ignored. Classic brooker subtle, sarcast, humour. What a hero.
I cant exactly pinpoint why, but this show, these behind the scenes interviews; they make me shed tears at how wonderful this sociopolitical commentary is. As someone who is currently attending school in the hopes of getting a job in the film/TV industry, I can only pray that I somehow accumulate the talent and genius to produce something this important and poignant as The Wire. This is what true art is.
oh, i'm sure they do! and those are the types watching American Idol, jersey shore and basketball wives. those who truly "enjoy" The Wire IMHO appreciate it's honest take, find humor/comedy in the show's moral midgetry, LOVE the strength of the acting and the creativity in how the plot & the characters are written. It's VERY real to a lot of viewers -- the polar opposite of most of TV, which is what makes the show special.
somebody is out there watching that paris hilton shit ! The Wire is critically acclaimed for all the right reasons those who dont get it have a slightly different view on things in general than those who do , without trying to get philosophical i quite like the fact that alot of people dont get it
best show in history of television. better than breaking bad, sopranos, etc.. fans of the wire should also watch boardwalk empire; some of the same writers and producers so the format is really similar
@ASDMarauder007 oh, i agree with you. but i think too many don't want that kind of show on TV b/c it hits to close to home in meaning and relating to real life situations people want to ignore. in TV, people want to encounter fictional situations within a safe realm that don't challenge their ideologies of life, purpose, dysfunction, true equality and place in society.
@htownhomie06 surprisingly the wire is fun to watch, if you love characters, a good story, unique perspective on life etc. And for me personally as a guy who likes cops and gangsters, watching the wire is one great experience, because it gives you a unique experience, something that CSI is way to far from
haha, and yeah it'll RUIN you for most other TV. you'll see how artificial and fake so much of TV is. not necessarily a bad thing. i'm not anti-fun. but to see show's like The Wire, you'll notice how grossly limited, commercial & imbalanced most TV programming is by comparison.
@htownhomie06 i agree with the last statement. But I also think that the over-all realism of the show could have driven people away, such as the 80 percent cast of Blacks, slang, and complicated storyline/characters. I saw an interview with David Simon, creator, when asked about average viewers who want the normal in and out story, he replied "fuck the average viewer". So those elements do come into play
Breaking Bad was a good show but doesn't even approach The Wire's quality. You seen BrBa once, you're done. No hidden meaning, no connections, no nuances to discover on second viewing.
"I know more about murder, than you know about that camera." Damn.

This show has amazing editing.

best show i have ever watched
It's very hard to find a show as good
May not have been a commercial hit at the time but it’s definitely historic

its much more popular now than it was when it was being made. back then the big TV series was that glorified mob-themed soap opera, "The Sopranos"
99 times out of 10 you're PROBABLY gonna get life. . . . damn. how many times out of ten will you DEFINITELY get locked up? lol

Do you know how pissed I was when Stringer died.
That crash got him of the boat
bro they ALL got accents wtf???
Haha it's because it was for a UK TV show
@holdemehha They were in fact experimenting with broadcasting the series in the format of Morph's code.
whats the song at the end? "this is B More" says the rappering kid.
If anybody could let a nizza know I'll spot you some spida bags
WELL FUCKADOODLE DOO!
I was today years old when I found out
McNulty was British
Fucking weird seeing them with British accents.

"He's a sort of one-man Pogues gig..."
When I chose my favourite people in this show I always forgot Lester Freeman qaulty actor

When you follow the money you open a can

+SPACEMONKEY288 Mcnulty with the english accent lol
I'd watch goose wrestling.
i would watch the shit out of celebrity goose wrestling
99 out of 10 are pretty bad odds....
Actors IQ ftw
Desperate housewives or the Wire? Please
Celebrity Goose Wrestling.
Know Jimmy has a accent
itv6
11:52 Little Finger?
This is "bleeping" "bleep" WORD
i love real stuff like the wire, fuck the rest.
David Simon didn't say fuck the average viewer. He said fuck the casual viewer. Viewers that won't invest the time to watch it start to finish.
The fuck is going on with Aidan's hair?
HBO...aka the Beeep-show...
before breaking bad, i thought The Wire was the best tv series
+wayside333 both are great shows.I can't decide which one is better.
wire is better....
It's 100% the other way around.
+wayside333 Please... BrBa's not even in the same league as The Wire. The sheer scope and depth of The Wire towers BrBa in every single way.
Breaking Bad was a good show but doesn't even approach The Wire's quality. You seen BrBa once, you're done. No hidden meaning, no connections, no nuances to discover on second viewing.
