I used to have posters on my wall of Paul Young but my sister said I wasn't allowed to like him like John Taylor from Duran Duran. She said they were her favourites and I wasn't allowed to interfere. When I walk around places and look at the people around me and feel so ancient. Sometimes think I'm the oldest person on the planet (I'm 45) I get to wondering where all those people are, that rocked the 70s and 80s? Am I really all alone? Is there anyone else out there, left, that are like me? I listen to this song. To the others that made the 80s so bad ass and see the comments and realize that I'm not so alone. There are others!!! I smile!!!
This last year have tought us what's important in life family and friend's we don't have much but we have each other that's what counts this great song is so relevant today
If music can bring people together, cheer them up, then why don’t they play the good stuff in the public square. Inquisitive refugees from Afghanistan might just wonder what this amazing, new sound is! Well, if it, among other old tracks, were a radio staple. Western society really knows how to shout itself in the foot today, what with the grim and angry being let to dominate the arts and entertainments. Why oh why?

So here is an interesting story, my mother passed away when I was in my early 20’s. My mother loved Paul young and I grew up listening to his music. One of her favourite song was (Love of the common people). About a year ago, I was feeling low and upset about something driving in my car and I was in tears. Then suddenly this song popped up on a radio1 station!.To be honest, I had not heard this song on a radio for such a long time. So I was very surprised. As I was listening to it, I started to feel a lot calmer and then I went home and listened to the lyrics properly. It was exactly what I needed.’mamma is going to love you as much as she can’, ‘ faith is your foundation’. It was a message from her to say I am here, I see you, I feel your pain❤️🙏🏾
@stephen mcaleese I know, i am a believer that there is life after death. So certainly I will see her again. It is reassuring knowing that she was present with me at the time 😊

i first listened to this magical song in the year 1982 in one of my friends' house in india. Later, we parted and till date havent been able to meet that friend, but the sweet tune of this song always lingered in my ears and i longed everytime to find it and find it and find it, untill today when it dawned upon me to search it with a trick. Cause, i didnt know the lyrics.. none of it... only this mesmerising singer's name -- paul young... so i searched.. but in first attempt couldnt cause i tried listening to some songs of his, but they didnt coincide with my memories of the tune of this song. Then i searched for all his songs, and one by one listened to all the songs, untill this tune finally matched with my memories and instantly i recognised that its this song i was looking for. Oh god, what sweet lyrics, what a sweet voice. Heard it atleast ten times at a stretch, as if i wanted to fill my appetite of listening to this song. God, thanks, that finally i got it. ITS ALMOST 32 LONG YEARS FOR MY WAIT! UNBELIEVABLE. Looking back, it makes no sense that George Michael became a mega-star in the USA, and Paul Young achieved “second tier” fame at best. I’m glad he had great success in the UK and still continues to make great music.
What a stupid comment. George Michael was one of the best singers the U.K. ever produced. You may not like his music but to say he shouldn’t have been popular is just ridiculous.

By far the THE SWEETEST MEMORY! for a peticular song no doubt, a song that reminds you of THE GREATEST MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE! will live with you for eternity 🙏💜🙏
It's actually from 1983. In the UK it was a hit in 1983.

The Fabulous Wealthy Tarts!!!!
FWT FTW 🥰
True that. Back voices are unique in this number
This song always reminds me of Duncan Dares, the Royal Marines episode 😀
Hope and pray you doing good and are Happy.
@stephen mcaleese I know, i am a believer that there is life after death. So certainly I will see her again. It is reassuring knowing that she was present with me at the time 😊
@@dr.rizviesalih3107 thank you 🙏🏾
@Gondwan so kind of you, thank you.
@@Amber28885 that is the sort of thing only happens a few times in a life.hold on to it and never let it or your mother's memory go. Take care of yourself
Instantly transported to a moment in time when my boyfriend broke up with me to this song. The agony and the ecstasy. Fantastic album. Every song an absolute gem. But I can still feel the pain of that break-up 36 years later.
Louise McElhill I absolutely wore this album out. You’re right-every song is fantastic
Yeah songs can totally evoke memories and feelings
Louise McEhill, I know how you feel, it was around that time when my wife ran away with my best friend ,, I really miss him !! cheers.

Still a brilliant . I'm looking forward to see Paul in concert next week 😀
He stinks now. Can't sing. Should have retired.
Pure, wholesome great music that everyone can appreciate. How delightful that there are comments here from people as young as 7 and as old as 79. This is the what real music is all about.
Well said! I completely agree with your words! As you say it’s delightful that such a wide variety of ages love and enjoy this song. This song is a rare example of a piece of music that transcends age, class, race, generations, gender, sexuality, wealth or background. Everyone I believe can relate to this song in someway, which is both beautiful and very rare. As you correctly said “this what real music is all about”
First heard this on Radio here in Melbourne, Australia, when it was released in the mid - 1980s. Still is just as great all these years later.
I'm from Bangalore India. During early 80s I was doing my Graduation and I was a regular listener of Radio Australia, Melbourne. Daily I would listen to Suzanne Dawling's Sound About and in week ends British and American top 10 of the week and Australian top 20. Listening to Radio Australia was my favorurite passtime those days. Golden period indeed.
@@nageshkaigonahalli8397 That really was a golden time for music, Nagesh. My birth year of 1982 alone had so many great songs.
I attended his live concert in Melbourne in the 80s
My heart feel so much happy knowing that you love my song very much, i really appreciate all the time you have be listening to my music, Thank you and much love to you🌹🌹
The riffs the solos the lyrics the drums. Everything is perfect on this song love it.
Yes indeed! I'm proud to be his look-alike, according to my co workers. I wish 😂
And have we forgotten the backing vocals?
A female version of Paul Young, eh? It kind of reminds you of the female version of Jerry Seinfeld, and what impact that had on poor George!!!
and its the two girls , the back up singers who drives this it home!
And what about the magnificent Pino Palladino?
I feel big respect for paul young.
Despite he is a famous singer he always has stayed humble and himself where lot ot of others gets star allures and all kind of weird behavior.
Thank you Paul for this wonderful song.
It has helped me to overcome my dark youth.
Thank you, Paul Young.
Qué vos tan especial y agradable es la de Paul, creo que puedes escucharla por horas , creo que faltaron más producciones bonitas , hermosos conjuntos. Gracias ❤
Never heard before... from Canada... fantastic!
Cemented our love of Paul Young as an eighties Icon.....excellent lyrics , melody and message ....wish he had not burned , waiting for his pheonix ....
!!!Love is Paul Young!!!

i first listened to this magical song in the year 1982 in one of my friends' house in india. BUT M VERY HAPPY TO HAVE FOUND IT. my wishes and heartfelt gratitudes to Paul young for this wonderful touching song! may u have a very long healthy life! god bless!!

There is so much respect and purity in this wonderful masterpiece!
One of my all time favourites ..
Mine too. The 80's were the best decade ever..
living in my teens in the late 80s /early 90s, and still love these songs. One of my favorites then and even now.
I first heard this song when I was 13 years of age.I am nearly 65 and I still love it.
Its pretty remarkable how many people my music touches .. I am very lucky in that way. thank you for all these years🌹🌹 it’s been a wonderful feeling playing for my fans around the world
I'm 60, and I think I was about 12 when I heard this done by The Kingston Trio. Found this version (omigods!)12 years back and fell in love with it. ✌😺
The accounts don't fit me, according to the dates you heard it in 1970 but that song is from the 80's, but it doesn't matter anyway it's a great song
It was released in 1983. X
That dosnt add up i listened to it when i was 13 and im now 52
அருமை. அருமை. பால் யங். பின்னணி இசையும் பாடகர்களும் கூட. 80களை இழந்து நிற்கின்றேன்.

A great song! Great spirit in its lyrics and music.
I grew up in my childhood and I remember all these great songs. Love them. Best ever decade for real music.
I came here to witness a song written by The Four Preps and found Paul Young and his extraordinary help did as much with The Four Prep's song as Soft Cell did with Tainted Love 🎉
Lovely family down to earth guy!!
Great voice!!
Amazing song 🎶
Looking back, it makes no sense that George Michael became a mega-star in the USA, and Paul Young achieved “second tier” fame at best. I’m glad he had great success in the UK and still continues to make great music.
Didn't he lose his voice at some point?
What a stupid comment. George Michael was one of the best singers the U.K. ever produced. You may not like his music but to say he shouldn’t have been popular is just ridiculous.
@@rosycandyhaven OK, literacy is not your strength. Please re-read my post.
They were both good. Paul Young lost interest while George carried on...
Thank you Paul for giving me unforgettable memories with your music in the 80s. You were one of the 3 distinctive singers back then. Always enjoy your music with humility and carefree memories. Thanks a lot 🙏
Such beautiful lyrics, simple but effective music. Old songs really had a meaning to them.
Who all are listening in june 2021?
But my mind is back in the mid 80's
Yes, listening right now!
July 2021 😊
My grandma!!
Plus good arrangement, and his voice!
One of Paul's gem
Love of the Common People and Come Back and Stay, I used to play over and over, and I can still listen to them over and over 36 years later.
Thanks for your incredible support and love towards our music from long ago 💐💞 we made it to the top because of you our lovely fans and I hope you have enjoyed every bit of it. May God bless you 🌹🌹.
Yes just simply a down to earth feel good song.
Beautiful cover of the Every Brothers classic by my fellow Dunstable lad.
Even in 2023 this will still be one massive hit song!!!
A hidden gem. Such an awesome song.
Superbe morceau et premier émois
Februar 24 ich liebe es immer noch ❤️
Reminds me so much of school disco and first year at school in UK. 11yrs old. Weep for those old days back. Atari 2600. Zx81. Spectrum. Tape to tape. Walkman. Alarm/music/space invader watches. Arcades at seaside.
Hey sol cutta...hope your channels going ok...better year ?? Wasn't really was it...still it's aug, soon be time for another new one...good luck with that.😉
