have you thought about or looked into upgrading to the factory 2.5 hmi? I have a 15 Denali. I'm looking to do that.
i have a silverado, and i knew i would have a few options not work going in, and so far, i have zero complaints with the linkswell head unit.
Man bummer. Got mine last week. I have a 2015 and only thing I can’t get working is xm but don’t need it anymore I use the xm app. The unit is bad ass. Does everything a tablet can do going down the road. I don’t have a Denali for the record I have an LTZ. Love the pastor Bullwinkle reference however.
Denali usually come with a Bose set up and would require another module to retain linkswell sells has it listed on the site does say does not retain rear entertainment installation wise we do all the time for the heated seats it’s a programming in settings as far as the other stuff not ran into those issues hope that helps all our clients have been happy with em also XM download app as far as lane assist ect nothing we have ran into of course everything aftermarket will always lose a feature or 2 once changed special on higher end
Did you consider the new gen 5?
No I bought a whole new truck
Do you know where you can find one that has all the features including the option to play Netflix or Hulu?
Ensprime.com it’s called the magic box
@@EddieLife3500 Thank you!
Pretty sure you have to order their adapters for all the missing features.
They offer the plastic grey and the Denali color but not the brushed aluminum bezels like my 2015 GMC Sierra All-Terrain has. Mine are metal, not plastic.
Thank you i was thinking about trying it i have a denali and i purchase the phoenix android and i sent it back
I’ll get it from you I got a basic truck ..lmk?
I sent it back
It’s not compatible with Denali ..I’ve been doing my research because I’m looking to get one and the first thing I found out was that.
everything is much better now my 2010 suburban LTZ everything works in 2022,Mines is not a linkwell but a Phoenix SC7862 12" with Android 10 it has it own sim so need for a hotspot! Sirrus charges for a connection but who needs it music and video I have it without that charge!
It’s because these are made for older trucks. This really isn’t for new trucks that already come with a lot of the stuff it offers
These are good radios but for like basic trucks or work truck builds but damn boss that radio isn’t for you , you have to much got the radio to handle , nice truck btw 👍🏼🔥
Ur missing the miastro module to retain those functions
Why is it so different of an install from a Ford?
Tanks for the info
I got lucky - I have a basic work truck and I love my Linkswell.
I would agree. Factory doesn’t look that bad anyway
You must have Bose in the truck if no audio. they sale an adapter for Bose system. The Denali always comes with Bose
Ya I just sold the truck haha
Thank you very much. This is information I personally need to know. I do not think that a tablet radio is the way I want to go.
You can get xm.. download application...
Denali owners paid for denali options... why pay for the denali if you arent happy with the denali options?
Its not a difficult job...as long as you have a Mario to do it. Haha
If you put this in a Tundra instant upgrade. Denali not so much.
Linkswell didn’t link so well 🤣😂
Sell me this unit.
china scrapp i have same problems 😤
Glad I didn't waste my money
You have a Dinali and you install that crappy radio! That’s what happens when you try to keep up with the Joneses! All credit and zero cash in the bank!
No sir I do not have a Denali
Bummer
Yo give it to me
🤣🤣🤣
give your kid a ipad or a fire tablet.
😃😃😄😄😁😆😆😅😅 gmc
Phoenix is better
My buddy has a 2015 gmc lower class his is not fancy inside and he has that radio and it works bad ass has alot of features
What type of interface did you install to watch videos on oem screen?
How did you get movies to play on the radio screen??
With how integrated headunits are into the vehicle systems, it is near impossible to find an aftermarket headunit that maintains all the features. Back in the day when a radio was a radio, aftermarket headunits were a viable option.
Like I said in a another video. I always look forward to your videos because you’re always super informative and you care about your followers. Great job as always. That was 13 minutes well spent. Thank you.
Love GM too, this is my 4th Chevy...a 16' LTZ CC 4x4 diesel. So imo if you really want the big screen Eddie just get a Dodge so it's all factory. Your Denali is already bad ass and it's just a fact GM is last in tech and will be until they wake up, but 1st in the most important field...Duramax/Allison drive train and that's what keeps me, one of their loyal customer loyal after all these years. I watched this radio being install from their RUclips channel and turned if off once I saw I was loosing some factory options I paid for and love. Keep on making Awesome vids...See Ya👍
I have this and it works for the same vehicle. You have to go to settings and go to steering and select low z. My heated seats and lane departure works fine. It's all in the configuration. This thing is great......
I too have this in my Raptor and it works great!
It does not play well with GMC... maybe with other trims but for Denali it actually ruins the experience
@@ericnajar5030 how
You might have to program the module to the truck? Now a days even the hvac controller module has to be programmed if replaced if not some features like heated seats won’t work
Dam not what I wanna see. Just ordered one a these. Think I’ll have the same problem? I have a Colorado ZR2 thanks
Glad you did the leg work I spent last night looking to see how much they were how long it would take to get.. I will pass too
Ya I’ve been looking for awhile for a new head unit but with every one I find there always something missing that just ain’t worth switching over for.
Question, I have a 2016 tahoe and I have rear seat entertainment what can i modify the suv to have a movie play on the tv and the main screen in the front ?
send your module out to MVI and they will unlock it for you
The problem isn’t the screens or whatever. Like kenwood, alpine, and pioneer have some real good ones. But i only like those for like old cars to put in like a 90 suburban or something.
Been debating it and honestly I waited till someone reviewed it thanks for taking one for the team lol saved me from the headache
So in my 2015 work truck, that doesn’t have any options really, besides a backup camera, this would be pretty slick?
Wondering the same thing
The moral of the story is buy any vehicle fully loaded from the factory and dont mess with the electronics. You wont win.
Thank god you were the test subject for us, I was thinking of buying one of these cause they look awesome, I’m gonna buy the alpine kit it’s twic3 the pric3 but worth it.
Eddie look in to the new alpine radios they have a 9' touch screen that will fit in the factory location and you can keep the features the back DVD player etc
TURNTUPTIM very good stereo !
A 9 foot touch screen man that's what you need!
I was gonna put one into my truck but it cost like a extra 700$ just to get into my Chevy on top of buying the radio and the dash kit so it was well over a 1000 for a install I kept my stock though I still have the alpine with a 9 inch with a DVD blue ray player
Did u happen to watch the video adc mobile did on this install. They also did a video on all the settings. There install was on a fully loaded chevy duramax. Everything seemed to work. The only thing I didn't see him touch on was the rear entertainment screen.
These were made for people with basic trucks, not Denali's.
Are you stoopid. A Denali is a basic truck lmao. A SLT is is SAME exact truck expect the badges and digital dash.
@@forgedcustoms5699 buddy, a SLT is no where close to a Denali💀
@@israelfernandez2467 you must be stoopid af. So a digital dash and some badges and “Denali” engraved on the headrest is soooooooo different than a slt. It’s literally the same truck that’s the only difference. I bet your on of those that owns a old beat to shit denali and flexes it like it’s equivalent to a platinum or limited from ford 🤡
@@forgedcustoms5699 it’s not the same thing bro lmfao
@@israelfernandez2467 what does the Denali have that a slt doesn’t interested
Damn man, that sucks Eddie. Why wouldn't you go with the Alpine restyle head unit for Chevy/GMC??
Because that is one of the ugliest radios I’ve ever seen
@@forgedcustoms5699 but it functions and has a big screen lol
Don’t they offer a setup for just running an IPad like they do on the ford trucks? May want too look into something like that. I believe someone like Retro Customz would offer it for GM vehicles as well.
I was waiting for you to post (DO NOT BUY) lol
Call them out Eddie my dog
I had the Alpine X110 SRA for my '17, 10" screen, DVD, NAV, Bluetooth, ECT... I would still have it but I traded my truck for a '19 Silverado. It is also COMPLETELY plug and play.
How much u selling it for
Eddie...you need to try Phoenix android works great and hooks up too all the factory equipment. I've had one for year and I love it.
I have the SLT basically right under the denali going to buy that headunit. Hope its worth it for $2k lol but for head units seems to be one of the best in the market so far
Pioneer 8200 NEX with Maestro. My truck rocks Eddie. Polk audio speakers, Rockford Fosgate amps and and two twelves downdriven. Wish you could see and hear my truck my friend.
Everyone knows those are junk. Awesome concept but too many big flaws
Seth Walker looks like it’s junk too
I know a few guys that have it and it’s fine. Do you have one?
I was a part of a group buy last year on the duramax page and we all had all kinds of problems so I sent it back. Wasnt willing to give up the features just to have a bigger display. They may have released new firmware updates since then to resolve the lag and other annoyances, but still haven't seen a way around losing the Denali features.
they work super well in 10 times better than the factory radio so you're wrong
if you have a hard time running your cell phone then you probably have a hard time running these
I have a 2017 2500 HD Chevy Midnight and I put the 10.inch alpine restyle kit in and it performs flawlessly with all my truck accessories. 3000 grand but worth every penny.
There is this videos of a guy who installed it on a Chevy. I don’t know if it was a high country or not but he did a step by step on it.
Yeah the way that truck comunicates with in the modules radio,ipc,etc... is the most network and it works as a ring so if you change one module you affect others!
Did you bought that unit from Phoenix Audio ??
no
Eddie look at the alpine i209 system it’s great and looks factory
How did you get the video to play on your main stereo screen?
Most vehicles with dvd screens have the ability to play through the front screen when the parking brake is on so he probably wired up a switch to make it think the parking brake is on. I’m not sure how they are on GMs but my moms Toyota Land Cruiser was like that
Only works in front if you are parked
i had MVI unlock my module for me
Thanks for the review. I had my doubts about this system.
Thats what i have wondered about these displays. Phoenix Automotive is another company, but is probably the same system. That has always been my concern
Those companies have to have a vehicle with all those features when they get all that data. They probably lied when they said it was sent to GM. I’ve ran into those issues while putting data modules to replace radios in almost every modern vehicle.
Looks like it didn't links so well
There is nothing better than OEM in terms of quality, fit and finish, and integration.
Timothy Smith my goodness how did you figure that out?
@@jmart5302 Thousands of wasted dollars on "upgrades". Buy the truck you like have it serviced by the dealership, leave it stock, and enjoy your reliable warranted vehicle then trade it in the same year the warranty runs out.
Plus I've spent a lot of time "undoing" stupid shit like this because now the truck doesnt work like its supposed to and the customer can't figure it out, hacked up all the wiring and wonders why I charged him so much to fix his fuck up.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
Sucks to spend so much on it and u lose a lot of the factory settings no thanks ... stay with the O.G radio n keep all the settings... keep the good videos coming....
Supposedly the Phoenix Android Radios Retain every feature
So did you upgrade the radio with anything else ?
What’s up Eddie 🔥🔥 this completely out of this video but I’m a new subscriber, you got dope content, I just got a 2016 Chevy 2500 and I’m looking to get the same set up delete ( I need help in where to get everything ) thanks bro and thanks for the review on this screen looks dope but like you said it’s not worth losing a bunch of stuff🔥🔥🔥
Thanks man DM me @duramaxking2500
Eddie's Life already did man👍🏼
They sell an add-on for the rear seat entertainment system, they also sell an HD tuner
im starting to release that everything is a dam add on its kind of ridiculous
Cool idea but yeah that sucks that you lost all the features.
Look up ADC MOBILE RUclips channel he has a full install video of that radio. Also has his phone number to call maybe he can help you.
You call them they will ask for an email with details about issues, (keep in mind the email has already been sent), "so do you want me to send an email about the first phone conversation requesting an email to discuss the issues again." I have the gen II in my ram, it's not total junk, but only worth half of what they charge.
Alpine i209 GM head unit...only one I've seen people install in their trucks.
The fact that you lose so many oem features with Linkswell is what made me stop looking at their product. After looking further, the one from Phoenix Radio seems promising as it keeps the oem features. The issue I’ve seen is trying to get support but their newest version seems like it works well on their demo videos on youtube. Im ready to pull the trigger but want to get more info from others that have them.
Did you get the phenix? I heard really bad things about it?
Yeah I ain't put nothing on my truck if it's going to make a few of things not work don't make sense
Get the pheonix screen 12.1 inch vertical screen i had no issues installing it and the guy that sells them puts youtube videos with constant updates
i got rid of the truck does not matter anymore haha
I like how you said your sons TV lol.
Let me buy it from you! I have a bare stock 2017 1500
Pull all the trim and paint it white to match exterior
You want opinions, here's mine... if you have to lose all of the features that you paid for when you bought your truck I would not go forward with the install. Xm and OnStar I could live without but everything else is a hell no for me I'm loving my o.e its decent enough I have only one complaint I dont pay for xm anymore because my commute is only 3 min long but when they have the free xm for a week or two my radio goes through a reset process and also when it cancels again it's annoying I have to reprogram the stations and the equalizer and all my settings. Anyway I wanted to see it work out but obviously it didn't thanks for the update!
I made the purchase from Phoenix Radio for my Tundra but I haven't been able to get it to work been back and forth with the company for the past month but now I'm like wow money down the 🚽
Everytime all the time love the videos
Bad upgrade it but thank you for let us know that is not worth it I have a high country full load it and after I see you video I’m not gonna do anything to put up grade
You should just do the iPad switch
U should call soundmanca.
Hard to make a Denali better they are all ready the best lol. Sorry to here it don’t work. Great vid tho thanks Eddie
Get a alpine stereo bigger screen
That radio probably works great in their Rickshaws over in China!
