- Denis Villeneuve, Prisoners - Denis Villeneuve's "Prisoners" is a crime thriller about every parent's worst nightmare: when their children go missing.
Denis explains to Tribute.ca his apprehension about making his first big Hollywood feature, and how it was ironically the stars of the film who eased his fears.
Prisoners movie synopsis:
How far would you go to protect your child? Keller Dover (Hugh Jackman) is facing every parent's worst nightmare. His six-year-old daughter, Anna, is missing, together with her young friend, Joy, and as minutes turn to hours, panic sets in. The only lead is a dilapidated RV that had earlier been parked on their street.
Heading the investigation, Detective Loki (Jake Gyllenhaal) arrests its driver, Alex Jones (Paul Dano), but a lack of evidence forces the only suspect's release. Knowing his child's life is at stake, the frantic Dover decides he has no choice but to take matters into his own hands. The desperate father will do whatever it takes to find the girls, but in doing so, he may lose himself, begging the question: When do you cross the line between seeking justice and becoming a vigilante?
Starring: Hugh Jackman, Jake Gyllenhaal, Viola Davis, Maria Bello, Terrence Howard, Melissa Leo, Paul Dano
In theatres: September 20, 2013

He sure did lighten it up with his next movie, the lighter-than-air romantic comedy Sicario. Corpses in walls, hilarious!
I love the gag at the end, where the Trampish hero comes face-to-face with a dastard who just won't finish his dinner!
LOL
Denis describing Hugh as a Ferrari and being underused in the industry is the most factual statement. He is so strong in dramatic roles it’s incredible. Hugh Jackman never seize to amaze me. Denis is so underrated as a director as well. Thank you for your remarkable contribution to cinema Denis ❤️
Really great film. It will stay with me for a few days at least. Thankyou Denis.
