This movie deserves the following nominations: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Cinematography and Best Film Editing.
This movie was completely disrespected. The fact that there is only one nomination for this film is a joke. Captain Phillips is a good film, Philomena was really well done and very touching... but this film is beautifully shot and performed and sticks with you like very few films i've seen recently. I'm pretty upset.
completely agree - it is easily of my all time favourite films of last 20 years - so under-recognised and deserved so much more. Every chance I get I promote this film ,and I believe Villeneuve is the best filmmaker currently working
Captain Phillip's compared to prisoners is utterly forgettable. I've watched prisoners 5 plus times and I didnt think captain Phillips warrants a second go
I love listening to Viola talk about the acting process. Building the character and that whole process, before the "result". Love it when she does that.
What it was nominated for: - Best Cinematography What it should have been nominated for: - Best Picture -Best Director - Best Actor (Jackman) - Best Supp. Actor (Gyllenhaal) - Best Originally Screenplay - Best Cinematography
Some films create a brilliant sense of atmosphere. 'Prisoners' is one of those films. From the moment it opens, we are greeted with an ice cold atmosphere that continues until the end, reflecting the chilly weather that pervades through the suburban Pennsylvania setting.
I don't see this going for Best Picture though I would like it for Best Picture but I see it going for Best Actor, Supporting Actor, Original Screenplay, and hopefully Best Supporting Actress for Leo
Just watched the movie this year. Captain Philip and American hustle got nominated but not this?? I thought Leonardo didn't win anything is the worst thing that year
Finally! Someone else who's not interested in The Butler, but of course it's gonna get nominated, the Academy loves political films, especially when it's something to do with THEIR politics, only reason why Lincoln got nominated because you-know-who made it
The acting, directing and cinematography is GREAT in this film, it delivers a haunting, bleak atmosphere throughout. Too bad the story treads into generic, hollywood-thriller territory in the final act. I still really like it though.
Depends on how you define a "generic hollywood thriller". Because if it was so, Dover's character would have been magically saved in the same scene that his daughter was saved. Not to mention, they would actually show the process of Dover getting saved, instead of leaving it ambiguous for the viewers. That would remove the strong aftertaste that this movie ended up having.
Why do you think it looks "eh?" From the previews I've seen, it looks amazing. Plus, it's based on Cormac McCarthy's book (the same guy who wrote The Road and No Country for Old Men), has an amazing cast (Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz), terrific director (Prometheus was good and given his excellent career, aside from the few misses, you can't count him out just yet), and a very intriguing story (I love crime thrillers).
But can it compete with movies like Saving Mr Banks, Wolf of Wall Street, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Inside Llewyn Davis, Blue Jasmine, American Hustle, Rush, The Butler, All is Lost, Nebraska, Secret Life of Walter Mitty
the movie was good but i wouldn't question it not getting nominated for best picture but motherfucker hugh jackman was amazing in this movie i can not believe he didnt get nominated for best actor shit really pissed me off after i saw this movie few months ago i was positive that he would atleast get a nomination if not win it. he really got stiffed its just a shame
We'll have to see. How can you judge its position if you haven't seen the other films yet? Yeah, they might look good and seem like potential for multiple Oscar's (especially Wolf of Wall Street, American Hustle, and The Counselor), but maybe half of these films will turn out bad, and god, I hope they don't nominate The Butler...
he wanted to blame someone to hurt someone. but that breaks laws too. laws that will keep you away from your kid if they are found. people don't think. ill kill to find my kid, ill kill the bastard to who did this to my kid. great job you'll get parent of the year award in prison i guess. come on. loki might have used a bit of excessive force but i was more in his corner then jackman's.
Hands down, best film I've seen all year. Phenomenal performances by the main cast, especially Gyllenhaal
This movie deserves the following nominations: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Original Score, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing, Best Cinematography and Best Film Editing.
And deserves to have won all of them
It got nominated for cinematography I think.
Also Jackmans portrail of crazed father was just incredible

@@whitesoserious6563 Many iconic movies get ignored by the Academy. Think Reservoir Dogs, think Se7en, think Fight Club, and many more.
Captain Phillip's compared to prisoners is utterly forgettable.

Prisoners is my pick for best American movie of 2013, hands down.
so true
Film of the decade, screw avengers endgame
My god Jake is so eloquent and intelligent.
Very talented and criminally underrated.

Viola's finale speech is out of this world for me:)
Another Oscar nomination for Hugh and Jake! And please indicate Prisoners for best picture, because the film deserves.
Academy Conversation: The cast of #Prisoners shares why their thriller is different than any other release.
My Celeb circle is the powerful one.
I would give this movie 100/100 brilliant acting from all, believable situations and emotions, gripping from beginning to end, would see again xx
I love that movie.
Move is beutiful i like it

I can listen to viola speak all day.
Yes, please!
Jake kept mentioning question marks as Paul Dano smiles is a little creepy now that Paul is playing The Riddler lol
Viola is just awesome .
By far the best movie of the last year
All jokes aside who styled Terrence Howard?
This was an amazing but absolutely disturbing film
One of the best movie made in history

CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED
Love Maria's statement about her son.It will also be the best and worst day of my life too
Oscar 2014 - Prisioners for best movie and Hugh Jackman as best actor , Jake Gyllenhall , Melissa Leo for anything ...Please!
Alright! Someone else who thinks Leo should be nominated, I don't know why a lot of people don't talk about her role she was great
Nominate Hugh Jackman for best actor!!!!
I love this film. Villeneuve would be so great at producing series. Imagine!
such an underrated film!!
Haven´t see the film yet, dying to, thouhg, sounds like it´s huge with hugh, ¿got it?
I don't see this going for Best Picture though I would like it for Best Picture but I see it going for Best Actor, Supporting Actor, Original Screenplay, and hopefully Best Supporting Actress for Leo
Amazing story that Blows Minds ;-)
One of the best thriller films ever.
Great film and cast
Just watched the movie this year. Captain Philip and American hustle got nominated but not this?? I thought Leonardo didn't win anything is the worst thing that year
Gyllenhaal and Jackman were both completely snubbed
Finally! Someone else who's not interested in The Butler, but of course it's gonna get nominated, the Academy loves political films, especially when it's something to do with THEIR politics, only reason why Lincoln got nominated because you-know-who made it
Everything is political.

Melissa Leo scares me. She looks absolutely not like 'Holly Jones'
But can it compete with movies like Saving Mr Banks, Wolf of Wall Street, Captain Phillips, Gravity, Inside Llewyn Davis, Blue Jasmine, American Hustle, Rush, The Butler, All is Lost, Nebraska, Secret Life of Walter Mitty
yes

This film is freakin amazing. Oscars did nominate for it because to many prayers in the film and to many sanse of christianity. Oscar is Iluminati
I think it definitely has a chance especially since the nominees list has increased to 10.
If god is a woman, it's Viola Davis
Viola Davis sounds like commentating on a National Geographic channel episode.
It’s 8.1 on gmtb Is such a fking good movie
Imdb
Hugh Jackman robbed of an Oscar Nom for this and Logan. Good job oscars

They did
A good film, an intense thriller. Should receive several Oscar nominations, except I thought Hugh Jackman's performance was a little too over the top.
Given that it's that overly sentimental type of film, it probably will, unfortunately...
I don't think they deserve oscars, but I think they should be nominated.
To me, Jackman's character was as bad as the actual psychopaths.
he wanted to blame someone to hurt someone. but that breaks laws too. laws that will keep you away from your kid if they are found. people don't think. ill kill to find my kid, ill kill the bastard to who did this to my kid. great job you'll get parent of the year award in prison i guess. come on. loki might have used a bit of excessive force but i was more in his corner then jackman's.
Good film, but - plagued by uneven performances, plot holes that can't be ignored, and several stories that are never neatly woven together.
Did we see the same film?
What? What film did you watch?
Plot holes?, you got my attention, which ones for example?
