The hive in this video was approximately five to six weeks old. We can tell the approximate age by the amount, color and size of the combs, the location of capped brood and the location and amount of any open (emerged cells) or darker capped cells. This hive was taken during our privet hedge flow. We joke that it was there two weeks because that's what everyone says. Customers routinely tell us "the bees have been there about two weeks" and then when we see the hive it turns out to be years old sometimes. These people had only been seeing these bees approximately two weeks at this point.

Randy, it’s great when we get a little of Mr Ed and a lot of you in the same day! Thanks for showing your Dad in this video. I got to talk to him at the Hive Life conference and he’s a fine Man and raised 2 fine sons! I hope that he gets to attend the Hive Life in 2023. Some of our prayer group folks still ask about him occasionally and I still pray for him occasionally. He seems like a very humble man.

Just wondering why every time Pete finds the queen, the rest of the removal mysteriously ends and the B role starts playing. Also, I know you love showing how you eat honey comb, why not donuts as well? God's peace brother.
If I had to guess, I'd say they don't want to have to fight the bees for the donuts. Sugar is sugar, and they'll go for it if they're hungry...and eating a bee..well, we've all giggled at those dog photos~

Any time I am a little down I watch your channel and feel better. My uncle was a beekeeper in Oregon. He loved working his bees even though he was really allergic to them and had to suit up for everything.
You know I’m disabled and handicapped I can’t walk for anymore but talking about the parking place for handicapped people I’ve seen people parked in the spots that didn’t have a sticker or plates on their car parked in them places and not one thing wrong with them. Lol time for a bb on the valve stem core..insert bb screw on the cap loose enough to let air escape or easier yet, I have the core remover..let the air out.. inconvenience them. I'm not disabled but my friend is. It doesn't hurt the tire, it's just letting the air out . Yes, I make sure they AREN'T disabled.. usually just fat and lazy..lol
I have never seen a Family Dollar and a Dollar General right beside each other before, practically sharing the parking lot.

Love your channel. Super educational. I'm a plant geek. Privet is a type of ligustrum. The horrible invasive Chinese privet is a pain. The ones being sold in nurseries are not usually a problem. Their bloom times are probably pretty much the same. I enjoy your videos so much. Thanks for sharing. I moved from Mississippi to Georgia 30 years ago. Good grief, that's a lot of bees! Could they have done that much comb-building in two weeks? That comb was very light and still soft too. The resident seems like a genuinely cool dude, and the donuts looked might delish! Give Dad a hug from us, will you, and tell him happy Father's Day as well.

I thought you would like to know .. I drove 4.5 hr. to get honey bees today I got there at 8;30 AM drove back home 4.5 hr. with AC on to keep bees cool got home to find most if not all bees dead from over heated . Pearson I got them from put too many bees in the hives not sure how to take this I paid cache with no chance for refund, Was on good faith. I love bee keeping not to sure about some of the people.. I needed to get that out there .... Thank you for your thought good or Bad!!
That's terrible Roy. A nine hour drive is tough enough without the loss of investment and disappointment of finding your bees dead on arrival. I'm assuming it was a nuc?
I had a customer two weeks ago who killed a really strong nuc within a day of picking them up. After a little investigation I figured out what happened. He hauled them home on top of his spare tire in the rear hatch of his Prius, or as I like to call it his mobile wax melter, and didn't take them out of the car as soon as he got home. The nuc (Pro Nuc box) sat really close to the rear glass and took enough heat to kill the brood. A good amount of bees survived but they absconded that afternoon. I replaced the nuc free of charge and actually delivered it and set it up for him two days later (2.5 hour round trip). I had two reasons for doing this. Number one was I wanted to inspect the frames for myself. Number two was he has been a customer for four years and has bought about a dozen nucs from me over the years.
Not knowing either of you I'll give a very unbiased opinion. I routinely have customers drive as far as you did for just one nuc. Most buy two or three but some just want one. I always send them away with two just in case of queen failure, overheating, rolling the queen while transferring and so on. It's easy to do something wrong if you're not used to transporting bees long distances or even on that sellers side if you aren't used to selling nucs ready for long trip. If that were me and you sent me photographic proof of the dead hive that same day I'd likely send a refund. In most cases though nucs are pretty much sold with a tail light warranty. That means when I can't see your tail lights any more the warranty has expired.

I have bought Bees from Spokane WA and the bees live the haul from there to here, this was a two supper hive with three supper amount of bees in it if I had any Idea of that I would have not pick them up . This probably will sound crazy but what if someone had a spray can of if they made nitrogen so weak that it would make the bees so lethargic but not kill the bees now. It would kinda be cold enough to make the bees sluggish long enough time to just scoop them up. Just a idea

Yeah, it was a shame to make them start all over. None of the comb was firm enough to salvage. It went straight to the melter.

I’m surprised you don’t use one of those flexible inspection cameras. I’ve used spherical magnets to find fasteners in drywall for many years. Search for K&J.
