Light Bowgun Thoughts: Good: Access to 5 lv2 poison, 5 lv1 sleep, and 5lv1 AND lv2 exhaust makes this one of the best status effect bowguns in the game. Bad: No access to triple shot, meaning it will be very weak for DPS using normal or dragon ammo.
Health boost makes sense to me on the insect glaive. Where do you get health essence most of the time? The tail. What is jho's second favorite snack? his tail.
VeemonKing no the health boost is the boost that the weapon Gives to the kinsect. It will allow you to heal more from Green extracts no matter the kinsect
You can make a very good support set by adding a wide area charm and the Tzitzi Waist to the alpha armor. You get: Wide Area +5 Speed Eating +3 Handicraft +2 Part Breaker +3 Latent Power+2 Keep everyone one alive while breaking all parts to ensure max rewards.
I think they trying to add midgame content right now, and waiting till later to focus on End Game Stuff. What with the Events Armor and Deviljho's Armor. Maybe the Third Monster they add to the same will have a Set Bonus.
The HBG looks like quite a good Normal 3 weapon, as long as its possible to mod the reload to Normal and the Recoil to +2. With 33% more ammo capacity, 40 more raw than fussilade and 10 more than Blazooka, this may be the best Normal shooter in the game right now.
Health boost for the insect glance could be because of how your metabolism works with how people heal and as we all know deviljho likes to eat so he must have a strong metabolism

Hey, Gaijin! I'm a huge fan and really appreciate all the incredible content and information you put out. There's an aspect of the pickle equipment that I think a lot of people missed, and that's the synergy between the armor, the weapons, and the monster's combat style. When you combine the weapons with the armor skills, the make playing like a Deviljho very rewarding. You go super agro to get hit and activate Latent Power and remove your negative affinity, chug potions quickly recover, and spend the fight breaking and staggering your enemy. While I was hoping for a set skill (Deviljho's hunger: gain stamina with attacks), I think the thought that went into the skills and how they represent the monster was incredible. Thanks for all the awesome content!
For the HBG, 3 sticky level 3s and 1 cluster level 3 (yeah, just the one) is the best you can get. It looks like a good alternative to Zorah if you want Wyvernheart instead of Wyvernsnipe.
I fought deviljho last night and was surprised it wasn't as challenging as I had been hyping it up to be. Though the weapons are all cool looking and I was lucky enough to get a gem on my first capture! Thanks for the video! You're always my go-to for this information!
At HR13 he's probably pretty difficult, like Anjanath the first time you fight him. And it might be harder if you're using weapons with no hyper armor and no shields, I wouldn't know because I fought him twice with the lance, first fight in Elder's Recess expedition with 2 others, second time in the special assignment solo for the first half and with 2 others until he died, or maybe I captured him, I forgot. EDIT: Forgot to mention, I am HR45.
Honestly I was disappointed, first time I fought the dreaded pickle, and he was sort of a pushover. The only real annoyance is his wide attack range. His Armour is of literally no use to me, his weapon tree is terrible, at least in my weapon tree of choice is terrible. I mean I have no incentive to ever hunt him again =( I was excited.
Ran into him on a expedition with my newbie hunter friends. They can handle bazel because he is slow and telegraphs all his attacks way ahead of time. Jho on the other hand....well, lets just say that if it wasn't a expedition we'd have failed the quest thrice over lol. I'm HR29 and he almost carted me with a wombo combo I found out he had (level 3 health boost saved me) Cart counts were 0 from me (almost tho), 2 from my more experienced of my friends, and 5 from the newbie lol.
Hehe that's funny cause I'm the opposite. Deviljho I can handle but Bazel I avoid like the plague. Guess that's just everyone's experiences being different.

Ok, first off, good to see old Jho back in the game! And those turf wars are INSANE!! Secondly, holy heck I forgot how much I love the Jho weapon and armor designs! That CB and IG look super cool! I don't plan on using CB a whole lot, but I'm certainly making this one. PS) Yes please let us know if the Bowguns are good. lol I love LBG and HBG, but I suck at being able to tell which weapons are good or bad or w/e.
Oh man. Ive been waiting for the jho hunting horn for weeks because i knew it had to be awesome. It is living up to the hype for sure. My favorite hunting horn by far in this game
I just learned from you that white sharpness stops your weapons from bouncing when hitting a hard monster part, like what the skill Mind's Eye does! That is awesome considering I was disappointed that these weapons don't have any jewel slots for the mind eye jewel! Thank you gaijin for "casually" pointing that out :-)

I'm glad I wasn't the only one disappointed with the armor skills, especially considering his status. He is popular, showing up in each edition since Tri. Him and his varients are fun to hunt. And of course his titles of World Eater and Non-Elder Elder Dragon. I didn't expect him to have something over the top like +5 Atk Up and Crit Eye, +3 Handicraft, Mind's Eye, etc etc. But at least a three piece set bonus. At lease his weapons are well done.

Great content as always! One small critique: shouldn't Handicraft +5 Deviljho weapons be compared with, say Attack +5 Nergigante weapons or something similar, rather than vanilla Nerg? It seems like that would tilt the damage equation in favor of Nerg.

Caleb Imrie Give them some slack. Some of its weapons are just like Diablos. Raw damage to make up for its negative affinity. Also it's free, I dont see why people complaining when Deviljho is a good addition. And despite your negativity towards the game, the future looks pretty bright for MHW. You can't expect every monster they add to have the highest armor and weapons stats either.
The problem isn't Capcom, the problem is the fanbase that hypes up every monster because for some reason they compare a HR monster in MHW to the G-Rank/Savage version from earlier games.

That being said, the LBG is currently the strongest spread LBG (unless you want to use Jyura Bullet with spread 2 spam, both are good options). The HBG is essentially a new RNG-cluster spam cannon, beating out the Magda Gemitus for raw.
I know everyone seems to be shitting on the LBG, but after building a set around the spread 3 ammo and wyvernblast I found it quite fun to play. Needs only two recoil mods for +2 recoil, leaving room for a close range mod. Ammo Up 3 gives spread 3 a 3 round clip, and built focus and special ammo boost for plenty of beefy explosions. It's not insanely high deeps probably, but it fills a small niche that some people could try if they want something new. One of my favorite LBG sets now, actually!
Caught it on my 1st encounter and carved a jem. Then got a gem via rewards! Thanks to you, now Ill have a better understanding to what I should do with them. Thanks!

So Fatal Bite, Berserker Sword, Wrathful Predation, Devil's Crush, Deep Vero, Fiendish Tower, Terror Tyrannos, Tyrant's Charge Blade, Grunge Storm and Villainous Brace. I have a set of weapons to now craft.
Really, one of you guys who does MHW videos needs to look at the damage of Zorah Magdoros' gunlance. Long Lv4, and the most shot damage I've been able to find in gunlances. I usually stick to full sets when I play the game, personal choice, so I use either Dodogama's set or Anjanath's set with my gunlances. The Magda Lahat overpowers Nergigante's AND Rathian's with 510 blast element (with Dodogama's set) and the extra shot in the chamber. It makes it possible to use EVERY aspect of the gunlance to its fullest, from charge shots and normal shots to full burst and wyvern's fire. I'm going to try Deviljho's, but I just don't see it unseating my Earthshaker Magda Lahat. Unless they stealth-nerfed it in the patch. I think that 510 blast might have had something to do with the crazy numbers I've seen with it compared to other gunlances.
It seems like the Heavy Bowgun is meant to wear down a monster as well as the raw power of the normal shots. The Sleep and Exhaust shots make it feel you're supposed to tire out what you're hunting then tear it apart. Also, I got lucky on my first Jho hunt :P Snagged me a gem early so now I just gotta farm for the other parts.
Yea i was really dissapointed that there is no set bonus. But still cool to have. The bigger and more this game gets the better. I hope they bring frontier monsters in.
Hi Gaijin, I think the IG having health boost also speaks to Deviljho because it loves to eat and eat, so boosting the health extraction of the insect sort of makes sense as well? To me it makes the insect also hungry for food :P
For my "facebreaker" set this is going to replace the zorah magdaros hbg. i use sticky shots with partbreaker and KO skills that dont scale with crit AT ALL (be it negative or positive) so this weapon being a higher raw than zorahs is really great. the point of the set is to break faces for parts and then quit out to get the drops like Majestic Horn, Vaal Hazak Fang+, and Black Spiral Horn+ thanks for the video =]
First encounter with Jho was in Ancient Forest. When I found him he had a Kadachi in his mouth and was just slamming the poor thing over and over again. I felt kind of bad for it.

“...or the Dober legs...” Actually, I think you mean the Death Stench Heel B, which gives you Handicraft. Dober legs give Attack +2, and not Handicraft.
Great vid Gaijin! I love how the armor looks aswell.. but I agree in your disappointment. Personally these are my problems with the armor skills: Speed eating - In all monster hunters I hate this skill. It makes you a worse hunter physically and morally! You should feel BAD when you take a sip of the evil poison that is a mega potion. Not try and make a skill to drink them faster! *HERESY* ! (I am the only liquid you need), in seriousness though healing is OP enough in this version around imo. If your able to kill Jho without fainting you won't need to heal quicker at this point. Partbreaker - A useful skill, however I have already crafted a homemade lovely partbreaking set so this doesn't appeal to me either...Maybe they can be made better using some of these Jho pieces but I doubt it (I will have to check) Latent power - Meh. Handicraft - One of my fave skills. However only 1 for each piece, because of that i'm not sure it's possible to make the best handicraft set using a Jho piece.. It hurt when I saw the A helmet giving up Handicraft for Beta.. No unique skill set bonus? That's the biggest disappointment for me. They could have really been creative here considering it's Jho lol. Weapons are interesting, thank you for the in-depth analysis I noticed this must be where they shine aswell. My dps sets are currently only orientated to affinity and critical eye/attack etc and some high powered disgusting elemental sets.., I'll have to make some new sets or modifications to my existing ones and test these bad boys out. Will be interesting to compare times/DPS to my current best DPS sets...
I'm not too fond of the Bowguns, but as a reference, it will be the only one, besides Legiana, that has all levels of both Sleep and Exhaust. It will also have pretty much the same Capacities as the Zorah Magdaros' one (except it is missing Recover Lv1, Paralysis Lv 2, Flaming and Armor, and will be getting 5 Sleep Lv1, 2 Slicing and +1 Demon).
The bowguns are meant for spread 3. If you free element it has 3 in the mag. Current spread bowguns are Nergi's hbg and Gulgoth's Wail. Which both of these beat those out.
My main problem with DJ's (abbreviating) weapons is that, the melee ones needed handicraft, almost exclusively. I don't mind the negative affinity; DK eyepatch will negate that most of the time anyway. But you would need to give up something in order to lengthen the DJ weapon's sharpness. And then it doesn't have slots. Saying this as a glaive user. Guess I'll need to replace my arms with Vaal's to have more slots. At least you can take off the dragon jewels and replace the slots with something else.
For the Bowguns, they seem to be boasting that it has all the lvl 3 ammos, making it a decent all-arounder with high attack. While the clip size isn’t that impressive for the lbg, it can be fixed with the skill that makes your clips bigger, making it a decent size. Same with the hbg. The big thing with it is that both guns have 3 clips of dragon ammo, which is rare since it is basically a dragon pod. It can be really potent if the deviljho lbg can rapid fire it as well. Wyvernheart is also a good skill for the hbg, since it has such high raw. Might not be the best options, but it is a good one for having several ammo types.
His bowguns are supposed to be a sticky2/3 and slicing main hybrid gun. it's supposed to balance the low storage of each ammo by being the only gun to be able to use both. Its not a bad idea, but I feel that it's really hard to make a build that makes both ammo types viable at the same time. Sticky bomb 3 needs to have ammo up and max artillery skill maxed to do good dps and KO maxed to do very reliable support ailments. Slicing on the other hand needs all the dmg and crit it can get to do alright dps. Both ammo types have conflicting skills requirements that do not have synergy with one another. If anything the deviljho guns have the best sticky 3 guns out there. I would think it would have been a reliable sticky/slicing hybrid if they didn't nerf the slicing ammo dmg so hard. srsly... If they only made the choice of only hard nerfing the dmg or only nerfing the storage and a slight damage decrease then it would have still been a viable pick. But since they did both then slicing is practically useless. Sticky 3 is very viable because of consistent dmg on every body part and really good at KO. So deviljho guns are just sticky guns.
The LBG has some promise. I was hoping for another that could run all 3 sticky ammo types. With xeno set bonus, free element/ammo up, and artillery you can regularly put 18 or so sticky and slicing shots quickly with recoil suppressor on all 3 and cycling types rather than reload. Won't have to bother with weakness exploit or even targeting weak spots since sticky gives no fucks. Fun build I have already tried with dai onigaishima or whatever and this has better status gunning uses. Just cycle the ammo types rather than reloading, save that for after putting them to sleep and bombing them.
Like a few of the LBGs in World, the niche of the Jho one seems to be that it can fire ammo that most LBGs can't. In this case, that's all three types of sticky and all the lv3 basic shots which are all rare for a LBG. Low clip sizes are alleviated somewhat in World by the easilly available capacity up skill (2/3 points from kirin legs alone) which is a big boost, but a bigger problem than any of the other numbers is that LBG suffers hugely from recoil above +2, so unless the recoil supressor mods are so strong that they reduce them all the way down 2 levels, it's too unwieldy to be good. The wyvernblast numbers probably look pretty tasty though.
Wow, so I checked now and that's exactly the case. Applying 2x recoil supressor takes Spread 3 recoil ALLLLLLL the way down from max to +2, so it might be the best spread light bowgun!
Don't think anyone mentioned it yet (atleast not on the initial comment page), but the charge blade you showed/talked about was only the initial rarity 6 not the upgrade rarity 7. Also Deviljo is badass, but a pain in the ass to fight if you don't have any hills/ledges, just so damned tall to reach anything but legs >
Looks like after a fall from grace in mh4u and mhgen, Deviljho weapons are back being the strongest. Deviljho Great Sword, longsword and lance were the best raw weapons in their category in mh3u. The other were fine too. Too bad, the armor is not great (maybe an upcoming savage Deviljho will correct that). I guess it will be farming of Deviljho but it is one of my favorite monsters and he is great in mhworld. Again, I like your tutorials/presentations.
Lance baldonado i would love gigginox FUCK KHEZU but there are no actual environments for them that i can think of. Zinogre, Nargacuga and Seltas/Queen would fit like a glove tho

Regarding the Insect Glaive, Health Boost will allow for the Kinsect to recover its Stamina more quickly, this one is meant to be used By tagging the Kinsect to the monster and forget about it, in my opinion anyways
for hbg i found myself using the Legiana and the Ore tree. Legiana is king of pierce. Low recoil, high clip size and NO deviation. Slap one recoil mod to shoot pierce 3 like a machinegun and two long range mod to mac the dps. The ore tree is the only one that had good normal 3 clip size (unlike previous games the level 3 ammo is just a straight upgrade from the previous levels) without having high deviation or recoil. Also i really like putting one shield mod on my hbg, it give a lot of utility and saved me more times than i can count. Legiana HBG tho is so good it's almost disgusting
You said that critical hit doesn't change elemental damage. There is the Rathalos set which gives a bonus damage for elemental effect on critical hit. BTW I don't know how much...
I did move my Deviljho long sword up to 20% affinity with a booster. With affinity, even a little is insane. Unfortunately you give up a lot for the weapon, so I'm thinking of adding latent power with my current set that brings it to 0 affinity.
People are thinking of the Deviljho from MH3U when he just showed up during one of the first high rank hunts you do and he would absolutely nuke your shit, he was almost impossible for a nooby team to take him out as they were that point in the game when he showed up, and it was absolutely terrifying for a new player xD or most players for that matter Having a massive dinosaur looking mofo randomly showing up with the scariest music youve ever heard, thats several times larger than the small monster you were fighting, shooting dragon lasers out his face, was scary yo. I think the delivery for Jho in the game was all wrong, i dont have the game yet, but i let myself see bits of the fight, and i find that the awful investigation beforehand, and knowing that you are going to run into him, kinda ruins the surprise, he wasnt showcased as a random encounter and nearly impossible boss fight for you to tackle later once you become a badass, kiiiiinda like how Zorah is shown to be, but ive heard Zorah is the new Lao Shan, so who cares right? XD
Love the video! What armor should i aim for since i have the devil jho GS? I used to use crit draw but with a -30% affinity i feel like i need to work on a new set. What would you suggest?
So, when you play with -affinity weapons is it generally a good idea to build such that you even that out to a flat 0%? When I have been playing (Not at end game mind you so maybe it'll feel better with the higher tier weapons) It always just feels weaker and not as good. Maybe that's just me and something I get used to but I wasn't sure so figured I'd ask.
It happened to me as well in elders recess and as this was my first time fighting the deviljho i also went ahead fought it with IG and almost killed him he was limping and went to sleep when i woke him up he just ran and left the locale.
The bow guns have decent weapon damage, however it’s really crazy deviation and ammo load speeds make it terrible. The best I’ve been able to make them so far is LBG slicing ammo build and HBG bomber build ( sticky/cluster bombs )
Only your first affinity augment will give you 10%, the second or third will only give you 5%. Because of this, it is very often not worth it to use more than 1 affinity augment and instead take 1 affinity and use attack for the remaining augments if applicable.
The bowguns seem to be focusing more on an Exhaust build. I guess that fits with the Deviljho theme, but I personally don't think Exhaust is that great on the bowguns.
The light bow gun isn't actually that bad sure the ammo choices aren't the best but it's still very much useable and even tho it's says high deviation I actually didn't notice it
Love your vids. I'm also a veteran and it kills me to have to keep telling people, "they cant release content as fast as they did in the old versions. Why? Cause they built an entire fucking ecosystem lol." Its ridiculous what they did with this, every monster seems like it belongs there, with others that roam like bazel just kinda being everywhere. But they cant just throw monsters in since they literally have to fit them in place with the new ecosystem with the whole packages including turfs wars etc. Thats a lot of work for just one monster at a time so.
Jho is slightly superior in that the damage he does is slightly larger. On the armour i wish they would have done a set skill to capture his hunger. Like the lower you're stamina drops the higher your attack gets. Could have called the skill Ravenous hunger.
Hmm... Not sure about the Gunlance being definitive for long shelling. It only has shell level 3, unless the raw is so high other GLs with shell level 4 have a negligible difference? The hazak spysa GL has pretty potent shelling power, usually dealing more damage than my pokes even with weakness exploit on.

When you combine the weapons with the armor skills, the make playing like a Deviljho very rewarding. You go super agro to get hit and activate Latent Power and remove your negative affinity, chug potions quickly recover, and spend the fight breaking and staggering your enemy. While I was hoping for a set skill (Deviljho's hunger: gain stamina with attacks), I think the thought that went into the skills and how they represent the monster was incredible. Thanks for all the awesome content!
For the HBG, 3 sticky level 3s and 1 cluster level 3 (yeah, just the one) is the best you can get. It looks like a good alternative to Zorah if you want Wyvernheart instead of Wyvernsnipe.
I fought deviljho last night and was surprised it wasn't as challenging as I had been hyping it up to be. Though the weapons are all cool looking and I was lucky enough to get a gem on my first capture! Thanks for the video! You're always my go-to for this information!
At HR13 he's probably pretty difficult, like Anjanath the first time you fight him. And it might be harder if you're using weapons with no hyper armor and no shields, I wouldn't know because I fought him twice with the lance, first fight in Elder's Recess expedition with 2 others, second time in the special assignment solo for the first half and with 2 others until he died, or maybe I captured him, I forgot.

Lol yeah I took him down with my HH plus I was a pretty high HR as well. to be fair that tail swinging around really covers a lot of ground.
Honestly I was disappointed, first time I fought the dreaded pickle, and he was sort of a pushover. The only real annoyance is his wide attack range. His Armour is of literally no use to me, his weapon tree is terrible, at least in my weapon tree of choice is terrible. I mean I have no incentive to ever hunt him again =( I was excited.
Ran into him on a expedition with my newbie hunter friends. They can handle bazel because he is slow and telegraphs all his attacks way ahead of time.
Jho on the other hand....well, lets just say that if it wasn't a expedition we'd have failed the quest thrice over lol. I'm HR29 and he almost carted me with a wombo combo I found out he had (level 3 health boost saved me)
Cart counts were 0 from me (almost tho), 2 from my more experienced of my friends, and 5 from the newbie lol.

I just learned from you that white sharpness stops your weapons from bouncing when hitting a hard monster part, like what the skill Mind's Eye does! That is awesome considering I was disappointed that these weapons don't have any jewel slots for the mind eye jewel! Thank you gaijin for "casually" pointing that out :-)
In my experience, the gems drop like candy, but that damn saliva drop doesn't exist.

You need to at least break its belly for the saliva to drop. If that doesn't work, try breaking all of it's body parts. If it still doesn't work, break it's spirit. Not yet? Break it's will to live.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one disappointed with the armor skills, especially considering his status. He is popular, showing up in each edition since Tri. Him and his varients are fun to hunt. And of course his titles of World Eater and Non-Elder Elder Dragon. I didn't expect him to have something over the top like +5 Atk Up and Crit Eye, +3 Handicraft, Mind's Eye, etc etc. But at least a three piece set bonus. At lease his weapons are well done.

Great content as always! One small critique: shouldn't Handicraft +5 Deviljho weapons be compared with, say Attack +5 Nergigante weapons or something similar, rather than vanilla Nerg? It seems like that would tilt the damage equation in favor of Nerg.

Also it's free, I dont see why people complaining when Deviljho is a good addition. And despite your negativity towards the game, the future looks pretty bright for MHW. You can't expect every monster they add to have the highest armor and weapons stats either.
The problem isn't Capcom, the problem is the fanbase that hypes up every monster because for some reason they compare a HR monster in MHW to the G-Rank/Savage version from earlier games.

That being said, the LBG is currently the strongest spread LBG (unless you want to use Jyura Bullet with spread 2 spam, both are good options). The HBG is essentially a new RNG-cluster spam cannon, beating out the Magda Gemitus for raw.
I know everyone seems to be shitting on the LBG, but after building a set around the spread 3 ammo and wyvernblast I found it quite fun to play. Needs only two recoil mods for +2 recoil, leaving room for a close range mod. Ammo Up 3 gives spread 3 a 3 round clip, and built focus and special ammo boost for plenty of beefy explosions. It's not insanely high deeps probably, but it fills a small niche that some people could try if they want something new. One of my favorite LBG sets now, actually!

The best thing about the LBG is that unlike most other's, it's recoil for Dragon shot is +2 while the other's are almost always +4.

The highlight of LBG is Lv.3 Dragon shot. 3 rounds with just recoil+2 mean you can run & gun with it. Great against elder dragons.
So Fatal Bite, Berserker Sword, Wrathful Predation, Devil's Crush, Deep Vero, Fiendish Tower, Terror Tyrannos, Tyrant's Charge Blade, Grunge Storm and Villainous Brace. I have a set of weapons to now craft.
Really, one of you guys who does MHW videos needs to look at the damage of Zorah Magdoros' gunlance. Long Lv4, and the most shot damage I've been able to find in gunlances. I usually stick to full sets when I play the game, personal choice, so I use either Dodogama's set or Anjanath's set with my gunlances. The Magda Lahat overpowers Nergigante's AND Rathian's with 510 blast element (with Dodogama's set) and the extra shot in the chamber. It makes it possible to use EVERY aspect of the gunlance to its fullest, from charge shots and normal shots to full burst and wyvern's fire. I'm going to try Deviljho's, but I just don't see it unseating my Earthshaker Magda Lahat.
Unless they stealth-nerfed it in the patch. I think that 510 blast might have had something to do with the crazy numbers I've seen with it compared to other gunlances.

It seems like the Heavy Bowgun is meant to wear down a monster as well as the raw power of the normal shots. The Sleep and Exhaust shots make it feel you're supposed to tire out what you're hunting then tear it apart.
Also, I got lucky on my first Jho hunt :P Snagged me a gem early so now I just gotta farm for the other parts.
Yea i was really dissapointed that there is no set bonus. But still cool to have. The bigger and more this game gets the better. I hope they bring frontier monsters in.

Hi Gaijin, I think the IG having health boost also speaks to Deviljho because it loves to eat and eat, so boosting the health extraction of the insect sort of makes sense as well? To me it makes the insect also hungry for food :P
For my "facebreaker" set this is going to replace the zorah magdaros hbg. i use sticky shots with partbreaker and KO skills that dont scale with crit AT ALL (be it negative or positive) so this weapon being a higher raw than zorahs is really great.
the point of the set is to break faces for parts and then quit out to get the drops like Majestic Horn, Vaal Hazak Fang+, and Black Spiral Horn+

First encounter with Jho was in Ancient Forest. When I found him he had a Kadachi in his mouth and was just slamming the poor thing over and over again. I felt kind of bad for it.

Actually, I think you mean the Death Stench Heel B, which gives you Handicraft. Dober legs give Attack +2, and not Handicraft.

I love how the armor looks aswell.. but I agree in your disappointment.
Personally these are my problems with the armor skills:
Speed eating - In all monster hunters I hate this skill. It makes you a worse hunter physically and morally! You should feel BAD when you take a sip of the evil poison that is a mega potion. Not try and make a skill to drink them faster! *HERESY* ! (I am the only liquid you need), in seriousness though healing is OP enough in this version around imo. If your able to kill Jho without fainting you won't need to heal quicker at this point.
Partbreaker - A useful skill, however I have already crafted a homemade lovely partbreaking set so this doesn't appeal to me either...Maybe they can be made better using some of these Jho pieces but I doubt it (I will have to check)
Latent power - Meh.
Handicraft - One of my fave skills. However only 1 for each piece, because of that i'm not sure it's possible to make the best handicraft set using a Jho piece.. It hurt when I saw the A helmet giving up Handicraft for Beta..
No unique skill set bonus? That's the biggest disappointment for me. They could have really been creative here considering it's Jho lol.
Weapons are interesting, thank you for the in-depth analysis I noticed this must be where they shine aswell. My dps sets are currently only orientated to affinity and critical eye/attack etc and some high powered disgusting elemental sets.., I'll have to make some new sets or modifications to my existing ones and test these bad boys out.
Will be interesting to compare times/DPS to my current best DPS sets...
I main Lance and the Deviljhoe one is amazing. Also I picked up the Hunting horn because of the Deviljhoe version
I'm not too fond of the Bowguns, but as a reference, it will be the only one, besides Legiana, that has all levels of both Sleep and Exhaust. It will also have pretty much the same Capacities as the Zorah Magdaros' one (except it is missing Recover Lv1, Paralysis Lv 2, Flaming and Armor, and will be getting 5 Sleep Lv1, 2 Slicing and +1 Demon).
The bowguns are meant for spread 3. If you free element it has 3 in the mag. Current spread bowguns are Nergi's hbg and Gulgoth's Wail. Which both of these beat those out.
My main problem with DJ's (abbreviating) weapons is that, the melee ones needed handicraft, almost exclusively. I don't mind the negative affinity; DK eyepatch will negate that most of the time anyway. But you would need to give up something in order to lengthen the DJ weapon's sharpness. And then it doesn't have slots. Saying this as a glaive user.
Guess I'll need to replace my arms with Vaal's to have more slots. At least you can take off the dragon jewels and replace the slots with something else.
For the Bowguns, they seem to be boasting that it has all the lvl 3 ammos, making it a decent all-arounder with high attack. While the clip size isn’t that impressive for the lbg, it can be fixed with the skill that makes your clips bigger, making it a decent size. Same with the hbg. The big thing with it is that both guns have 3 clips of dragon ammo, which is rare since it is basically a dragon pod. It can be really potent if the deviljho lbg can rapid fire it as well. Wyvernheart is also a good skill for the hbg, since it has such high raw. Might not be the best options, but it is a good one for having several ammo types.
His bowguns are supposed to be a sticky2/3 and slicing main hybrid gun. it's supposed to balance the low storage of each ammo by being the only gun to be able to use both. Its not a bad idea, but I feel that it's really hard to make a build that makes both ammo types viable at the same time.
Sticky bomb 3 needs to have ammo up and max artillery skill maxed to do good dps and KO maxed to do very reliable support ailments. Slicing on the other hand needs all the dmg and crit it can get to do alright dps. Both ammo types have conflicting skills requirements that do not have synergy with one another.
If anything the deviljho guns have the best sticky 3 guns out there. I would think it would have been a reliable sticky/slicing hybrid if they didn't nerf the slicing ammo dmg so hard. srsly... If they only made the choice of only hard nerfing the dmg or only nerfing the storage and a slight damage decrease then it would have still been a viable pick. But since they did both then slicing is practically useless.
Sticky 3 is very viable because of consistent dmg on every body part and really good at KO. So deviljho guns are just sticky guns.
They've done Power Phial on some unexpected Switch Axes. The Rathalos Switch Axe is also a Powe Phial.
I'm going to farm the parts so hard tonight! need that horn :D

The LBG has some promise. I was hoping for another that could run all 3 sticky ammo types. With xeno set bonus, free element/ammo up, and artillery you can regularly put 18 or so sticky and slicing shots quickly with recoil suppressor on all 3 and cycling types rather than reload. Won't have to bother with weakness exploit or even targeting weak spots since sticky gives no fucks. Fun build I have already tried with dai onigaishima or whatever and this has better status gunning uses. Just cycle the ammo types rather than reloading, save that for after putting them to sleep and bombing them.
Like a few of the LBGs in World, the niche of the Jho one seems to be that it can fire ammo that most LBGs can't. In this case, that's all three types of sticky and all the lv3 basic shots which are all rare for a LBG. Low clip sizes are alleviated somewhat in World by the easilly available capacity up skill (2/3 points from kirin legs alone) which is a big boost, but a bigger problem than any of the other numbers is that LBG suffers hugely from recoil above +2, so unless the recoil supressor mods are so strong that they reduce them all the way down 2 levels, it's too unwieldy to be good.
The wyvernblast numbers probably look pretty tasty though.
Wow, so I checked now and that's exactly the case. Applying 2x recoil supressor takes Spread 3 recoil ALLLLLLL the way down from max to +2, so it might be the best spread light bowgun!

Also Deviljo is badass, but a pain in the ass to fight if you don't have any hills/ledges, just so damned tall to reach anything but legs >
Looks like after a fall from grace in mh4u and mhgen, Deviljho weapons are back being the strongest. Deviljho Great Sword, longsword and lance were the best raw weapons in their category in mh3u. The other were fine too. Too bad, the armor is not great (maybe an upcoming savage Deviljho will correct that). I guess it will be farming of Deviljho but it is one of my favorite monsters and he is great in mhworld. Again, I like your tutorials/presentations.

Regarding the Insect Glaive, Health Boost will allow for the Kinsect to recover its Stamina more quickly, this one is meant to be used By tagging the Kinsect to the monster and forget about it, in my opinion anyways
for hbg i found myself using the Legiana and the Ore tree.
Legiana is king of pierce. Low recoil, high clip size and NO deviation. Slap one recoil mod to shoot pierce 3 like a machinegun and two long range mod to mac the dps.
The ore tree is the only one that had good normal 3 clip size (unlike previous games the level 3 ammo is just a straight upgrade from the previous levels) without having high deviation or recoil.
Also i really like putting one shield mod on my hbg, it give a lot of utility and saved me more times than i can count.
Legiana HBG tho is so good it's almost disgusting
You said that critical hit doesn't change elemental damage. There is the Rathalos set which gives a bonus damage for elemental effect on critical hit. BTW I don't know how much...
The Jho HBG cluster shots are the best in the game.
I did move my Deviljho long sword up to 20% affinity with a booster. With affinity, even a little is insane. Unfortunately you give up a lot for the weapon, so I'm thinking of adding latent power with my current set that brings it to 0 affinity.
I Hope for a Event-Set from Devil-Jho like in Mh3, which looked lit AF and had crazy abilities.
People are thinking of the Deviljho from MH3U when he just showed up during one of the first high rank hunts you do and he would absolutely nuke your shit, he was almost impossible for a nooby team to take him out as they were that point in the game when he showed up, and it was absolutely terrifying for a new player xD or most players for that matter
Having a massive dinosaur looking mofo randomly showing up with the scariest music youve ever heard, thats several times larger than the small monster you were fighting, shooting dragon lasers out his face, was scary yo.
I think the delivery for Jho in the game was all wrong, i dont have the game yet, but i let myself see bits of the fight, and i find that the awful investigation beforehand, and knowing that you are going to run into him, kinda ruins the surprise, he wasnt showcased as a random encounter and nearly impossible boss fight for you to tackle later once you become a badass, kiiiiinda like how Zorah is shown to be, but ive heard Zorah is the new Lao Shan, so who cares right? XD

Love the video! What armor should i aim for since i have the devil jho GS? I used to use crit draw but with a -30% affinity i feel like i need to work on a new set. What would you suggest?
So, when you play with -affinity weapons is it generally a good idea to build such that you even that out to a flat 0%? When I have been playing (Not at end game mind you so maybe it'll feel better with the higher tier weapons) It always just feels weaker and not as good. Maybe that's just me and something I get used to but I wasn't sure so figured I'd ask.

I know im a week late but at 8:00 when you mention anything 220+ raw should be affinity augmented, is the 220 before or after bloating?
It happened to me as well in elders recess and as this was my first time fighting the deviljho i also went ahead fought it with IG and almost killed him he was limping and went to sleep when i woke him up he just ran and left the locale.
The bow guns have decent weapon damage, however it’s really crazy deviation and ammo load speeds make it terrible. The best I’ve been able to make them so far is LBG slicing ammo build and HBG bomber build ( sticky/cluster bombs )
Only your first affinity augment will give you 10%, the second or third will only give you 5%. Because of this, it is very often not worth it to use more than 1 affinity augment and instead take 1 affinity and use attack for the remaining augments if applicable.
The bowguns seem to be focusing more on an Exhaust build. I guess that fits with the Deviljho theme, but I personally don't think Exhaust is that great on the bowguns.

Love your vids. I'm also a veteran and it kills me to have to keep telling people, "they cant release content as fast as they did in the old versions. Why? Cause they built an entire fucking ecosystem lol." Its ridiculous what they did with this, every monster seems like it belongs there, with others that roam like bazel just kinda being everywhere. But they cant just throw monsters in since they literally have to fit them in place with the new ecosystem with the whole packages including turfs wars etc. Thats a lot of work for just one monster at a time so.
Jho is slightly superior in that the damage he does is slightly larger.
On the armour i wish they would have done a set skill to capture his hunger. Like the lower you're stamina drops the higher your attack gets. Could have called the skill Ravenous hunger.
Hmm... Not sure about the Gunlance being definitive for long shelling. It only has shell level 3, unless the raw is so high other GLs with shell level 4 have a negligible difference? The hazak spysa GL has pretty potent shelling power, usually dealing more damage than my pokes even with weakness exploit on.
