    • @tylercafe1260
      @tylercafe1260 6 лет назад

      Nuke2099 I think they might do story updates for the game :o still mlre mysterys to be solved. Like Xeno'Jiva how is it even possible to be created?! Can an other exist? How many can there be? How was the bioenergy stored? Has Xeno'Jiva always been in the concoon or is it recent? Was it an egg? If so wheres the mother? Are there any hunters or civilizations on the New World? Also lol " New World" when the game is trying to be the a really big international game xD

    • @seanchan7966
      @seanchan7966 6 лет назад

      Nuke2099 Well technically yeah he does kill them.He overpowers these elder dragons with all his force to prevent them from using their elemental powers to its maximum potential and with the highelderseal basically forcing them to flee.Although it gets tired real quick,it can regenerate real quick too basically taking chunks out of the elder dragon each encounter.So it kinda wins in attrition unless the elder somehow still has strength to fight without losing parts of its body.Although I can’t wait to see what happens when alatreon comes.Hoping to see a turf war between them but I doubt it,probably in special arena by itself.

    • @MK-13337
      @MK-13337 6 лет назад +17

      In your mind translate "affinity" to "crit chance" and you understand it better :)

    • @Ahlgreenz
      @Ahlgreenz 6 лет назад +3

      If you have 10% affinity, your attacks have a 10% chance of dealing more damage, 25% more damage to be exact. So if you attack a monster with a weapon that deals 100 damage on an attack, every 10 attacks (because of the 10% chance) should do 125 damage instead of the 100 damage.

    • @novian1452
      @novian1452 6 лет назад

      what if the weapon got minus affinity?

    • @MK-13337
      @MK-13337 6 лет назад +3

      Muhammad Faris Novian Then you have a %- chance to deal a "negative crit" which means the attack does 75% damage instead.
      The negative sign in front of let's say "-20% affinity" just means that you have a 20% chance to get a negative crit, not a negative probability to get a positive one :)

    • @Ahlgreenz
      @Ahlgreenz 6 лет назад

      Matti Kauppinen exactly, so if you normally would hit a monster for 100 damage, your -affinity attacks will do 75 damage instead. Hope this helps!

    Here's a small correction:
    Blue sharpness has usually given a 1.20 modifier, not a 1.25 modifier.
    Also, from 1.05 to 1.25 it wouldn't be a 20% boost exactly.
    It's from 1.05 to 1.20 which is slightly less than a 15% damage increase.

    Thanks for the video, useful info for both newcomers and veterans.
    That being said: Should i go for the Bone tree or the Ore tree? I can't decide... all the weapons look soooo different from each other. It's really hard to choose which one of them i want to grind materials for. Nothing is as motivating as working towards an end-game weapon that looks EXACTLY like the very first starter version you got for free.
    In case my tone wasn't sarcastic enough and you can't tell: Yes... i'm REALLY salty about the lack of variety in weapon designs in World. It's really really disappointing compared to previous games.

    I have a beef with elderseal. There is very little visual indication that you've successfully applied it. The auras disappear but they also disappear on their own as well. Every other status effect is very well pronounced and obvious. They really should put like.. some dragon element colored chains around the monster or something.

  • @Howema
    @Howema 6 лет назад

    from what i've seen bludgeoner is litterally the Blunt skill from Generations and balanced around g-rank content. so it's best used with green sharpness. i have a Ragefire magda floga with a few points in handicraft for blue sharpness and that puts me around 1362 attack with the large attack food buff, dropping green boosts my attack to around 1440 or more and effectively cancels out the drop in damage as your sharpness decreases but the loss of good sharpness starts to hurt at yellow or lower while it's a free damage increase at green.

    • @Howema
      @Howema 6 лет назад

      to add to this: blue sharpness does gain some additional benefit from bludgeoner but just dropping from blue to green sharpness has the effect of a cat food Attack UP (L) it goes up further at yellow but it's maybe an additional 60 raw to drop down to yellow so the sharpness modifier has a greater benefit here than to drop down further.

    Worth noting is that the dragon powerups aren't permanent even without elderseal. You can still stagger them out of it with other weapons and they will go away on their own sometimes such as after Teostra does his supernova. Elderseal just makes it guaranteed.

  • @Lumineszenz
    @Lumineszenz 6 лет назад +1

    According to the wiki the blue sharpness multiplier is 1.20 not 1.25.
    You tests show that as well. 42 is 100% damage, the hit with blue sharpness was 49 damage 42/100*120=50.4 - 42 was probably rounded up so it's a bit too much

    Hey Gaijin Hunter, you mentioned a good build might come out of the free element skill on the Zorah armor, and as it so happens, I've been using a free-element status glaive build all of high rank thus far. When paired with blast, it becomes extremely strong from my use of it. I use the Zorah torso (blast attack lv2), belt (fortify lv1), and gauntlets (free elem lv1 & Bombardier lv1), which unlocks the Zorah Mastery (Critical Status). I'm still tossing between the Zorah greaves (Bombardier lv2) or the Dodogama greaves (Blast Attack lv1) for the best damage, but either seems to work very well. When I combo that with the Awakening Charm II, I get 100% out of the hidden element, and depending on what pants I wear, high bombardier and/or blast attack. This makes the Chrome Blade II (the last glaive of the ore tree) Have insane blast build up. When you combo that with the dust effect from the blast kinsect, the amount of explosions and damage building up is quite the sight to behold, and that's without gems or any particular helmet (I'm mostly partial to the guild lobos though). Thought you might be interested after mentioning it in your video, I'm working on a video for the build right now if you want to see how it works in action, but I hope this is inspiring to try out status glaive, because I think it's better than status dual blades now (with the exception of sleep), since just a change of pants or gauntlets and a kinsect swap to match the weapon's status can make for a great status build.

  • @Pascll
    @Pascll 6 лет назад

    hey, umn, I basically found a skill that's not on any armor (correction: it's no high rank diablos armor, but who needs a a set bonus when you can just equip a gem and have the same effect, although it's probably incredibly rare. (never faught high rank diablos, as i'm still busy getting a weapon for every weapon type that I like before I fight more monsters) or decorations and can only be found on a decoration that's incredibly powerful, and has the potential to boost your damage higher than attack +7 ever could. maybe you know about it, maybe not (yeah, you definitely know about it), maybe a video about it would be cool (probably not), as it's a pretty strong skill. either way, people could read this and be like:"I wan't this".
    the skill is called "non-elemental boost". it boosts your attack by a lot if you don't have any elements (hidden elements don't count, as long as they aren't activated). the boost that it gives is higher than attack +7, and it's permanent. with switch axe, it boosts damage by a wopping 71. just imagine this with attack +7, maybe handicraft or something, maybe agitator, hunting horn melodies, eating for attack, and generally things like that, mixed in with a diablos weapon. imagine how high you could make your raw damage output.
    IMAGINE THE DAMAGE

  • @Senmetsu

    IMHO, you shouldn't be worrying about whether bone or ore tree is better...you should just be making both. The weapons you make from both trees will be useful for all kinds of monsters/situations.

    Ah, so that's what elder seal does! That's kind of cool. Almost feels like 2nd gen games where to needed dragon element to damage certain elder dragon body parts. Taking away Teostra's and Kushala Daora's weakness to poison is a weird choice, though. Kind of ruins the triangle with Chameleos...

    Thanks so much for this video! I watched many videos that claimed to be basic guides but still didn't explain a lot of simple things that I couldn't figure out. I still am not quite sure about how sharpness works... How does the color of your sharpness change? Does it lower overtime (that would make sense logically to me) and how do you increase it?

    Very useful vid, just a shame it didn't cover the different phial types that we get on weapons like the charge blade too. Just been googling around to find answers on impact phial and power element phial etc.. Will see if you've already covered it in another vid.. seems to be a lack of info on it in general at the moment.

    • @YourPalQWERTY
      @YourPalQWERTY 6 лет назад +5

      DaiReaver he’ll cover it during the switch axe and charge blade guides or you can just watch his MH3-4 guides on those weapons and it should explain it there, it’s the same way in worlds to my knowledge

      Impact phials do impact (ko) damage to the monster so it's great for smashing heads. Power phials on cb do element damage. Find your monsters weakness and you can do some crazy damage. Btw, impact hits in a straight line on SAED and power makes a v-shape around a 90-degree angle from the hit on SAED. At least it does on the rathalos cb.

    • @anubis24354
      @anubis24354 6 лет назад +1

      If you want to be able to KO a monster, go with impact type for CB. To really benefit from elemental you have to learn the monster's weak spots, and even then raw damage seems to be the way to go in mhw, so impact types are probably better overall.

      James Holcomb but wait there's power phials and power element phials whats the difference?

    • @BrotherofLink3
      @BrotherofLink3 6 лет назад

      Impact/power phials go toward impact charge attacks and power elemental phials go toward elemental charge attacks. Same attacks, depends on the weapon if it’s impact or elemental.

    Elderseal is too small of a effect to make much difference at least in multiplayer unless everyone happens to be using it. It's also not great because the effect for it can go off before you want it too and do nothing. Some of the dragons you would use Elderseal on happen to be weaker to other elements as well such as Teo (water/ice), Kirin (fire), Nergigante (thunder), Daora (thunder).

    not sure if you forgot but it looks like that Switch Axe has a 3/3 free element even when you don't have the skill. In early game I was using Basel-Armor with 2 parts of legiana (so no free element at all) with a metal SA with hidden Poison and the mobs were poisoned nearly all the time when I was in Sword Mode.
    Additionally to that I think this applies to Charge Blade too if you're in Axe Mode while having the shield charged. Not sure about that though

    • @BANDEV89
      @BANDEV89 6 лет назад

      Dekaar
      I thought about that too but sadly it's not
      Depends on the phial
      If it gives you the same phial as the hidden element then its ok you will get the hidden element
      But if you have anther kind of phial such as power u will not get the hidden element

    • @obzen0006
      @obzen0006 6 лет назад

      Not true, some switch axes just have a phial that grants them for example, poison, in sword mode, phials only affect the sword mode so if you're using the iron switch axe, it will deal poison damage in sword mode since it has a poison phial, similarly the barroth switch axe has a para phial, so it can paralyze monsters when hitting them in sword mode. This is only for a few switch axes though, since most have a power or element phial which just boost your raw or elemental damage in sword mode.

    Here's a question about the divine slasher if anyone knows:
    It has an elderseal value and a hidden dragon element. Does it still get the elderseal if you use the elementless decoration or do you have to use the free element to get it? Does that mean the the dragon element is what seals the elder dragons and is that basically the sole purpose of the Dragon Pod slinger ammo?

    i don't understand why you decided ore tree was better? Can I get some help with this? I tried calculating and this is what I got:
    Ore base: 322 blue sharpness becomes 386, green becomes 338, then back to base at yellow 322
    Bone base: 368, no blue, but green is 386
    In this case isn't it better to go for bone rather than ore? Since ore is 386>338>322
    While bone is 386>368
    considering they have no elemental damage

    Thank you very much for the VERY useful explanations. I was doing a few things wrong and I was really wondering how to get pass that annoying lightning on that fucking Kirin (even in low rank what a pain). Now I know :).
    One question when we are on the subject of weapons, though. I want to build an electric element lance and I have two choices, one with more base damage and one with more elemental damage (it's the thunder lance tree vs. the thunderspear one). Knowing that I only plan to use it against monsters weak to electricity (3 or 2 stars), which one of the two is better???
    Thanks in advance for the help.
