Yes, guitar can sound very lovely at any speed. Shredding is the ultimate in dexterity, speed, gymnastics, and I do love all sorts of shred. BUT when I want to get soulful, meaningful, emotional, Shred has no place. You need to hear blues emotion.
At least for me, it is rare to see/hear a pairing of two electric guitar players where they both serve the song and stay out of each other's way. I am not talking about one rhythm and one lead player -- there are plenty of those. But two standing shoulder to shoulder. Too often it becomes a shoot out, which is fun, but not necessarily musical. I love what these two have done under the Renegade Creation banner. So good. For anyone coming to the comments -- any other pairs to look for?
Man......I enjoy this to No End...................Thank God for FANTASTIC MUSICIANS..... Thanks Brothers...I Feel so Good cuz this tune at this moment This is the Stuff Young Bucks......study it well.....................and Deliver like these Cats in Your Day..... ALOHA
I wish I could’ve seen Robin Ford play at telecaster. I love telecasters I’ve seen him play at least five times here in Santa Cruz California at the Kuwumba and at the Rio and at one of another venue. I can’t remember right now he’s a fantastic guitar player the best.
Peter Stormare and his mom can really play that guitar. I'M KIDDING! I love these two. Seen them live many times. Even have a great story about Landau that I shan't post in public.
Miles Davis give him a job, That should tell you all you need to know about how incredible he is, most the time he plays just whats needed, but when he gets into it, he is a real legend. Imo
i remember this band doing a gig at yoshi's the same weekend i bought the disc that has this tune. pretty excited until i heard the disc. i still have it but never listen to it. This tune is one of the few i liked.
The aspect of Ford's playing that is consistent is that he chooses to do less on the guitar compared to when he was younger. In terms of chops he can run with the best and they know it ,He could do more but he decides that it has been done before.
four amazing players on one stage. It makes me kind of tired, that there´s this debate who is better? Music is a conversation, with everybody stating his/her fair share. You might to agree more with one statement but after a while you might appreciate the other statement as well - just looking at the same thing from a different angle....
Both are great guitarists, no doubt. But Robben is more innovative and complex harmonically. Different visons of the electric guitar. Landau reminds me to an extent of Adrian and has Hendrix influences in his use of the bar and overdrive. Ford is much more straight ahead and melody oriented. Different strokes. That old tele sounds great.
Michael Landau: electric guitar Robert Ford: electric guitar Jimmy Haslip: electric bass (Yellowjackets) Gary Novak: drums (Chick Corea Elektric Band) XV Festival Internacional de Jazz San Javier (San Javier, Murcia - Spain) 6-VII-2012
when "children" make rankings of the best bass players in the world, I will never understand why they never mention Jimmy Haslip at least in the top 7!!! 🤗🤗🤗😍
As great as the guitar playing is, its Ford's vocal that really blows me away. He truly seemed pretty pissed about something. it's weird because I don't usually like his vocals but this seems for real
A masterclass to all learning guitarists about less is more - Michael has never sounded more soulful in his solo- and, being Telecaster biased, I wished Robben had turned the tone down when he soloed on the neck pickup. Exquisite playing nevertheless
I enjoyed your clip. The new Track of Dr Dream " My Nights " is available . If you like to travel and dance , you will like it . ruclips.net/video/etBVi21pGW4/видео.html Thank you . Respect from Paris .
Apples and Oranges. Totally different approaches... Robben is a much more harmonically "advanced" player with a deep understanding of jazz and how to integrate it into blues and blues/rock. Landau is a wonderfully expressive player ...
That pretty much ...say's it all.......... Ford put on the worst show i've ever in ny 65 years seen.....last year at the Blue Note in Hawaii........... He was a Grumpy shithead..came out - ran thru a half dozen songs and split.....Not a word to the audience.. Ford has multiple songs that I swear are Bloomfield chords 100%... that disgusts me..... maybe Landau wrote Greedy for Ford... I've dialed into Landau during this damn virus bs..... Landau , Schofield....there Happy...who needs a grumpy fuck..
I love so many guitarists and see all their different specialities but Ford I have never been able to get. I hate his tone, bright, shrill and harsh with horrible runs that don't even sound musical or connected. Why do people like robben I can't understand it
Saw this tour a few years ago. Seen Robben many times but Mike was the star of the show. Best unknown guitarist around today.
Landau solo is simply fantastic. Strat tone to the very best. The control on the instrument is lesson on itself !!
Indeed
The guitar is the most fun toy ever for me. These cats have a bit more fun with it than I have been able to have. Wow.
MICHAEL LANDAU Album...ORGANIC INSTRUMENTALS....is definitely ONE OF THE BEST releases this decade....FANTASTIC lISTENING
Very poetic playing indeed ..
I think this is maybe the best piece of guitar paradise I ever heard..thank you so much
Lots of amazing "shredders" out there. But it's rare to find someone who can actually make you feel good by listening to them.

Robben shines, as usual, Miles Davis loved his playing, he can play in so many contexts and still retain his individuality, amazing
Two great players that complement each other w/ their similar style of play. What a treat...!
they're building and crafting it on the fly, with such tone and finesse, amazing.
2 awesome guitarist, ❤❤ 🎸 🎸 great video, thanks so very much for sharing 👍
Landau is a dream
To state the obvious:
This level can only be reached via year's of playing on a stage & not in your bedroom! Awesome!! :-)
+Harbaksh1234 Agreed. Yet unfortunately it is so hard to be playing for years on a stage and not in our bedroom...
Ha! very true.

holy shit these guys can play
And Rob's not a bad singer. He's never sounded affected, never adopted a voice that isn't his.
Wow! It's almost criminal that we don't have 3-4 hours of these two together to just plan during a trip from LA to Vegas. Heaven!!
david berry So right !! I leave tomorrow from Pays Basque to Aix en Provence, 7 hours, same notes in the head !!!
Absolutely Amazing. Watching this is a free lesson in Awesome. So Much to take away from these Great Musicians. Thank You.
Man......I enjoy this to No End...................Thank God for FANTASTIC MUSICIANS..... Thanks Brothers...I Feel so Good cuz this tune at this moment
This is the Stuff Young Bucks......study it well.....................and Deliver like these Cats in Your Day..... ALOHA
robben ford is really great guitarist
understatement of the year.
Sure is and a great rhythm guitarist and blues singer. But I think Michael Landeau is the more interesting guitarist of the two.
Isn't it weird? refreshing even. Glad someones out there doing the simple stuff tastefully. We need more of that.
Check out...Landau's solo...Organic iNSTRUMENTS..... you'll Love It......
This concert was in my city , San Javier , Murcia , Spain ..........i cant stay there :( for see the Masters
Greatness! All amazing musicians. I hope I have the opportunity to see them live.
Just plain sick!!!

Mighty fine playing
Two great guitarists playing two great guitars,Fender.
Brilliant
I love the way they are spontaneously innovating instead of playing the old cliches .
a whole lotta sub-lime in that ! Almost transcends the genre .
headphones, a bowl and a comfy chair.
u sure nothing is missing in that list? :P
+ramft89 nah, that's good enough for me. I'm easy to please. :)
+cruiser Right with you, bro.
of popcorn??
Thanks for posting that. Amazing playing two excellent guitar players. It looks like both had great time. Thanks
this is so good !
Peter Stormare and his mom can really play that guitar. I'M KIDDING! I love these two. Seen them live many times. Even have a great story about Landau that I shan't post in public.
I'd bet my ass that Jimmy Haslip is smokin' the bass line here!
Outstanding! Both guitarists!
the best of the best.
Душевноооооооооо......
Badass!!!!!!!
Two very different players (to me), but both great musicians. Fantastic. Should do an album together.
They have done 2 albums. Renegade Creation and Bullet
...su melodia..su sentimiento..
So good.
Miles Davis give him a job, That should tell you all you need to know about how incredible he is, most the time he plays just whats needed, but when he gets into it, he is a real legend. Imo
MikeyZ Synth-Eti-Cut Both played with Miles
Robben, sheesh......
Two of my idols os all time together!!! Thanks asat96!
This is frightening
i remember this band doing a gig at yoshi's the same weekend i bought the disc that has this tune. pretty excited until i heard the disc. i still have it but never listen to it. This tune is one of the few i liked.
Robben Ford is GODDD!!!
Yes, there is a reason why "the God" doesn't show up with Robben ... :-)
He sucks
This is the epitome of the separation of the Men from the Boys of guitar soloists
Oh myyyyyyyyyyy this is too much to handle hahaha
Is there a recording of this for purchase? Album or dvd/blu-ray etc? Love to get my hands on a copy if it’s out there.

TASTY
what a beauty sunburst very nice guitar the strat is the most beautiful sexy guitar on earth
anthony mallia for me it's a 335 anthony ....,but nothing sounds like a good strat !
stoofbuis yur right buddy im with u

Nobody injects deep angst into their solos like Robben. Love him, but he is always pissed off at his base. It works....
wow
Guitar faces. 😸

is that Jimmy Haslip on bass?
Hein-jan van der Veen sorry, this is what Renegade Creation is about, my bad..
My first thought as well.....yikes.
Yes it is.
Porra Pepeu Gomes no baixo cara
when "children" make rankings of the best bass players in the world, I will never understand why they never mention Jimmy Haslip at least in the top 7!!! 🤗🤗🤗😍
WHat's that pedal on landaus amp? BB preamp?
As great as the guitar playing is, its Ford's vocal that really blows me away. He truly seemed pretty pissed about something. it's weird because I don't usually like his vocals but this seems for real
Agreed. The mix is adding something to it also. Almost like it's doubled even though it isn't.
Chris Lester I was thinking the same thing. Just a lot of verb in the venue I guess.
Someone please tell me of a tone achieved better than this duo right here!!
Tone Masters for sure!!
Aliens
A masterclass to all learning guitarists about less is more - Michael has never sounded more soulful in his solo- and, being Telecaster biased, I wished Robben had turned the tone down when he soloed on the neck pickup. Exquisite playing nevertheless
What it is maybe better than a blues? Only a good blues. I'd like one good. I have received it.
Never dug these guys; too "pro" for my taste! But this one is humbling and beautiful!!!
Never understood peoples love for robben either, worst of guitar hero's I've ever heard
I much prefer michaels Cunif humbeckers on his COMAstrat.
Maybe its also thhe Suhr amp head hes not using hete.
Did Jeff B inspire Michael or other way around?
I think this is Robben's finest playing?
I enjoyed your clip.

why would u listen to ford when
u can have landau?

That's a very lame and childish thing to say. Stupid.
I love so many guitarists and see all their different specialities but Ford I have never been able to get. I hate his tone, bright, shrill and harsh with horrible runs that don't even sound musical or connected. Why do people like robben I can't understand it
Ouch!
