One of the greatest to ever do it. Like top 5 guitar players ever. Head and shoulders above many of the newer guys these days who are very derivative of Stevie.
Oh God! it is so beautiful. I notice how Robben plays still longer passages down in the lower register of his guitar, while when he then occasional goes on the higher notes he creates bends that is deeply touching. It is playing as if every concert could be the last. I hope he will be heard for many years to come
Someone once asked B.B.King why he played almost solely in the upper register. HIs answer wasn't what everybody seems think. It was simply because he didn't hear the lower frequencies as well for some reason. Nothing to do with the genre at all. Just a minor hearing problem.
I sometimes treat myself to a Robben Ford concert just to see how one should transit smoothly from chord playing to soloing and to enjoy his unreal dynamics and timing.
first of all those are p90 pickups sound entirely different from standard les pauls second of all robben ford makes most guitars he plays sound like a tele
Love the Les Paul. Really cuts through mix but also lays a nice bottom end down on stage. I recently heard his 1976 live album with Jimmy Witherspoon when Robben was 19 years old and playing a Gibson Super 400 (videos are on You Tube), He is a blues master and great teacher.
@Tom Jones cool you picked up on that. Robben often identities Bloomfield as one of his primary inspirations. These days SRV is probably quoted more. Even the absolute masters have their influences...
@@russhowison4215 Late to this party, but nonetheless.. If you're going to start pickin' influences you might as well start with one of the absolutely greatest.
With that tailpiece could that actually be a very first year 1952 Les Paul?! Sounds awesome, sure don’t see many of those and even rarer to see someone performing with one
I’ll probably get a lot of hate for this comment but his singing feels so uninspired. Like he’s just trying to get through the first 24 bars so he can start playing guitar. Robben Ford is one of my favorites, I’m just keeping it real.
Curtis McLeod - I totally see why you could think that. But I would ask you to do a bit of time listening to Robben teach guitar and then review his singing and notice the similarities. He is singing the way he is living life. A deep thinker with no misconceptions about who or what he is. You certainly don”t see him making voice instructional lessons. He sings out of necessity more than anything else...one, because his package stays within his vision and application when he sings/leads it, and two, there ain’t that much money involved in the club scene to do it any other way. A four piece travels around so much better than a larger group.
A master class in blues playing, he's one of the best of them all

Just absolutely brilliant blues playing ....Incomparable. A true master and the greatest blues/rock/jazz guitarist in history...

Fantástic. With eyes closed that Les Paul sounds almost like a tele.
I thought the same thing! Sounds so much like a tele
With closed eyes every guitar Robben Ford plays sounds like Robben Ford...
@@beneifert that's true. It doesn't matter what he was playing: His sound and style would pierce through. Even a banjo. lol
P90's big single coil!

Oh Yeah - insanely tasty guitar playing. What a blessing this man is to lovers of fine music, thank you Robben!
Yes, tasty.
What! No Telecaster?
Mr. Ford has yet to be invited to a single one of Clapton’s ‘Crossroads’ extravaganzas.
It defies logic. Maybe Robben declined. I have all the shows & would love to see him make one.
Wow ! Such fantastic, and idiosyncratic guitar-playing !
This guy can sure play the blues:):)
This video is a gem, thank you!!:-)

P90s 👍
I´m speechless
WoW, that Les Paul has a wonderful tone.
❤❤❤yes
Not even one SRV lick. Witch is a blessing this days.
Thats absolutely true. there are so many "same" guitarists nowadays.

P90s sounding righteous! Nice.
Yoho Hoho - Awesome combination of the P90s and his Dumble. Although Robben makes pretty much any guitar/amp combo sound righteous. A true master.
great chops.
He took a standard G blues and placed so many creative blues feels - a simple song, but he fashioned a real study in blues from it
While the Maestro hypnotizes you with his left hand, he picks your pocket with his right.....
schools in session,. lucky folks ta help him out!
superb

It is a reissue w/ redesigned tailpiece w/ strings wrapping over the tailpiece, not under...Correct neck pitch, too....
Robben ! 😃
what a phrasing master - Roger Federer on guitar
Cool blues!
Love p90s

Great song; one that really needs to be heard live.
Brutal

I hear a lot of Mick Taylor in there.
Great!!
The colour is a little more saturated at 720p60. 🌈

I think he sings just fine.
No one ever accused Robben of being a good singer. (He sang ok in his best (to me) song ‘Help The Poor’ from his ‘Talk to Your Daughter’ album.)
No, I don't hate you, I feel sorry for you.
