    I think what I like the most is the neat-ness of the process and the workshop setup. It's so practical. Also, the finished product has that "custom" carbon fibre look to it which I absolutely love because it adds a little imperfection to it...which I believe is necessary when doing anything custom to your vehicle. It shows it was built, not bought. Epic work. I wish I could spend time with you in the workshop to learn how to do this myself. It's a skill I'd love to have.

    Amazing work overall. But I'd change the title to "How I made my carbon fiber splitter lip" because it will get confusing with people expecting a tutorial, then seeing a fast-paced montage of a professional infusion layup into an already made mold... This is a showcase video of your skills.

    Hey AJ, just wanted to say thanks for all the great content and tips. I’m working on Making a custom kit for my 04 lambo gallardo. My knowledge is much better in 3D printing but have an endless amount of CF at my disposal. Working on merging the two skills with the help of your videos. Cheers!

    RUclips is a huge learning platform. Your channel provides interesting insights into car part creation by molding/laminating. In specific the timelapse, where we can see everything you do and get a rough understanding about the effort in time and actions are very helpful. We currently plant to start creating small molds for car parts and have several main stream suppliers available where we can get the carbon fiber cloth from, but getting complete rolls is either not possible or very expensive. So the question is where do you get your clothes from?

    I see you used multiple pieces of CF due to the shape of the lip. Are you laying the CF piece overlapping or as a butt joint? Do you have a video about joint to ends together? I already seems the the V style video. I’m more interested in joint 2 ends together like at a corner and not a flat part. Interested in how to make a front lip and or diffuser that has alot of complex shapes

    How much material(layers) would you say is enough to make a front lip/splitter rigid and not too flimsy? I notice you use 1 layer of 3k and 1 of 12k. Is that typical for parts like this that you make?

    Hey AJ, been in the composites world a while although i mostly do motorcycle parts rather than car parts myself. I noticed you applied clear coat into the mould... I assume this is 2k automotive clear coat, what are the benefits to applying to the mould then laying up over top of that? I usually clear coat the parts after infusing

    • @ivegonemad
      @ivegonemad 2 года назад

      Smoother part, stronger mold, probably used a a release agent as well

    • @cloudedcomposites8175
      @cloudedcomposites8175 2 года назад +2

      @@ivegonemad Not really any of those.
      You get a perfect finish when spraying into a mould then spraying it on afterwards. You completely remove any chance of orange peel etc.
      I can't spray clearcoat onto a finished part to save my life but i get a perfect finish if i spray it into the mould first.
      It also allows you to hide any pin hole from infusing that can be a pain to fill/finalize later with clearcoat.
      It could be clear gelcoat, or even something like Duratec Sunshield.
