AndreiTupolev Another good spot is just a little further down the line at Hest Bank at the level crossing, it's the only point on the WCML that you see the West Coast!
A Voyager in white with Avanti branding at the end there? That looks quite good actually, better than the Avanti livery on Pendolinos which is messy and not very distinctive. But still nowhere near as much of a mess as the ghastly Londonorthwestenrailway
I believe this was filmed 5 days before Northern Rail had their franchise stripped and then renationalised by the Government yesterday. It will soon be called Northern Trains when their new franchise starts on 1st March after next month.
Simon Chalker There isn’t a new franchise starting on the 1st of March, that’s just when the OLR take over from Arriva, until then it’s still privatised. No branding change will take place
AndreiTupolev They tried that initially after privatization with Northern Spirit and First North Western. It doesn’t really work since a lot of Northerns services cross the boundaries of where the franchise was divided.
Just how long does it take to repaint a train anyway? The 390s have mostly been plain white for months and it must be a bit embarrassing for Avanti to see half a 10-car formation of c;ass 22x in their colours and half still in VWC's red, cross-hatch and white!
Still seems a bit odd that Northern bought diesel units instead of bi-modes when almost all of the services they’re used on are under the wires for some portion
Bi mode wasn’t really a thing on UK railways when they ordered the 195 units, at least on regional services, so to reduce potential issues entering service they went for a full diesel
Really really god, thanks for showing us. One small question, would you ever be able to keep a small clock running on screen so we can work out gaps between trains because when a branch line joins from Barrow and then a high speed rockets down from Shap you think 'crikey'? ( But obviously it will be safe! )
Whilst Northern have failed miserably, they have been using old fashioned Paccers and other old worn out rolling stock and now the new trains are coming on stream they've lost the franchise, what nobody has realised is that part of the problem was that Railtrack which is owned by the Government played their part in Northerns downfall with their complete incompetence in completing track works on time causing chaos to the timetables but Northern copped for all the flack when some off the time it wasn't their fault. I'm not trying to excuse the failure of Northern but it wasn't all their fault.
Totally agree with your comments, and as we all know the Pacers where a short stop gap BUT 30 ODD years yet again government lack of investment in the Northern Powerhouse
Omg those point sounds
*Nice video. Thank you for Sharing. Love from Vietnam*
Wow. That Avanti 221 was really pretty!
Terrific spot for watching Pendolinos at speed (While having a cup of tea with Celia Johnson in the buffet).
Its Celia Drumond

@@agent_605 okay, fine then. I hope you're right about that.
Would seem a sensible thing to split it up into two; it's really far too big to manage effectively

See that all the Pendolino's have been stripped of their Virgin vinyls...top video

They're probably much more expensive and complex (look how long it's taking the get the bi-mode 319 conversions into service (still waiting))

h bethune I suspect the editing will not allow that to happen.
Very Nice Video

whats with the red and white tape on the platform at Carnforth?
There was some lose concrete so it was just to keep people off of it. And I honestly don't know. I'm still waiting to see more Avanti trains too.
Love the novas great trains I’m going to greenfield in the Manchester to Huddersfield line to spot em I’m quiet excited also great video keep it up
In some of the video, you don't see any wires touching the overhead power source. Where does the energy come from?
On the curved platforms towards Leeds & Barrow there is no power lines. The trains themselves are the power source. Diesel trains.
when are these old Virgin trains going to have the new name AVANTI and its colours put on them
it depends because they probably dont have time to paint them because they have to keep them in service
I saw avanti west coast 221 101 at Albrighton I got it on video it on my channel
Aren’t modern trains boring?
Give me an Intercity executive class 86 and 87 any day along with a blue one!
