      @@ORDEROFTHEKNIGHTSTEMPLAR13 Hello. thank you for the suggestions. I think if we were able to work on this full-time that would be a good idea. At the moment with work in the week, its a struggle to get a weekly video out and travel around and film places as well. Maybe one day :)

    As a huge fan of Heartbeat from Canada I wanted for many years to visit the area and finally got the chance in 2016 and 2019. It was pretty special seeing several locations in North Yorkshire where Heartbeat was filmed. It’s a charming village. Loved Whitby as well.

    • @mikeanton9125
      @mikeanton9125 2 года назад +1

      @@ORDEROFTHEKNIGHTSTEMPLAR13 Yes Heartbeat first aired about six months after it debuted in the UK. The show is being repeated in its entirety and it was one of TV Ontario’s most watched programmes. We do have more space here that’s for sure compared to you folks in the UK. If I had another country to live in I would choose England and settle in North Yorkshire though there are many beautiful areas throughout the UK.

      Visiting “Adensfield” in 2018 was also a highlight for me as a Canadian Heartbeat fan. I was surprised when I stepped into the pub and realized that they had filmed in there. I had assumed it was filmed in a studio elsewhere but there I was right on the set. I regret not stopping for a pint and really soaking it in but every time I see them come through the doorway I think I stood there!

    • @mikeanton9125
      @mikeanton9125 2 года назад +1

      @@sheilaenglish9738 I too went inside for a quick peek but didn’t stay. I believe they used the pub for filming in the first few seasons but then they built a replica set at ITV studios in Leeds and used it for the remainder of the series. I also had a photo taken of me pretending to pump gas at Scripps Garage.

      @@mikeanton9125 You visited here in the UK and found it charming for a visit, there are some pretty places, but as for living here it is a dump! The country is a joke now, strikes for everything, the nhs is about broken, a few leaves on the railtracks and trains get delayed. It is not a great place to live and Yorkshire can infact be a rough place and more deprivation up in the North of England and crime. It may have seemed lovely when you came for a holiday, but living here would peel back your rose coloured view of it and I think seeing Heartbeat, you get a picture of the UK that no longer exists.

    One of my favourite holiday destinations. An area that has it all, including unsurpassed Whitby fish and chips. The 2-6-4 locomotive, as you say, used to work on the LTSR railway between London Fenchurch Street and Southend/Shoeburyness. The line ran past the bottom of our garden and my brother and I would have seen it dozens of times. Nostalgia all round. Thankyou indeed.

    I don't recall hearing about Heartbeat, though we see many other British series here in America. I'm a fan of detective series such as DCI Banks, Inspector Morse, Prime Suspect, Vera, etc., as well as the various sequels/prequels. The Goathland town and railway station are charming. It's so wonderful to hear that the train and the line were salvaged. Our tiny local 1894 railway ticket office (abandoned in a field from 1954 until 1980) has been restored, and is now part of an outdoor museum. Serious train enthusiasts should check out the incredible California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento if they are ever in the area.

    Fantastic video. I've lived in Australia for many years now but watching 'Heartbeat' (one of my favourite programs) brings back all the memories I had growing up in Wales and England before I left in 1970. I've been back to Britain on several occasions and had planned to return in 2021 and visit Goathland, but we all know what happened at that time. I look at those scenes with some degree of loss of arguably a better time. I noticed a jar of Heinz 'Salad Cream' in the shop window which I still buy to this day. Never been converted to 'Mayo'.

      We weren’t actually the go pro makes it look faster. We live in a rural area and are well aware of speed and animals.

    Gosh, that steam engine is the same age as I am, and I really don't feel that antique.

      😂 It is doing well for its age, I am sure it also does not feel antique.

    So the whole station is identical to the hornby hogsmead range

      I guess Hornby did a good job of recreating it for the model. I just looked it up. Very clever!

    Can people pet the sheep? Or do the sheep not want to be petted?

    • @MemorySeekers
      @MemorySeekers  2 года назад +1

      They are wild and don’t want to be stroked or feed. Best to leave them be 😊

      @@MemorySeekers Then why do they hang out where people are?

    • @MemorySeekers
      @MemorySeekers  2 года назад +1

      Nice grass and flowers and things to eat that keep the areas from getting overgrown and the manure helps the ground. Something they had been doing for centuries. Saves machinery to cut it and eco friendly as well. Free food for the sheep too.

    They were real trains run by real people not like these modern trains as soon as they hit leaves or snow they, ve got no grip not a problem with the old steam trains or the diesels of the 1960s .Alan Merseyside.

    I'm staggered and near incredulous that in 2022 a steam locomotive is apparently able to legally operate in this country. I thought they'd been banished eons ago. Were it not for the pole‐axing evidence I wouldn't believe it possible. It's beyond comprehension that in modern times such an evironmentally hostile vehicle is permitted to operate in the UK. Deplorable.
    Fact is indeed stranger than fiction.

      Pleased to say there are many more preserved steam locomotives and dedicated railway lines running steam in Britain . I live near the Great Central Railway , which is among the best . Also ,there are various brand new steam locomotives at various stages of construction being built by preservation groups. The newest Being Tornado . Have a look . And long May it continue .
      You are staggered that steam can still run legally in this country , what is staggering to me is the inability of people not to put things into perspective.
