    I like the creativity of the piece and the attention to detail. Very wall worthy. This is where I minge. It is not a real representation of what you saw. A creation. That being said, I also agree that we need to break the rules. Photography is also a creative medium and needs to be recognized as one. Just like a painter or sculptor. Just declare your creation. Which you did.

    Hi Gavin a friend of mine is having real trouble with her photoshop work flow, People like to pixel peep at about 900% and could see some work she had done to correct her little brats in a family portrait. she is a bit under the weather at the moment and some photoshop tutorials might cheer her up.     Phantasmagorical, this content i.e. techniqua, is what I was looking for when you were asking for suggestions for the channel. Except I forgot to say that (sorry). I was distracted by grumpies latest video (sorry again). Great video (this one), I guess one can learn this stuff from trial and error but having a working photographers perspective working through the technique is invaluable.

    I must try that colour changing technique myself. I don’t actually have Photoshop, but have Affinity Photo. Probably have to adapt the method somewhat.

    I regularly pack a pair of very cheap, very light weight foam knee pads. They can be had for about $5 - $10 from Walmart, Home Depot, Amazon. You can even use them in a pinch to sit on.

    Lovely! I've been using a substantially more tedious way to use curves to do exactly the same thing. Never imagined I could do it by just moving one of the layers over! many thanks!!

    The initial camera you were using I noticed had a 4x4 grid on the screen, much like my Nikons. Useful for horizontals and verticals, but surely 3x3 would be better. My old Panasonic has 3x3. 🤷‍♂️

    I think Adobe or Sony or Manfrotto should offer a feature to help with old knees. I'd pay a monthly subscription for it. 🤣

    I’d recommend fjallraven g1000 pants with the knee pad insert. Then go to job site work wear or work authority and get in pant knee pads. Works amazing. Saved my knees for work and doing landscape photography

      They have one pair in “buckwheat brown” that aren’t the two tone. Haha. Still would work though helly Hansen may also have some pants that are similar. I’m not 100 percent sure on that though

    Thanks for the colour matching tips, i found those useful bud. 1 critique i would give on the final image would be that the perspective of the ice you bought into the mountain photo didn't quite sync. This could be fine tuned by doing a perspective warp/transform on the ice layer. #imNotTrollAmI?

    My biggest wish is to travel to this location, and now that I know that it's just a matter of making something fake in PS, it makes traveling so much cheaper. The hunt for (fake) Awes MKII comming soon :)

    Thanks for the photoshop help, I've been sticking to lightroom as I never can seem to get the hang of photoshop-this helps a lot. Also, It's your art, change it as you please. I would also love to see city scapes of Nova Scotia, any plans on that?

    I’ve saved this episode for future reference. It might have less disreputable applications:-). One possibility is a solution for the nightscaper’s nightmare, the “blue hour blend,” color matching the night sky illuminated by starlight with a landscape illuminated by early twilight.

    You've shown a really great (and relatively easy) way to accomplish the look you were after, and anyone competent in Photoshop knows there's multiple ways to achieve a desired result. Trolling not required. Cheers!

    I feel somewhat conflicted by this video. I follow Ansel Adams' ethos, in that I am willing to clone out a branch or something else, but adding things is something I feel very uneasy about. Your video, though, does show just how a composite image might be well executed.

    Hey Gav, about them old knees, one old dude to another, you should think about ... I know this sounds goofy... but a cheap yoga mat is amazing. Relatively light, can be rolled up, folded up, whatever you need and crappy tire has em for like $20.

    I take with me some times, one of those gardeners foam pads; good to sit on when wet ground and to kneel on when down low; when not in use, just clip it to the outside of the backpack. On your colour matching, do you select the White tip --- i got confused, i thought you said tit ;)

    I use a similar technique when I blend my big noggin onto a suitably svelte body ... the only drawback is that I can never leave the house or people will know ... 😁 Beautiful winter waterfall by the way!

    This is what I needed. Although, not really replace part of the scene. But there's more days like the first photo, and you can easily edit a photo from a bland day, to a day with great light. An upgrade is not wrong for my beliefs. I just haven't gotten to that point yet to learn how to do that.

    You can buy insulated work pants with a pocket on each leg for knee pads. Perfect for winter. You can buy non insulated ones as well with knee pads in place.

    almost there. now, put a color saturator on top of the stack and crank it up to clipping colors and you'll see the last differences (left image is greener than that on the right). tune frome there, then delete the saturator. try it. thank me later.
