The trifecta , humor, outdoor location, editing technique. I'll add I enjoy your effects in your video's, not many talk about them. Keep doing you Gavin. Much appreciated !!!
I like the creativity of the piece and the attention to detail. Very wall worthy. This is where I minge. It is not a real representation of what you saw. A creation. That being said, I also agree that we need to break the rules. Photography is also a creative medium and needs to be recognized as one. Just like a painter or sculptor. Just declare your creation. Which you did.
Lovely! I've been using a substantially more tedious way to use curves to do exactly the same thing. Never imagined I could do it by just moving one of the layers over! many thanks!!
This color--grading was interesting. I had never before seen it done this way. ❤ … I am looking forward to holding your new book in my hands. Thank you, cheers 😊
You've shown a really great (and relatively easy) way to accomplish the look you were after, and anyone competent in Photoshop knows there's multiple ways to achieve a desired result. Trolling not required. Cheers!
I regularly pack a pair of very cheap, very light weight foam knee pads. They can be had for about $5 - $10 from Walmart, Home Depot, Amazon. You can even use them in a pinch to sit on.
I read in your book's description that you added technical insights on how the photo was taken. This helped to sell me on it. Can't wait to get the book.
I’d recommend fjallraven g1000 pants with the knee pad insert. Then go to job site work wear or work authority and get in pant knee pads. Works amazing. Saved my knees for work and doing landscape photography
They have one pair in “buckwheat brown” that aren’t the two tone. Haha. Still would work though helly Hansen may also have some pants that are similar. I’m not 100 percent sure on that though
Thank you so much for the Tutorial, I didn't know about the Colour Matching Technique this way. This is exactly the type of Tutorial I love watching and I learned so much from it. Cheers! 😃🙏
Gavin , that was brilliant , Im glad to see that you paid some attention to the comments in last weeks video ,now , Im not saying that you have to do this every week , Oh no , that would make your life far to easy , but for an O.A.P. like me , it now gives me a chance to learn something new and keep the old cells ticking over , thank you , Phil
This is what I needed. Although, not really replace part of the scene. But there's more days like the first photo, and you can easily edit a photo from a bland day, to a day with great light. An upgrade is not wrong for my beliefs. I just haven't gotten to that point yet to learn how to do that.
Phantasmagorical, this content i.e. techniqua, is what I was looking for when you were asking for suggestions for the channel. Except I forgot to say that (sorry). I was distracted by grumpies latest video (sorry again). Great video (this one), I guess one can learn this stuff from trial and error but having a working photographers perspective working through the technique is invaluable.
I use a similar technique when I blend my big noggin onto a suitably svelte body ... the only drawback is that I can never leave the house or people will know ... 😁 Beautiful winter waterfall by the way!
Great video Gavin. I probably wouldn’t swap anything so different as this, but it definitely shows (or rather reminds me) what’s possible. It opens up some creative opportunities for sure. 😊 Thanks!
interesting video Gavin, just trying to get to grips with layers, so thanks for your info, It makes me shiver to watch your location, we have not had any snow in my location in England this winters, I had to travel to some higher ground so I could get snow images. cheers.
Loved the content Gavin. Please be careful when you're out on your own. I did that a couple years ago and it cost me dearly. I slipped on the ice and destroyed my knee. I have a very hard time getting out now to photograph certain places I used to be able to photograph with my bad leg.
Thanks for the colour matching tips, i found those useful bud. 1 critique i would give on the final image would be that the perspective of the ice you bought into the mountain photo didn't quite sync. This could be fine tuned by doing a perspective warp/transform on the ice layer. #imNotTrollAmI?
I must try that colour changing technique myself. I don’t actually have Photoshop, but have Affinity Photo. Probably have to adapt the method somewhat.
Hi Gavin a friend of mine is having real trouble with her photoshop work flow, People like to pixel peep at about 900% and could see some work she had done to correct her little brats in a family portrait. she is a bit under the weather at the moment and some photoshop tutorials might cheer her up. Could you maybe send her some links via Buckingham palace in the UK?
You can buy insulated work pants with a pocket on each leg for knee pads. Perfect for winter. You can buy non insulated ones as well with knee pads in place.
Great vid Gavin! I missed these from you, by the way, it's feeling like summer back here on the island mate😅 (...sorry, that was mean). And, if there's "a better way", yours is still much better than how I have been doing this color matching.
Hey Gav, about them old knees, one old dude to another, you should think about ... I know this sounds goofy... but a cheap yoga mat is amazing. Relatively light, can be rolled up, folded up, whatever you need and crappy tire has em for like $20.
I’ve saved this episode for future reference. It might have less disreputable applications:-). One possibility is a solution for the nightscaper’s nightmare, the “blue hour blend,” color matching the night sky illuminated by starlight with a landscape illuminated by early twilight.
Thanks for the photoshop help, I've been sticking to lightroom as I never can seem to get the hang of photoshop-this helps a lot. Also, It's your art, change it as you please. I would also love to see city scapes of Nova Scotia, any plans on that?
My biggest wish is to travel to this location, and now that I know that it's just a matter of making something fake in PS, it makes traveling so much cheaper. The hunt for (fake) Awes MKII comming soon :)
Book purchased 👍 I just hope that will stop you from hawking it in every video you put out.... oh wait, no I don't, I love the way you shoe horn in a quick promotion (link in the descrippy) 👍 Long may the shenanigans continue.

So generous of her to lend you that beautiful camera
I love your message to the trolls! F'n brilliant!
LOL I love how at 3:24 mark that the water and waterfall are going uphill instead of downhill 🤣
Its OK!! You got away with it.. no one noticed the water defying gravity at 3.22 🤣
The trifecta , humor, outdoor location, editing technique. I'll add I enjoy your effects in your video's, not many talk about them. Keep doing you Gavin. Much appreciated !!!
That troll voice was incredible! 😂
Although we didn't see you take an icy plunge, I definitely enjoyed your tips re: color matching. Thanks you!

Loved this! A perfect mix of humour and advanced photo editing.
Appreciate the editing tips Gavin, thanks mate 👍❄️
Excellent tutorial episode! Thank you so much for sharing this with your subscribers, really helpful!
WOW....I really needed to see that. I hate driving for hours only to come home with a so so shot.
Thanks for sharing the colour matching technique. Different challenges for us to try each week! 😊
Would love to see some of Amanda's photos from her Hasselblad. I imagine they are amazing.
Stunning shots and great tutorial.
Lovely! I've been using a substantially more tedious way to use curves to do exactly the same thing. Never imagined I could do it by just moving one of the layers over! many thanks!!
Excellent Gavin. Keep these coming.
This color--grading was interesting. I had never before seen it done this way. ❤ … I am looking forward to holding your new book in my hands. Thank you, cheers 😊
Great video Gavin! Love the icy waterfalls myself ! Learned a lot 😊

Hi Gavin I really enjoyed the editing I learned quite a lot from your learning here thank you and well done
Thanks for the tip! Your mini-tutorials are always helpful. Your photoshop for morons tutorials have been EXTREMELY helpful for me as well.
Thanks
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Great Info!
Hi Gavin, Brilliant. I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who uses this technique. Keep up the good work.
A great tutorial, with lots of sauce! Thanks Gavin!!

What a brilliant and easy composite.

Great vid, great images. Thanks for sharing some of your photoshop magic.
Wow !! What a spot man!! Old knees did well to get down in that for so long !! Great explanation on the edit too! Savage idea for the blend
Cheers mate.
Nice-great info Gavin. Thanks!!! Pay no attention to those haters-super easy to whinge while doing nothing of your own.
This is what I needed. Although, not really replace part of the scene. But there's more days like the first photo, and you can easily edit a photo from a bland day, to a day with great light. An upgrade is not wrong for my beliefs. I just haven't gotten to that point yet to learn how to do that.
Great video and great tutorial. Thank you so much.
I don't often get into the large PS manipulations but found this to be very enlightening. And entertaining delivery of course! Thanks for the video.
Great tutorial and I really like the end picture keep up the great work 😊
Beautiful frozen waterfall / creek !!
Thanks for the informative video, really helps someone like me, who's not all that great on PS, learn some new skills 😊
You got me, I thought all along that your images were more honest than this. That's too bad.
Ask me no questions...
Great Tutorial and amazing Shot :)

Cheers Gavin, found this video very helpful.
That’s a great one Gavin. I was blown away by what you did. You don’t need that Hasselblad. thanks…
Great creation! The masters have nothing on you! Excellent work because it’s your image and you should create it how you want it
Well done!
Amanda has saved the day again 👌👌👌👌👌
that was a great wee PS tip and trick
Excellent video, Gavin.
This is great. Love it, thank you.
Love the new channel
Very nice, as always!
I use a similar technique when I blend my big noggin onto a suitably svelte body ... the only drawback is that I can never leave the house or people will know ... 😁 Beautiful winter waterfall by the way!
I need to buy your new book. Should be pretty awesome.
Spell colour correctly you ain’t American
"That's not the right way to do it! Their is a much better way! You don't know what you're doing!!" 🤣 Great tutorial.
Great video Gavin. I probably wouldn’t swap anything so different as this, but it definitely shows (or rather reminds me) what’s possible. It opens up some creative opportunities for sure. 😊
Thanks!
Thanks for buying the book Barbara :)
@@fototripper wouldn’t miss it. ☺️
I hadn't seen that done, thank you!

Great tutorial Gavin,.........thank you! Who says you cheat in Photoshop, you create 😂
Loved the content Gavin. Please be careful when you're out on your own. I did that a couple years ago and it cost me dearly. I slipped on the ice and destroyed my knee. I have a very hard time getting out now to photograph certain places I used to be able to photograph with my bad leg.
Brutal!
Excellent video .Many thanks.

Heated knee pads for the ice 😂
Ruddy interesting Gavin, thanks for posting.
“Nothing tells you that you need to lose weight like the sound of cracking ice around you .” 😂
You might want to drop a line to Kensington Palace and get a By Royal Appointment badge on your channel.
Or not.
The ice is good for your old creaky knees, man up 🤣
I must try that colour changing technique myself. I don’t actually have Photoshop, but have Affinity Photo. Probably have to adapt the method somewhat.
Great video Gavin. This photoshop is beyond my brain power lol

Brilliant loved that.👊
When she said no to loaning the Hasselblad, Gavin's face looked like a smacked arse😂😂

Inspiring to say the least! Btw I like the backward flowing waterfall and from now on I will think of HP sauce when working with a source image.
Omg Gavin I just hope you weren't mixing salt water with fresh water 😂😂😂 Other than that great tutorial👍👍
I think Adobe or Sony or Manfrotto should offer a feature to help with old knees. I'd pay a monthly subscription for it. 🤣
Great video. Thank you.

Which city?
I would love to see any really but Halifax would be amazing. I plan to travel to the province for a gaze this year.
Braver man than I walking on that ice lol. 📸😎
Magnificient tutorial
nice🤗
Wow... the water was flowing backwards. Must have been really weird weather conditions.. 😉
Nice techniques.
My biggest wish is to travel to this location, and now that I know that it's just a matter of making something fake in PS, it makes traveling so much cheaper. The hunt for (fake) Awes MKII comming soon :)
