Thanks for promoting the country Gavin. The irish tourist board should get in touch about doing a series with Darren and have uncle grumpy's flute playing as the soundtrack....😂😂😂
That first shot of the castle is actually really good. It gives a real feel of the rugged country. And how the castle kinda blends in the rocks makes it even more rugged. Almost as if it grows from the cliffs.
Welcome to Norn Iron. Absolutely right on the dark hedges. Six trees have been cut down since you took those shots with the possibility of the removal of more in the near future. Haste ye back.
Great photographs, even if the birds had been photoshop'd in (this is what AI leads to, suspicion). It's sad if your Irish friend disappears permanently from this channel, Gavin. Could you maybe save a little room for him in the lower right corner in future videos?
Bosh!!! That just happened to me… as soon as I put the camera away, here comes a hawk and all the ducks went crazy!!! (I was bird watching/shooting for about 3hr and nothing)
Would have been really cool if there was a deer in the middle of that road looking at you when you snapped the photo, or a bear, or super cool if it were a 🦖!
Yes, those once-in-a-lifetime locations can be disheartening when you realize they'll be decorated by the metal sticks for years. The Parthenon was like that when we visited. I asked when the restorations would be done and they said twelve years. Love that shot of the birds in the hedges. When we visited there were so many buses of people that the road was never empty of curious romantic couples having a stroll. Great video Gavin and Amanda!
When you said scaffolding.... you wouldn't believe the frothing at the mouth vitriol that i spewed forth, I totally get it. Spent a pretty penny, got on 2 long haul flights, spent a day traveling to Tokyo, followed by half 3hrs on a train to get to Kyoto.... Kiyomizudera temple? ooooh refurb, covered in bamboo scaffolding and tarps... ¬_¬
I know the feeling. Flew all the way from the east coast of the US to Hawaii to photograph the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor..,,,yup, the whole top was covered with the white plastic and scaffolding. Sigh…….😩
You are so right about places changing. One spring, I found a spot along a river in the Georgia mountains where there was one gorgeous tree limb that extended all the way across the river. I got a great shot of it, and I returned a few months later for fall color. But the limb was gone. I found it along the river bank a short distance downstream. I was so sad.
Its a pity the farmer who owns the lane trimmed the trees quite heavily last season. We made the trip out and the tourists on top of the trimming really took away from the shot. Glad you made something of it.
Looks like you had challenging conditions on this trip, and i am not just talking about Darren, however some great images and im sure memories. Really enjoyed this series , great work from you and Darren. Hope your well all the best.
You cannae beat Ireland & Northern Ireland Pubs….. what could be better for a photography trip than stunning seascapes, landscapes with amazing pubs! My kind of trip. Shoot them while they are there… Sycamore Gap is perfect example…. Get the iconic shots in the bag. Great wee mini series… how I miss Ireland….
Thanks for sharing Ireland with us all Gavin! Have to add a few more things to my bucket list now 😎. You need to write a book on “I do have a face like a”……would sell millions 😜🤩🤩
Gavin.........the time in Ireland makes for some good content. As for the road and trees image, I can just imagine if the light was really cooperating. (and maybe some fog) I imagine with the light really low to the horizon, it is incredible on those trees. Good to see you had the opportunity and the added benefit of visiting with family.
Great video as always Mr Fototripper. Just a shame you didn’t film some kind of tripod war as you jostled for the best position on that road. A million views on this video for sure had you done that and some kind of mass brawl had broken out and a riot van had arrived to break things up 😜
Awesome. I like the story of the castle. Guy builds castle for missus, she don't fancy it and buggers off! I was there once and it was also windy as hell. Epic shot and location though. I believe, used in a jackie chan film as well! Tezmendous!
Gorgeous shots as ever Gavin. I was up the Dark Hedges today and yeah they have now cut down the trees you mentioned in the video…I’ll not bore you by sending the photo lol. As someone else has mentioned, great to see you in our wee country 😁😁
Beautiful and entertaining video as always. You got away with two really lovely images. May I ask when you took this trip to Ireland. Thank you, cheers …
Brilliant finish to what I hope was a great trip for you guys ! fairplay to Darrel darn Danny ah yea know your man in the red jacket with the funny voice 😁 Back to hard castle towers with yea all !!
I think youtube are playing games Gavin, just noticed video but no notification to say you've put one up . And yes your bell is tickled. Great video anyway , I bet your be sad to leave Ireland but glad to be back to familiar surroundings .
I visited Dunluce a few years back, and it was hurricane force winds when I was there as well. No tripod. The foot bridge was questionable. Fantastic location though
If you're craving a bit more company, you could always come to the States and go try and shoot Mesa Arch on just about any morning. 😉 Hey I'd go there too if I was there.
Last time I was up there a family of Asians were cutting their names into one of the trees... I gave them a lesson in norn iron swearing.! Really should have gone to the causeway though, makes the hedges look like a sideshow! Funny as fk as usual chum, loved that you came here 👍🙏😁
I was in that area in 2018. Never could figure out where the trail was to get to that overlook for the castle... And boy I got intimate with photoshop to get my Dark Hedges shot... Would go back in a heart beat! And yes, the Guinness is far better in Ireland.
True that... about nothing stays the same forever. Especially when some half-headed spunkflute cuts down a certain sycamore tree by Hadrians Wall for no reason whatsoever
A beautiful place and on my Bucket list. (My ever..growing..bucket list!) By the way, if you've got a colossal girth then heaven knows what mine is! 🤣🤣
Bloody hell my friend lives in Maghera, 30 miles from there! I really need to get over for a photography trip to Ireland. I spend so much time traveling to Scotland (my wife is from Glasgow) that I never get to Ireland!! Beautiful shot of the castle also!!
Guinness & Desert o'clock !!! You ate all 3!!! Daaaaahm! Ok ... always a hoot to watch your vids. So, for this shoot, what date(s) where you here for the castle and Dark Hedges?? A sweet looking redheaded lady from Ireland I meet in Banff, CAN told me a good time to visit Ireland would be April or later, like October as the summer months are medge months. What ye say, eh?
OMG! Those desserts! Oh & great shots too BTW. However, as my cholesterol test was too high & l am trying to stick to boring low fat meals, l am quite jealous of all the people eating that sort of stuff. Gavin, have you had a cholesterol test lately????
Cliche or not still very nice and yes you never know when it could disappear. Many iconic places are gone because rock arches can collapse, vandals will cut down trees, storms and fires destroy them too. In the states many of the national parks now have a reservation system to enter with time slots that must be followed or you don’t get in. Any number of reasons can make that iconic cliche image unattainable for the future
I was there in 2019 and had the whole place to myself. No other photographers. Even though I was lucky, I'm embarrassed to say that I took my shot from the wrong end of the road 😖 It's still a good shot but lacks some depth. When I found out, I was already to far away to go back.
You literally drove right past my B&B going to the harbour in Portrush, if you had replied to my messages you could have stayed with me, but you did not
Rather than cut down the ancient trees why can't they just use supports like they do on the Major Oak in Nottingham. I was at Wyming Brook in the Peak District recently and it's all been felled now. So many old trees etc just felled and I've no idea why. They didn't look a risk. They have been like that for years. What was once like a mini jungle is now an open plain with a water fall. Trees have been around long before us. Just leave em to do what trees do. I mean sure if it gunna wreck your house while your in it fine but out in the middle of nowhere, just leave em.
After spending some thousands of euros in photography equipment I can say if this is a just a hobbie for you, be careful, the GAS (Gear adquisition sindrome) is very dangerous, at the end you find yourself with a lot of expensive equipment mostly out of date just because the brands are continuously bringing out new cameras and equipment, specially if you use CANON equipment like me, better and better but also more and more expensive each time. The people in this videos always carry the best of the best in gear, the brands pay or promote them to sell us the new equipment and keeping us spending money. If you are a wealthy person, come on with the best gear, but if you are average, like me, be careful in buying gear that probably is too much expensive for what you´ll get using it. It´s a hard lesson I´ve learned. I know this brik isn´t in line with this video theme but I´d like to post it to prevent people from spending too much money in photography gear: It´s so hard to spend a lot of money in gear just to get 20 likes in FB to your photos.
Well said! Literally story of my life...battling myself to buy gear I don't afford while not making a living from photography and even without a following on insta...

I expected that the hand would have been left in the picture😂
Lovely shot of you’s two amongst the trees.
Your blocked wind images you took just cracked me up, you got your body in every one! Ireland has potential!
Awesome episode, bravo guys 👏👏👏
Great photographs, even if the birds had been photoshop'd in (this is what AI leads to, suspicion).
It's sad if your Irish friend disappears permanently from this channel, Gavin. Could you maybe save a little room for him in the lower right corner in future videos?
I once travelled to NYC from England and the Ghostbusters fire house was covered in metal sticks :(
We don't mind you coming over here to take a few snaps but please leave our Guinness alone! Slainte...
Drove up the Antrim coast with Mum when she was alive. Absolutely beautiful. Port Rush Guinness for the Win!
Bosh!!!
That just happened to me… as soon as I put the camera away, here comes a hawk and all the ducks went crazy!!! (I was bird watching/shooting for about 3hr and nothing)
Awesome video! I've nothing against getting the honeypot shots. None of them before me were mine, I say, and none will look exactly like mine.
Awesome shots! I’ve never seen trees like this before. They look so mystical, like they’re from a fairy tale storybook.
You would charge her mom, LOL. Thanks for another great video. Love the shots!!!
Would have been really cool if there was a deer in the middle of that road looking at you when you snapped the photo, or a bear, or super cool if it were a 🦖!

I know its Ireland, but where were the cars coming down that lane? Lovely photos as always. Hope you've enjoyed your time in Ireland.
they started at 8am
Looking forward to the video with the policeman minus trousers! You know what I mean!!
hahahaah
Man that dronage was mint :-) what a great trip! Until next time G 🎉🎉
Yes, 1982... tower bridge, London... covered in scaffolding.
Another film filled with good humor and knowledge. Greetings from Austria ! 👍🌳🌳🌳🌳🎥
The Parthenon, Athens, Greece.
Scafolded the scaffolding....
I am so glad you got there, we were there in August / September... was lovely...
Cutting the trees down.. goes with everything else happening these days. Nice shots Gav.
Magnifiqua, Tresmendous, Juicy.
Its a pity the farmer who owns the lane trimmed the trees quite heavily last season. We made the trip out and the tourists on top of the trimming really took away from the shot. Glad you made something of it.
What a beautiful place. Well done Gavin.
Beautiful scenery! Great shots 👏

Ireland looks amazing, I really need to get there someday soon. Great shots as always my friend. 📸😎
LOVED this. You and Darren are a great duo. Fabulous images, as always, and thoroughly impressed with the kickback of that 30fps!
Lovely shot and I thought it rather ironic that with those silvery trunks 5 Magpies were centered in it.
Great video as always Mr Fototripper. Just a shame you didn’t film some kind of tripod war as you jostled for the best position on that road. A million views on this video for sure had you done that and some kind of mass brawl had broken out and a riot van had arrived to break things up 😜
I can see it has changed at the Dark Hedges ; trees have taken a battering since i was there last 9 years ago.
Awesome. I like the story of the castle. Guy builds castle for missus, she don't fancy it and buggers off! I was there once and it was also windy as hell. Epic shot and location though. I believe, used in a jackie chan film as well! Tezmendous!
I’ve enjoyed these episodes in Ireland, top quality photography and humour. More more more!
Gorgeous shots as ever Gavin. I was up the Dark Hedges today and yeah they have now cut down the trees you mentioned in the video…I’ll not bore you by sending the photo lol.
As someone else has mentioned, great to see you in our wee country 😁😁
I'd actually be really curious to see what it's like now.
cliche or not the trees pic was effin amazing.
Great series!
Yup. When I went to Ho Chi Minh City, the Notre Dame Cathedral there was completely covered in Scaffolding. OOps./
Your Castle is just… Majestical 🤴🏼
ok, ok, ok...... you have a new subscriber. Epic content. Thank you.
Small world.
Smashing job buddy! Sad to hear about the trees:(
Beautiful and entertaining video as always. You got away with two really lovely images. May I ask when you took this trip to Ireland. Thank you, cheers …

Yes, this does not surprise me. It's a sinister pattern that does not bode well.
that was just a Hardcastle to photograph 😅😅😅
I visited Dunluce a few years back, and it was hurricane force winds when I was there as well. No tripod. The foot bridge was questionable. Fantastic location though
I think you should have a tv show. Love your channel
The last time I was there cars were driving up and down that road.
If you're craving a bit more company, you could always come to the States and go try and shoot Mesa Arch on just about any morning. 😉 Hey I'd go there too if I was there.
You call that wind? 😆😆😆
Last time I was up there a family of Asians were cutting their names into one of the trees... I gave them a lesson in norn iron swearing.!
Really should have gone to the causeway though, makes the hedges look like a sideshow!
Funny as fk as usual chum, loved that you came here 👍🙏😁
i really should have gone to the causeway but those afternoon crowds...
Awesome vid👍👍
I was in that area in 2018. Never could figure out where the trail was to get to that overlook for the castle... And boy I got intimate with photoshop to get my Dark Hedges shot... Would go back in a heart beat! And yes, the Guinness is far better in Ireland.

1.41 .....great start ,even in my hands it's wobbling .....oooo er 😂😂
More Amanda!
A beautiful place and on my Bucket list. (My ever..growing..bucket list!) By the way, if you've got a colossal girth then heaven knows what mine is! 🤣🤣
And then an emergency vehicle comes along after everyone has finished setting up their tripods in the middle of the road

It's a treasure trove!
Stop talking about yourself as Girth. You’re a handsome man and Amanda is so lucky to have you.
FFS! Don't encourage him....

Time for a Luminar sky swap? 🤣🤣
Colossal girth 👀😂
My wife and I have been curious as to what has happened to Stall the Hardcastle channel? Have you decided to discontinue restoration on your church?
Work is stalled due to financial embarrassment
Its all David Hockney's fault! Strangely I met him once in Scotland (Loch Torridon on the way up Ben Eigg) nice chap and quite friendly…...
