I am new to doing face painting for events and I have my first birthday party coming up and was nervous about how Im going to set it up and handle all the children for the event, so this was very helpful thank you for sharing!!! you are super talented!!
for the water dispenser you use, if you look up like nail polish pup dispenser or something of that sort on amazon or visit a sallys beauty supply they have these, used regularly by nail techs! Thank you for showing us your kit! this helps me a lot for trying to figure out how to start up my business.
I'm a sucker for beautifully-organized cases of paint... thank you for the clear video! As a beginner, I don't think it's feasible for me to start off with that many cakes of paint, but this is certainly aspirational! Do you have a beginners kit video?
The sticker idea is brilliant. I just got started by doing a favor for a friend at an event and it went well. Now I'm getting ready for another event and want to promote myself. Business cards are expensive and get lost. The sticker is great.
A second thank you for sharing your set-up as a UK face painter!! Very much appreciated from someone relatively new to this who wants useful stockist info for kit improvements (Facedeface), that we can actually buy here! Can't wait to see what you upload next. Thanks :)
I see that you don't keep snaz paint in your kit, but you do a lot of snaz videos. I prefer using Mehron, tag and DFX but I do have some snazaroo because it's easy to get ahold of.
Elsa Rhae I've only been using Snazaroo for a couple of months but I will probably switch up some of the Grimas colours like the red and yellow for Snaz when I run out of the other paint. I love Mehron and DFX but have never tried tag, how do you like it?
It's great to see someone so talented in their artistic work and also very professional and organised. Thanks for sharing what you have developed through years of hard work.
They sell those pumps at the Dollar Stores here in the US, like Dollar Tree in the fingernail polish removal section. They use it for remover but I think it could be used for water!! Now I will get one!! Thanks for the info!
What do you put the advertising stickers on after you peel off the back? Do you hand it to the kid and they do with it whatever they want, glue and all?
Is there a video on how to transfer paint from one brand of pot to the paradise pots? Can you describe your sponge usage routine? (rotation and rinsing). At what point do you move to a new sponge? Do you use just one sponge per color on all kids at the same event, never having to rinse one out until done with the event? I heard someone say they use one sponge per color per kid for sanitary purposes but that would mean hundreds of sponges at a large event, so I don't see how.
Thank you so much for sharing you're set up so well :)) and finally a video for face painters in the UK (i'm in France but i'm english!) I'm a freelance artist/graphic designer but I absolutely love face painting too :D I'm subscribing to your channel and i'm looking forward to your next videos :)
Thank you for this, I'm absolutely in awe of that Mehron case lol - didn't know anything like that existed. Definitely investing, so thank you. Love your videos, also. Keep them coming :)
Hi Ashley. I just want to say I really like your videos. I have learned so much from you, and got a lot of ideas too. Sincerely, April Damski from NJ (USA)
Ashlea Henson I noticed that you have a list of things like tiger, batman etc but no pics, is that the best way to give ideas of what you do, I'm worried if I don't do the paint same as the picture I have they might complain and everyone is slightly different each time? In love your demonstrations, you are brill!!!!!
The MAK Channel You need to make sure you are removing it with soap and water, not wipes. Certain colours like green will stain regardless of what brand you use if you remove it the wrong way. I've tried every colour of Snazaroo and not had any staining so far when I take it off in the shower, same with the other brands. ☺
@@lseh bodyshop camomile cleanser is amazing for removing tougher pigments. It got a pumpkin off my daughter with no residual staining (I use Snazaroo) x
Fantastic video - tks for posting! I'm new to face painting and have been curious about pro set-ups and contents. This will help ease my efforts for sure : )
Hi Ashlea Henson. I like a lot your sign where you announce your free face paint. Can you tell me about the policy that you have at the right side of the bottom of sing. Thank you so much!
Great Video :) I think you might be able to replace your dish bottle with one designed for nail varnish remover/sanitiser or lotions and toners - from beauty wholesalers. They look very similar, i just don't know if when you press to dispense, it might shoot the contents skywards :)
The one I use is designed for nail varnish remover, we got them from Capitol Hair & Beauty but they have discontinued that style. I'll see what others I can find xx
Hola Ashlea! Would you please list the name and number of the brushes you list on the video. I'm foreign and can't understand the brands! You rock, you are my idol my inspiration. :) Gracias
Wait! I found it! I followed others advice below on nail varnish remover dispensers. Just bought one on amazon www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00J9AR8VQ/ref=gno_cart_title_0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A65342XTHUNWM
Am definately going to do the stickers for tge kids wjem am done painting. I was thinking giving to the parent to place in the party bags but am guessing his better or.ill have to try both
The links to the brushes take you to a page that says product not found. I did I search for the name but there's different coloured brushes & I want to make sure I get the ones you recommend. Can you send me some new links please?xx
hello, i'm french and i'm really fan of your work! please can you tell me where have you bought the bottle who mahe water mist for your sponges...? thank you
Could this set up be used for body painting? I want to body parint, but I don't know the essentials to buy? Could you offer me any suggestions? Btw, very great video!
If I may, I'd like to ask unrelated questions and I don't know where else to ask them except on a video that seems to be targeted toward relatively new beginners. I'm a male newbie, wondering whether I should pursue face painting. My only concern has to do with people's reactions to a man doing it, especially the kids when they see a man sitting/standing there, waiting to paint people at the beginning of an event. I read an article that only about 1 out of 20 attendees at the FABA Intl convention are men. I assume that an even smaller proportion are actually doing it in the real world. As for yourself, when you arrive at an event like a birthday party and set up, and you're sitting or standing there waiting for your first kid arrivals to want their face painted, do they just automatically figure out what you're doing and eagerly get in line? Does the hostess (mom of the birthday kid) have to point you out to them and be your cheerleader, like "Hey kids, if you want your faces painted, go get in line over there and she'll paint your face?" Or do you have to be outgoing in the beginning before a line starts, encouraging them to come over and do it? Do you just remain quiet and smile, figuring "hey, I'm on the clock getting paid by the hour, so if they don't want to do this, it's fine with me. The person who booked me is the one wasting their money?" And most importantly, would everything I just asked be different when comparing a woman to a man, even an older, gray-headed, semi-retired complete stranger? (maybe the grandfatherly type). There are some people who believe men shouldn't be touching children for any reason, especially kids they don't know, and vice versa. Have you worked with and observed men, especially if they're working alone and not part of a man/woman team, to see if there's a difference in how men are treated? If so, do they ever paint sitting down, or only standing up? Do you think that a man who starts his own face painting business with business cards and a website is going to miss out on business as soon as parents see that he's not a cute bubbly college girl? Is my main hope to get contracted going to be via other artists and companies who somehow found out about me and will invite me to join them at huge events when they can't handle it all? Do you have time to answer all these questions? haha. I will delete all this once you've had a chance to respond since it has nothing to do with the video. I see very few business and career related advisory videos for face painting. They seem to be all about supplies, designs, and techniques. But people have to decide if they're even going to be able to do this and enjoy it before investing so much time and money. Hope you understand. Thanks, and thanks for the videos. :)
joe doe Hi Joe. It's very difficult for me to answer as I've only really seen it from my side, however I will say that a large majority of the best face painters in the world (in my opinion) are male. I would suggest reaching out to them, they all have Facebook pages and are active in the community. There's Nick Wolfe, Ronnie Mena, Matteo Arfanotti, Dutch Bihary, Wiser Oner and so many more. When I set up at an event I sit back and wait for the customers to come to me. As long as you have a large, clear display they will work out what you are doing. Personally I always think standing looks more professional but it doesn't really make too much difference, and I don't know if it would be particularly better for a man to stand or sit. Sorry I've not been much help, it's a tricky subject that I don't really know much about.

Ashlea, u can find similar water dispenser at a nail supply store. They sell similar dispenser for acrylic liquid for fake nails.
thank you

Ashlea Henson: Hi how did you find the quality of superstar pace paint if you could compare the quality with diamond fx and paradise.
love the video, are you uploading a video on your display board? x
What do you put the advertising stickers on after you peel off the back? Do you hand it to the kid and they do with it whatever they want, glue and all?
Just paint your brush handle with nail polish!!! And keep your favorite brush!!!!
Thank you Ashlea, so organized and neat!
I love your videos!!..... Could you please tell me what brand of paint do you use??.... the rounded ones are mehron also??

question: approximately how much did you spend for the paints?
