I’m just stoked for when the speedrun gets into the mid 1000s. That’s when the games are the most entertaining imo. Above that and I can’t appreciate what I’m seeing cause its too advances. Below that the competition is too weak to be entertaining. But from 1200-1700 is when speedruns are pure gold

What the 800 rated opponent is actually thinking: if I triple my pawns on the b file and put my rooks on a8 and c8 I will create a phallic symbol to intimidate my opponent.
As a 700 elo player, I can confirm. My repertoire for white is completely based around the dick&ball opening.

Even today, after like 3-4 times rewatching this, I’m still confused how Hikaru makes bullet look so easy. He seems not to think at all, but actually he calculates more moves in few seconds than we do in weeks

Obviously because of the skill gap but hikaru is so good it's not really fair for him to vs anyone bedsides other super GMs and there's not many.. also I think a 800 wouldn't care to lose 8 rating to play hikaru.

I'm losing the blitz games because of timings but winning the rapid ones. I want hikaru's speed.
Speed comes from habit and ability. He doesn’t have to calculate positions the way we do. He instantly sees ten+ moves ahead in the exact same way we might see the best move in a two or three move sequence. He’s played more games than hours we’ve been alive.

as a 900 rated player it was actually very enlightening watching hikaru vaguely talk about his gameplan and still obliterate his first opponent while i managed to understand everything, everything was so purposeful

Its a learning experience though and even if its not, its bullet in which you only lost 30secs-2 minutes max. I've seen other games with smurfs with longer playtimes.
