Hello friend, I have a Chevrolet celebrity just like yours with the same engine and I have a question about which spark plugs to use because some say that it has a long thread but in the manual it indicates that it has the AC R42 CTS that have a shorter thread, which one do you use? ?
nice I have the same engine original and about to rebuild. Did u delete the EGR and what did you do about th Air Diverter valve that used to be connected to the old intake . Id love to know what all you did during your restore/rebuild
@@AutotuningChannel thanks id much appreciate that. This give me hope on keeping my 2.8 instead of swapping . I was wondering should I rebuild but there were a few little parts I couldn’t find expect at salvage .
My daughter and I are trying to run our belt the same as yours . No air pump just a pulley and no ac.... our problem is when we put on the belt it hits going over the water pump. How did you stop this from happening or maybe I have something going on I don't see.
Thanks for responding. We have tried three different belts for this engine. This is the belt for no ac but with the air pump. The one for it without ac and pump is to short but even that belt was riding on the water pump. It's almost like the power steering pump is to low. I tried loosening the PSP hoping It had play and could be moved up but no.
@@thomaswarren8027 So, you can do as I: I bougth A/C Delete Pulley by Dorman, bought Air Pump Pulley delete and bought belt 6PK2360. So, now I have no problems with my belt.
Ya I was looking at the ac delete pulley. I was trying to avoid using it just dont like the look of it. Really appreciate the help. Since it's this much a pita and The ac works on the car I think I will leave it(really dont like the ac clutter) and find the same size belt that was on it.. wish I knew why the belt is hitting itself. Drives me nuts.
hi, those lights wery bad, I install original yet. Nothing better than original! I install cold air intake, because I have no air intake system in my car at all.
nothing complicated, simple design, reliable. But not economical these days. 9-12, sometimes 15liters, in manual transmission. POV- ruclips.net/video/thW42Uhw6js/видео.html
In one of your other comments you posted a link to the parts that were used in this engine. It looks like you have a Comp Cams 260H camshaft. Was it already in the engine at the time of this video? I'm impressed how smooth it idles. Does it stay that smooth after it warms up and the idle has slowed down to 900rpm or less? I might be rebuilding the same 2.8L in a Fiero and have thought about putting a different cam in it, but I don't want it to have a lopey idle. I have to take California emissions tests and if they can tell the car is modified they might fail it. If the 260H idles this well then it's encouraging. Thanks for posting this.
Wow very impressive! Love that you kept the 2.8!
I'm too ;)
I love the sound of it! It reminds me of my old 1986 Pontiac Grand Am, obviously without all the upgrades. ;)

Hi, I bought spark plugs from MSD, you can look at the engine at summitracing - this is the best option of all the spark plugs I've tried
@@AutotuningChannel So if they have a short thread, right, can you give me the exact model of the MSD spark plug?
Hey do you still have the heater valve plugged in to receive heat? If so how did you wire them up?

I know it’s been 5 years since this video was uploaded but do you have a list of performance parts that were put on this car
👋 Hi, yes I have. I’ll give you part list tomorrow. Car 🚗 with this performance parts 👉ruclips.net/video/thW42Uhw6js/видео.html
I have a 1983 s10 with this 2.8L no balance shaft and it's cammed. Idles at 500 or lower . Shakes like a beast but runs very mint
Was it swapped from AT to manual transmission?
those v6's are good motors. mine has over 200k
James Laiola , mine is too over 200, but I make full rebuild of v6 ...
Yo boy, years after, could you tell me extactly what intake kit you put on ? Also what camshaft if you changed it. Thx c:
original collector, for spare parts information in this video - ruclips.net/video/QlzPKB-oY5c/видео.html
Does your car smoke in the exhaust? What is that smoke coming out of the pipes?
About Exhaust - ruclips.net/video/gT1CjXnHRjE/видео.html
How many miles engine has? Are these prone to smoke? I want to buy one 1989 2.8 v6 with 96000 miles and does the same in exhaust pipes.
@@ilimikadventures5258 about 112000, but I make full rebuilt of this engine. All new inside with camshaft kit from compcams.
by any chance do you have a video on your complete rebuild?
do you mean a complete rebuid of car?
What air intake did you put on?
Intake I install from ebay. Universal piping kit.
i want to bypass the ac too. could you tell me what belt you used?
James Laiola , you want A/C delete?

hey what are those lights that are on? and did adding the cold air intake makr the car more responsive or did you do it for the sound it makes?

Autotuning oh okay thank you for the response i apreciate it
Had a 2.8 under the hood of a 88 Corsica and a 3.1 multi port in my 88 Grand Prix. The 2.8 pulled harder..
2.8 little another ignition have. I install more aggressive camshaft h.264
thank you so much. does the chek engine light stay off after the air pump is off?
No, I have no check engine light on...
Do you have a list of all the parts for the rebuild ? Cost? And HP ratings ? I have 2.8l and like to get more out of it
Master Cole X2 , you can watch all list of parts, which I install on my V6 here- www.drive2.ru/l/458238789257586255/

Nice little classic. Love to get a hold of a manual. Though I'd be torn over twin turbo the 2.8 or swapping for a v8.
Now 2.8 in manual transmission, I think about turbo. But v8 is optimal, budget is not good, I am interested in LS series...
Hi there were did u get the air intake ? I would like to upgrade mine on the 88 trans am
Hi, I bought in ebay.
The 2.8 was a very reliable engine for me as well as the 305 v8.

Hi. Yes, it's 260h camshaft on video work. Idle has slowed down to 950rpm, but can work in 750-850rpm too.
Awesome, thanks for the info. It sounds like it runs perfect, you did a great job on the rebuild.
Where did you get that intake from?
Ebay
What’s it called on eBay I’ve been searching for one that fits the v6’s for the longest and I still can’t find it on eBay ?
Try to find,- firebird 82-92 air intake. Or,- 82-92 firebird cold air intake system.
Dam good cars and motors

Damn it runs smooth, mine at idle just shakes and runs rough I hate it
Lower than 900rpm?
Autotuning it mainly idles at 1,000-900 and that’s when it’s rough only until like 2,000 is it smooth
Tyler Martin you need to throttle customizing. Position of sensors not right on yours engine.
yes absolutly.
I install Contitech 6PK2077 belt. Without air pump and without A/C
I have the same one
Have you a photo of your's?
Autotuning yes, it needs work tho, but I drive it everyday, it's not nearly as nice as yours yet
