Beautiful! The yellow crystal cluster is wulfenite - a lead mineral :D
I just watched the Cerro Gordo go down to 900' video and he got a Million Viewer RUclips award and left it down there...for next generation to find! He's a cool guy, and like Dan, just genuinely excited to be underground!
That's the ghosttownliving guy right?
@@100GTAGUY no this is Patrick
@@100GTAGUY If its Brent, then yes. It was Ghost town Living episode from last year at Cerro Gordo Union Mine... sorry if I was confusing. ruclips.net/video/JJSTBl8fFwA/видео.html
That was fun!
the crystal formation you found looks like Wulfenite (lead molybdate). Nice find!!!
I agree with your suggestion, wulfenit for sure,I believe also it is associated with lead
Same thought here.
I thought this exactly, crystal structure and all. Can’t wait to see if they find more of that
Back in the old old days placer miners were having a problem with a white metal clogging up their sluices. They threw it away because they were "gold miners by god"!
Someone had the idea to take some of this stuff and have it asseyed, he found out it was platinum that they were throwing away. You can still find it in their old tailings and I've found some in my sluice in southern Oregon, but not like it was in California.
In Nevada it was blue...and loaded in silver.
Dan & Brent make a great combo
Brent is a literal cave goblin and Dan I would describe as somewhat of a rock/shiny object type gnome so there’s natural symbiosis
Jason rounds out the trio. The three musketeers 😅
Sparks fly
YEP...THEY CERTAINLY DO💯💥💯
Literally. What a beautiful mentorship.
Evan is right. That looks dangerous. That whole mountain looks to be made of float. It no wonder that it collapsed. BTW, Evan is comin along quite well. Smart and a hard worker, that's a kid to be proud of.
This creator collab is excellent. Been some of the best content online!! 😉
This is what we want in a creator collab!
I would love to see Jason's crusher and shaker table do their magic on those tailings!
awesome idea!!
He was just advertising his mobile crusher/shaker combo for truck beds, bet it'd be a great place to to a demonstration.
Love these colaborations between you guys. I bet Jeff Williams wants to take a peek also. Would be fun Jason processing all those minedumps one day.
Glad you got to spend time with Brent in Cerritos Gordo! We used to hike up to the ghost town well before he bought it; spectacular place
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: So much fun...makes me feel energized!
Your kid is going to treasure these times and memories when he's older.
may as well make the most of it Dan isn't exactly the picture of health with all his heart woes
Wow, DebbieDowner much? Hes doing awesome. He had a bad valve, but its been replaced and theres no reason he cant live a very long and happy life....a few restrictions maybe, but as we age, we all get those.
Cheers to Dan and Dayna's Golden Years !!!!
@@RICDirector I don't know what you're on about, I'm not saying Dan is gonna die I'm saying when his kid gets older these are the adventures he will remember fondly on, like I do with my still living dad. FFS
@@wazaagbreak-head6039 What are you talking about, his son is a teenager and when he grows up to be 40 like me he will remember these days very fondly like most of us with good dads do.
Hey Digger Dan!, You have always been a great teacher in all aspects of your knowledge! God Bless you for that! So very happy you are doing so well, and doin what ya Love ❤! I'm always watching, but would enjoy it at least once again! ❤ it all man! GBU.,SM.,NZ., ✌❤😁👍🙏🤗
Hello Dan and RUclips fans. I’m an expat living in Colombia. Your videos and all the excellent themes you choose are a ‘Godsend’
From here in the Colombia’s tropical rainforests!
I started watching Jason's video, but I had to "NOPE!" right the hell out of there. My claustrophobia went into overdrive.
Pickerton Dan at it again! He's like a gold magnet
another great video Dan, thank you! always fun watching you do the Dan Hurd THING! XD
I enjoy these "Trinity" mining videos with the two or three miners I watch the most on RUclips.
I love seeing the both of you together, well done and thanks
Id imagine a lot of ore got through processing into the tailings. Itd be sick to just mine them all these years later.
There were some Chinese Miners up here in the Cariboo (around Quesnel/Barkerville) who would pan out the tailings of the other types of mining and they made a fair bit off of them.
Good morning Dan, Thanks for the adventure!!!!!
So happy for you!!! Getting to 1M subs!! I enjoy your channel, and your excited attitude!!! Love it Dan!!!
Love ya videos mate but seeing Brent hanging out between the bucket and machine gives me chills every time I see people do it with out the safety latch on the right side cylinder engaged
Super informative and knowledgeable as usual, really enjoyed it! Thanks mate 👍
That's how to get it done fam. What a blast coming by. Keep on having fun getting that au and living the dream. Gold Squad Out!!!
And here is Dan: Always on the lookout Gold.. but you always have that lucky hand.
Always a pleasure watching your videos. Regards South Africa 🇿🇦.
I have been waiting for soo long for this colab!!!! 🎉🎉
I love how you say that you hope to EARN my subscription. Well, you have. Wish more channels had that mindset. You do great work Dan.
That's how he got me, too, hasnt let me down yet!
Love your Videos! So much fun to watch! Makes me want to try my hand at some sort of prospecting... looks like so much fun! Thank you.
The orange stuff at 23:00 or so could be wulfenite - typical platy habit. It's a lead molybdate, so quite heavy. The white line in the pan could be cerussite (lead carbonate) or anglesite (lead sulfate) - both are gonna be heavy.
Lol great video, love the copper sulfides and oxides you found. The previous Cerro Gordo video was excellent at all the machinery still in use and the ones that have multiple uses like the elevator. Ingenious!
Great show Dan.
thank you great to view those special color stones..
My great grandfather’s uncle was Captain John Sutter who was the founder of Sutter’s mine. You know the one that kinda kicked off the whole gold rush thing. Just wish he would have been able to keep his mine in the family 😂😂😂
23:12 that looks like wulfenite crystals Dan congrats on the gold looking forward to the assay thanks for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼
Seconded
Agreed
Just seeing the different types of rocks in that area is amazing i always wanted to go to Greenland and pick up meteors on the ice sheet glaciers etc
Amazing mine!
well that was fun thank you for sharing the adventure and information
Wow! You go on some amazing adventures and your friends are really cool too! From Jan in England 💕
The orange crystal is super cool!
Hope to see more videos from Cerro Gordo
Awesome video !!!!!! Thank you Dan !!!!!
Crazy to see California floating away in a Canadian river. 😊 I love these videos, especially when you have the family with you.
Thanks again. Until the next one #RockLove 🪨 ❤️
DAN..
ALWAYS SO GOOD TO SEE YOU ! ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU SHOW UP IN MY STATE.
EXCITEMENT ABOUNDS...LET'S GOOOOO !!
thanks for review❤
Great vlog!! Hope you go back real soon!!!
Good luck, and I always enjoy.
The orange crystals remind me of Wulfenite I found at a Galena mine in the North Eastern US
I find it funny watching some older videos and evans voice is high pitched and now his voice is deeper. Crazy how they grow so fast my son is 18 and he has a deep voice but sometimes he sais stuff that makes me laugh from when he was younger and high pitched
This is fantastic! You should do more videos with Brent
Hers a tip from somebody who lives in the snow . You guys should wait til early or late to plow the road it's soft during the day but crunchy with traction early or late
Sweet video great content thank you for sharing this six stars
Well done sir
Can’t wait to hear the results from the test
I think you and your friends need a Hägglunds Viking utility tractor, possibly one each, as it's peerless snow and offroad mobility would help you a lot up in BC, it's even amphibious!
Like Dan doesn't get into enough entertainmentcas it is...careful what you suggest, or one day he'll pop up on the moon....🤣🤣
What a joyous video, eye candy for mineral lovers
Awesome video
Love to see a large scale prospect done
Love your videos Dan :)
Happy you went to cerro gordo
Thanks for modding!
Woooow the colors 😍
I was building sheep fencing one winter. We went out in the morning to the worksite, I got out with a mattock. I started at the edge of the trench, over the weekend we'd had snow and a hard frost. I nearly shook the teeth out of my mouth!
Can’t wait to see you 2 set the sluice up at Cerro Gordo and run through those tailings
@DanHurd Looks like Wulfenite, a Lead Molybdate. It can be most often found as thin tabular crystals with a bright orange-red to yellow-orange color, in its yellow form it is sometimes called "yellow lead ore".
Always a to watch you I action
Keep up the good work 👍
Good one Dan
A couple weeks ago when you pointed out that quartz vein inside Cerro Gordo, which I saw on MBM's video, my interest has been piqued about possible gold at Cerro Gordo. I can't wait until you get to explore more areas when the snow clears. So cool that Brent is open to your skills and allowing you to explore! I wish they took volunteers I'd be there in a flash!
As you know visiting old mining sites with modern techniques as well as the high price of gold, makes revisiting many of these areas quite worth it! Gets me excited. I just love rocks and minerals And I learn something new every time I watch your videos. Thank you!
Piqued. Sorry, it's reflex. 😜🤣👍 In all good cheer, have a great one!
@@RICDirector No worries! I'm always open to spelling corrections. If I was great at writing, I wouldn't be a photographer! 🙃🙂
awesome. congrats on 1m!
You're the best friend I hope to have a big channel like yours on RUclips
That snow is wild!
Now there's death vally sand and rocks in canadian rivers!
😁👋👍👍👏👏💕🙏🏻
Thank you so much for sharing this video. You guys are totally living one of my dreams.
Oh, oh, "...another trip to Cerro Gordo..." sounds very good.
There's a dazzy chain cable or rope to not let the camera fall to far from the hand wrist. My GoPro came with a tether mini cable to anchor camera to whatever you want so it doesn't go far. If it works for you. thanks for your wonderful videos.
you find some of the coolest colors.
Dan,
Thank you for suffering for our pleasure:)
Cheers,
Rik
soooo confirmed another video at some point nice these have been great i was really hoping you were gonna go to that one place brent went when he was trying to confirm that he had smithsonite i wonder what your reaction woulda been xD cant wait to see more hopefully jason comes with again too cause the excavation video was actually so interesting i was wondering if brent was ever gonna try that really hope he can get that mine open
Dan! Find a big nugget man!!! Love your videos.
Good morning from Southeast South Dakota
Im a Geology Student, a Field trip with Dan and or his friends would be a dream
Thank you
Love how youtube miners/prospectors are getting together...
There's GOLD in them there hills !!!WHOO HOOO FROM CALIFORNIA JOHHNY AND CANDY WHAT!!!
You gotta have a snøfres, not a plow or digger. Them don’t work in those conditions
Another great video. Thanks. The area I pan is on fire right now so videos will have to suffice until I can get back out.
😬 sorry to hear that! stay safe out there....from rapidly warming CA.
Probably the most excited for a calab ever
I cant remember the name of that orange crystal, but he went down into the union mine in one of his videos, and there was a lot of it down there.
Yall need a sled, makes the haul easier. Plus it would be extremely fun going down the skids path. I want to go sledding now but im in texas 😢
Dan , the yellow tabular crystals that was “heavy” barium sulphate / bayrite us3d to weight drilling muds
Would testing the Lead for gold content be a good indicator to chase through the mines?
Looking forward to the assay weird heavies that are there in quite high concentrations if they are valuable those tailing piles could be a valuable asset
Your mineral specimen that you panned out could be Orpiment or Wulfenite. Both are orange and both have bladed crystal forms.
Wulfenite
Oh hey! Those crystals at 23:05 sure look like Wulfenite to me.
Very impressive to find any significant gold at all in Cerro Gordo - with millions of ounces of silver being produced there vs hundreds of ounces of gold. And both those being dwarfed by tons of lead and zinc. Maybe there are a lot of surprises hiding in the tailings piles there!
I'm looking forward to seeing the results of the assay. What was that white stuff? And what is that yellow crystalline structure?
Best guess, wulfenite...a lead compound
Come checkout Nevada City / Grass Valley next time you're headed north through California.
dissolve the white powder in Nitric acid. Add bit of tablesalt. If white percipitate forms that darkens unther light it's Silver.
Hope you can go back soon 😁
The yellow mineral looks like Wulfenite. GO BACK, DAN! I love to see those Coop´s in sutch a great area.
you ever do any fishing in them pretty streams??
Would it be worth setting up a plant and going through all of those tailings? He's already got a baco up there!
Kubota tractors really are fabulous
