  • My second day at Historic Cerro Gordo Silver and Lead mine, I set my sites on finding GOLD! As Brent and Jason look in the doomed Omega adit, Evan and I search for the fabled gold in far less than ideal circumstances. What and adventure and an ordeal, but we found it!

Back in the old old days placer miners were having a problem with a white metal clogging up their sluices. They threw it away because they were "gold miners by god"!
Someone had the idea to take some of this stuff and have it asseyed, he found out it was platinum that they were throwing away. You can still find it in their old tailings and I've found some in my sluice in southern Oregon, but not like it was in California.
