With all the craziness in the world I can just spend a little time watching Dan prospecting for gold and it puts me in a happy place. Thanks Dan 🙏
Couldn’t agree more.
Dan. 23:37, cornflakes and pomegranates! Looks like a gourmet breakfast, lol!
I've been watching for a few years, and I know I'm not alone in thinking your videos are 100x better than any gold rush shows on discovery
Apples and oranges bud. Dan Hurd is prospecting, Gold Rush is mining. I get it though, you prefer prospecting over the millions in gold mined by Parker and Beets. Nothing wrong with that, I like both.
@@darrenlee2775 it isn't really. Dan also does what they do, granted on a smaller scale.
And its not comparing _what_ they are doing, its comparing the quality of what they do and how its portrayed.
Gold Rush simply doesn't compare to Dan
Hi Dan, love your videos. They’re so informative. Was wondering if you could do a video explaining how to acquire a claim in BC, the cost, the legalities of mining on a claim, an explanation of where panning is simply open to the public, and maybe even a link to a ‘claim map’. Thank you.
i would be blown away getting " a few specs" hahahah he is jaded from success
I’m floored over a few specs as well! I love finding gold! Dan makes this contagious!
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser he does he got me thinking . i live a block from a river with a water fall that rivers out to a bay into the ocean
@@swettyspaghtti just have to go there and give it a shot! That’s what I would do! Good luck!
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser yeah i mean why not ?
Your commitment to providing content has no rivals. Thank you
I love those garnets.
Dan, you should have seen the material I pulled off the top layer! You got it exactly right with hitting the layer of frozen pay the weekend before! Enjoyed the video and the geology tips!
Last time I was at Mission Creek (many years ago now), there were bears. Such a B.C. experience for me :) Now that the pandemic has wound down, I may go out there to visit some friends in Kelowna and Penticton. The Penticton friend actually wrote a book on Okanagan geology. He's not primarily a geologist--actually a radio astronomer (retired), but has a keen interest in geology as well.
These are my favourite kind of videos produced by you Dan. Golden pans!
this is going to be another great video from Dan
Thanks for the GLOTD, Dan. I have often wondered how gold gets in the river. Now I know
I also learn more and more
from him with each video I watch. Great stuff!
Used to live right on Mission Creek in Kelowna in the 80's. Now in Ontario but my Son-in-Law is a Gold Mine Designer in Nunavit! He designs the tunnel system in the mines.
Glad to see you are doing better since your health problems last year! Take care and have a blessed day!
Can’t wait for your Cerro gordo video!
Dan you make happen.
Gold is a addition to what you do.
Keep up the great work!
Agree with this 💯!
"Wow, I never would have thought that you could find such great gold right in town! This video is a real eye-opener and it's amazing to see what treasures can be found with just a little bit of exploration. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us and inspiring us to go out and explore our own backyards for hidden gems!"🎉
Thanks for the fix
From one heart patient to another, THANK YOU for another great video. Keep ‘em coming.
Take care of that ticker!
Thank you so much for this video. I am headed to Kelowna for a week at the end of the month and will be sure to pack my gold pan now :)
Gold Luck Veronica!
Dan i really enjoy your vidios and your comments when you find gold.
I'm with you Dan. I'm just taking my bucket into a heated shed to pan it down.
"Well, there we go, about another half bucket, maybe five eighths, FOUR FIFTHS OF FIVE EIGHTHS!!
Hahaha the way dan said that totally reminded me of something Johnny Depp would say in Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas.
Dan every video you make feels like an adventure. I feel like I've been there with you. You make me want to try panning for gold and hopefully I will someday. Thanks for another great video Dan,well done my friend
Just get out there Geez! Pans are cheap and it can be such a rewarding experience! I’m in love with prospecting!
You were right that was a relaxing breath of fresh air
Always a great time here with you!
Those garnets are gorgeous little gems .
Mighty nice gold. Getting out is just as good as finding gold.
Dear Dan, I’m sitting here in NZ with the air on on because it’s such a warm evening. I do not miss the snow & cold of the northern hemisphere! When you hit frozen ground I thought “ where’s your handy dandy miners pickaxe?” I could almost feel the cold through those big rubber gloves…. You really love what you do! Thank you for sharing and taking us along on your adventures ❤🎉🎉🎉😊
Also love your glotd's that you do now.
Another great video Dan
good finding ❤
Wow, awesome day out. Love the Garnets too, thank you for sharing 🙏👍❤️
I would take my vacations just to do this. Love it
Nice explanation of the change in the river layout due to flood events. At 3:19 the swale coming down the hill (middle of the screen) looks like a nice low pressure change as runoff water would hit the main channel. 👍🏻🤠
Loving the new slow-mo Dan! You are well on the way to persuading me into buying some of your equipment and panning in my grandparents river that goes through an old gold mine here in NZ
Reading this comment makes me jealous! I’d be all over that river with a pan! Good luck out there!
Please Do it!!!!!
Only Dan Hurd calls what he was doing in this video "Relaxing by the river."!! 🙂
REALLY enjoy your stuff, Dan!!
Me and my familly dont care for eating much fish, so panning is my excuse to go relax by the river, but i agree it is the physiclly hardest way iv ever relaxed ha!
You found the spot I've been working for a while! 😁
Greetings from the BIG SKY.
Dan the man, I was involved in a survey of the bottom of a certain river where it meets the ocean which was potentially related to the late great Slumac Jack and his lost mine. The spanish were in there with 3 galeons. Story goes that 3 ships tied abreast to each other received chunks in a metal framed leather lined basket lowered from the slopes of this particular area. I also know of an elder around the Keremeos area where I lived for 15 years where an individual would walk in a particular direction and come back every time with a nugget. Im currently inn Langley BC and it would be totally cool to sit down and share these and more stories as seeing you cover this would be incredible.
Was that survey for the deadmans show!!
@@howestream2070 no it was a private investment company that hired me to survey the ocean bottom by scuba.
Slumac Jack was the last man hung in BC, New Westminster to be correct. Check it out. The lost gold mine.
That must have pretty bad ass knowing you could be potentially help find a treasure or actually maybe seeing something to do with it while you were down there
@@joshdyer3670 Lots of stories. To this day nobody has found that one spanish galeon that the other two ships loaded all the gold on and sunk it as that is the time when the British was coming and took over North America.
Fun day at the river !
I love the "Pan-Cam" angle! :-)
love the slow mo shots dan great video thanks for sharing.
Tis the season to dust off the rust. We just hit up yale for the low water panning. Next will be mission creek before spring flood. I always stop by freds gold shop in rutland on the way.
Aloha, Always enjoy watching your adventures.
Cool vid, great slo-mo shots, good gold!
Thanks Dan, you never disappoint.
Hi Dan! Always love your videos! So informative and light-hearted,thankyou! ❤

Land o' lakes,wi........here ! .................great class today..........got the fever😯😯....tnx,pat&family
This is the second winter I've come to BC and have really fallen in love with the rocks out here. I even went crystal hunting this year. I'm going to stop along the Fraser on my way back to the prairies. Wish me luck.
Good Luck

That GLOTD was really cool!
Love seeing Dan in action! Good times always!
Thanks!
Might sound strange but I love the idea of finding garnet a hell of a lot more than the gold.. Great video Dan
I worked a fossil location for three years with my wife. It took us 1 full year of kayaking and canoeing up and down a river to find the perfect spot. We included one person we trusted on a trip, when we returned a month later, tours were bringing people to it! I am lock a safe note when it comes to my locations. I won’t mention any RUclipsrs by name, but a few claiming the “spot” to be secret, it’s not. It was when only my wife, Greg Moondog Mooney, and my self knew about it. The second we shared with an avid collector, he began tours… I know the pain, and it’s very similar. The river used to cut a creek out on the limestone layer behind a bench on where the bank is. Then after summer time, the water would recede, washing all the beautiful phosphate preserved fossils right into a patch for us to cherry pick. Largest Meg tooth found there was 7.32 inches. My favorite species is Isurus Hastalis though, and that is more rare there as this was a Meg nursery! So lots of Mommy Meg teeth, juvenile Meg teeth, so well preserved, even the kill site of their prey preserved. As you dig the ribs of the dugong up, the Meg teeth were just implanted! Also many mammoth and other ice age species in that area. All beautiful colors blue, red, etc.
Beautiful day to enjoy some prospecting. Glad to see you..
Great video Dan!
These are my favorite videos. Thanks for sharing this adventure with us.
Dan, I'm glad to see you are showing much more strength and greater lasting power... And I'm glad to see the famous beard finally back to it's old glory!
Dan, when I was 14, my Boy Scout Troop made a fishing trip to Lake Quesnel. We were from Northern California. If I had known there was gold there, I would have left my fishing pole at home! 😊
That was fun, but I got kinda cold there. I'm thinking this year I'm going up into Montana to look for sapphires.
Philipsburg MT is an amazing place for sapphires. I was there a few years ago and the town in cute and they have sapphire mining areas where they teach you everything. Worth the trip :)
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser Thanks for that info. My son has been pushing me for 2 years to go up there.
@@roxannaweaver2155 you’re welcome and that’s how it always is… we have to be pushed sometimes to make it happen. Life’s too short to wait… just go for it! Good luck to you Roxanna!
Thanks for another great video Dan!
Thanks Dan! Your knowledge is so fantastic. I really appreciate and enjoy your videos. You panning gold I find the most interesting. Happy Easter 🐰.
The sound of your panning in the river is the best ASMR
Those garnets sure look great with that gold! I hope you have a great day and a Happy Easter too🐇🐥🐇
Does Cabelas sponsor you Dan?
pimpin those neoprene waders for them and all ;)
Nice day on the creek.
Hello Dan: REGARDS from South Africa 🇿🇦.
That was a whole lot of fun Dan!
It’s always fun with Dan!
Thanks for bringing us along Mr Hurd, I really enjoyed this panning session 😉 im looking forward to coming to BC, Looking at that gold has me excited 😁 and some nice garnets too, will be nice to get a vial of those to take home.
Dan thank you for showing the no gold pans along with the gold in the pans & thanks for all your hard work making these videos!!👍👍😎
Loving the slo mo Dan xx
loved the slow mo shots! great vid 👍
My Mum lived in Kelowna until she passed away from lung cancer a month before you filmed this video. She saw the mountains for the first time in the early '80's and said "I'm gonna live here, someday," and she did.
Dan ya got me bud , your opening line works you got 1 more subscriber, as a new prospector i have watched a pile of your vids, even tho im in new brunswick, your knowlege has helped me read the land..no gold yet but ill let ya know! Thks bud
Right on the money. Sweet gold. Rock on.
Great video Dan as always! Class is in session!
You're the man, Dan!
love the geology lesson Dan!
Nice work. Keep up the great work
Thanks alot Dan! Now everyone is going to be traipsing around my back yard to get to the gold!
Watching this the night before my first day out prospecting thanks for the inspiration
Very Nice Dan!
Love the slow mo videos!
Need some "sittin rock" merch :)
Thank you for taking me panning with you today really Put me in a good mood for a day off I have a small paydirt bag I’m gonna go paint in my backyard
Have you ever taken a sample of your concentrates it and looked at it under a microscope? I know this sounds silly because you already have a really good close-up when you get down super small but like an actual microscope. Love the slow motion on the panning nice angle
Hey Dan, haven't watched any videos or commented in a while. Loved the video. Next time maybe a wheelbarrow and a classification screen so you can get more and not have to tote buckets to the water. I would love to have a place like that here in Georgia USA, but not that lucky as the government regulates where and with what you can use. My area is pan and shovel only as well as limited places that are public without joining a club. People like myself only want to do this as a hobby and not pay thousands to access rivers that clubs have mined for many years. But love your videos, happy hunting and keep safe .
Thankyou for the tips it was entertaining not as entertaining as doing myself but as usual your tips are great
great episode !
The slow motion shots were really cool 👍🏻
Looks like a gold and garnet day for you Dan
Great video and Happy Easter to yoiu and your family
I always enjoy the geology lesson of the day.
I keep hearing Burl Ives singing in my head: Garnets and Gold, Garnets and Gold.
I have gotten the fever and it's your fault Dan. Thank you sir, currently panning my families private property in parts unknown with great success due to techniques gathered from watching you. Much appreciated!
Golf fever never leaves you. I didn’t start watching Dan, but he sure makes it more and more contagious!
That was FN awesome. You are the man,....Dan.
Great to see another year starting! I'm going to do some panning in province of quebec myself this year. I applied for a prospecting license and found out in this province you don't need a prospecting license any more. If was abolished in 2021. Hoping I can find something this summer on public property, staying within regulation of course. Going to use what I've learned from all these videos. Thanks Dan!
Dans a legend Neil and I wish you luck! We can all learn so much from his videos. I know I have.
Where do you recommend we look for gold in California?
@@Dream7773 I hear the Yuba River is loaded with it. Just make sure you’re not on someone else’s claim though.
@@StoneyCreekSparkchaser rookie question here, how do we know if it's claimed/owned property?
@@Dream7773 most if not all claims are marked with yellow claim signs. If I were you and in California (I’m in Washington) I’d Google where to find gold on public land in California. California is know to have gold in almost every creek. Especially the northern parts. It can be daunting finding a spot. This I know from experience being up here as well, but rest assured, there are so many places to find gold. Heck maybe even in your backyard :)
Brrrrrr. That water looked so cold! 🥶🧊😰 I ❤ Sundays! I really look forward to your new videos dropping on Sunday mornings, Dan! 👍
Love the local videos the most, even if its not pickerton or dream claim gold. You should use one of your Dan Hurd buckets instead.
Thumbs up for the sources of gold lesson - Thank You
Do you ever check the classifier for any small nuggets
That’s a great question. I’m
Sure he does at times. I know when I go to my usual spots, I know there aren’t any pickers so I just dump it out. Now if I go to a place that has known pickers, then you can bet I’m sifting through it
