- Today in this episode we're creating the Sherlock Holmes effect.
Quite simple and easy to follow, can be applied in multiple projects.
Keep in mind that not all shots are going to be worked perfectly.
it is ideal to plan out your shots ahead before shooting
4k footage would be ideal for this kind of effect.
Close up bokeh shots would be nice too.
make sure to play around and see what you like
important thing is to learn and hone your skill set
Remember, this is just a creative direction you can take to aid your storytelling.
I appreciate how there’s no ads, thanks.
Can you put your final product in the beginning or end of the video so that we can know what you made, and what we're getting ourselves into
^this
Yee.
This is Tutorial Sin #1.
LISTEN TO THIS MAN!
Please
Yes
Great tutorial, Really helpful. I was really hoping you would go a little further and show how to do the internal canon effect.
great tutorial! crazy to think about the creative minds behind all these very effective but very simple effects!!
Good opportunity to make a video, Helps a lot, thank you very so much Josh!
This is the same effect used in the Penniwise's dance scene in It :O
Sorry but I don't even see what kind of effect that is you apparently copied.
That was just simple footage tracking....
Please explain
I agree.
This effect gives the impression that the camera is moving in tandem with the action. So, say you film someone who is jumping, but you filmed it from a tripod. Use this effect and it gives the impression that the camera is jumping right along with your talent.
it wasn't the best type of footage to use the tracking effect on. it's a powerful effect but you got to pick the right ways to use it.
totally agree!
That's the same effect used in the Sherlock Holmes example. It's just that there's a LOT more motion in the Sherlock example and so the result is far more drastic in appearance. But it's the same effect.
Thanks for the tip... It was pretty simple and obvious I am wondering how I could'nt think about it before
Great Tutorial I got your point 5 stars for this video.
Bill: Let's make a tutorial that doesn't show the end result
Mark: you got yourself a promotion
Nice
I wish youtube had a love button!!
sooo...what exactly was the effect you were trying to replicate?
shit movies :D
im scratching my head at this video i dont understand he just stabilized it?
are you really going to use that word? do you not understand its socially unacceptable and rude. anything you say now is deemed a prick comment you lost all your credit. He tracked a shot. He did not do "an effect" you can get this same "effect" by holding your camera still.
Subject is stable, background moves a lot, it makes viewers "feel" that run better... and no, he did not stabilize the entire shot; if he did that, everything would be stable...
Elias Travers Good luck with that. The camera would have to move in sync with the actors movements. Head turning, arms moving etc. It would be damn near impossible. The way he showed in the video is an easy way to replicate it following an actors head movements for instance as seen in Sherlock Holmes.
thx, this is very useful!!!!!!!! its easy to achieve!!!
Amazing tutorial...thanks
He made the Logo names become more visible
CINEMATIC EFFECT used in HOLLYWOOD? NO WAY DUDE!?!
Just use warp stabilizer on premiere pro your welcome.
adobe after effects
adobe premiere pro
I can't use Windows movie maker😀😀
LMAO This the funniest tutorial I have ever seen.
It is hard to get what are you at since we dont see the final video.
Many thanks!
I don't even get what you tried to achieve and in what ways the final result was different from the original footage.
That's exactly what I wanna know thx
how do u get the analyse box open?
I get what effect you're trying to replicate, but this addresses neither the special considerations that need to be taken to film the footage nor the actual process of creating the effect you showcased, and instead you just showed how to stabilize a few seconds of video.
Thank you for this
and for adobe premiere?
Thank u so much
why are you guys asking what he did? The frame follows the subject, obviously a cameraman cannot follow the subject perfectly, that would require inhuman skill, plus I’m sure your camera would jello on that rolling shutter. people seriously whine for no reason its great haha. "thats not an effect! you just zoomed in"
A camera man can, that's why we use camera systems, stabilization arms, or put the camera on tracks and follow the subject. Its quite common to follow a subject, you see it in just about every other shot in movies. this here is post stabilization which isn't great especially what he shows where he loses half the frame. And as stated in other comments, warp stabilizer does it for you in premiere or you can manually track points in after effects but its been automated for years now. Yes it does zoom in to track a point and keep it steady which is why if its too shaky a shot its not worth it to stabilize unless you want to lose half of the shot.
Hey anyone knows if this effect can be accomplished through Final cut pro X? Thanks!:)
Only if you keyframe
Good ~ 좋아요 ~ 挺好 ~ 💯
My computer goes to coma
thanks for a nice tutorial! 😄
hollywod
This Effect should be called The Guy Richie Effect.
How to edit sherlock fighting scene?
the fight scenes are shot with high shutter speeds, it would be pretty hard to reproduce that with fx on regular footage.
Do u live in s. korea?
LIONEL, What is this program used in the video to make the effect? Sony Vegas? Or Adobe After
It's After Effects from Adobe
It's dardobe - after sandstorms
Lol Ben
I am drinking wine at a fancy restaurant on a beach and just do not care.
Isolated stabilization
You sound like itsGerrie
which software please?
nikunj olpadwala after effects
I thought you make the hole Video like the trailerscenes. I was happy but than it ends. Too bad! 🤷🏼♂️
At first I though this would be a joke tutorial
Hollywod
I don’t see anything
First off, clip too short to notice whatever you said you did...
I have no idea what effect you did!! Need to work on your story telling dude.
That didn't look anything like the movie you were trying to replicate...
Subtle* not "suttle" ...
Not a good tutorial, you showed the steps, but not all moments are this easy. Second, The video of him running was awfully short, and not sufficient to see the effect
3:10 Ultimate anyone? lol
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME FIND A CRACK FOR AE 2017.
Inbox me
Levant Marcus how?
For me is impossible see baseball as a sport, I always see it more like a bunch of fat guys wearing pajamas (pijamas with pockets by the way), for some reason I always picture the guy trying to steal a base sending messages while he is waiting and even perhaps playing candy crush.
Dave M. Coke toasted you
BURRRR
try cricket
Dave M. Boi what do you consider a sport. This is a sport as much as any other.
I love how you made this video. I'm just starting a travel video project called the travel cinematics that basically produces travel videos in a movie style and I use Adobe AE. I've been trying to get really "movies in thr cinema" kind of videos for my travel videos. Here's my latest video about italy ruclips.net/video/XbAdo10gcGQ/видео.html . It's still not there yet for me. Still trying to figure out what can I improve. Maybe you can give some comments?? Thanks!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA 0:30
Its actually HAHAHAHAHAHA 0:27

I think its a cinematic bullshit
Hollywood is a shit reference to a good cinema.
