  • During the 2020 pandemic lockdown, I discovered reading fiction is a powerful tool to combat burnout and anxiety. It helped me feel connected and understand the importance of stories in human survival, empathy, and belonging.

This is something I've always felt but could never articulate! The feeling of reading about someone going through the same thing as you is so healing in of itself, but its even better because books have such a funny tendency to always provide a thoughtful solution to those pains as well

Reading fiction can be a safe space to explore those feelings and play around with possibilities as we resonate with the characters and their experiences. I'm experiencing that right now while reading Hello Beautiful by Ann Napolitano. My life is nothing like the characters in that novel, but they are helping me process some feelings anyway! I'm glad you enjoyed this video.

I like this video! I am using it as a reference for my essay on 'Should people read only realistic books?'

@@narrativedrive The Stolen Throne by David Gaider! It's a book based off of a game series that I love (Dragon Age), which is, in turn, highly influenced by Arthurian legend. Dark fantasy is my favorite fiction genre, followed very closely by medieval/Renaissance based historical fiction. :')
