    I use this Plugin all the time when I mix these days. It adds so much "Mojo" to the sound and for some reason also makes plugins behave differently in an even more pleasing and rewarding way. I often times just use it on individual buses, especially on instruments that have a lot of transients like Vocals, Clean Guitars, and Drums.

      Agree with you. I use mix fx in almost every project (basically Console Shaper and Softube Tape). Sometimes the CTC-1(modern console) works great on rock drums. I recommend to find unofficial mixFX manual on a Presonus forums where specified how it works. Really love this feature in Studio One!

    A little off topic, but you touched on it. Whenever adding an analog effect listen to the color it adds before tweaking. For example, you recorded a guitar part. You throw on Fat Channel. Have all the EQ settings at zero and listen to the differences between the different EQs. Do the same with the compressors. The color they add at zero can already help.

    I remember my first mix on Studio One. I learned in the 70’s then took some years. I remember thinking that everything sounded so separate and clinical. I had no idea why, then I tried saturation on an individual channel and didn’t really understand why something so subtle could be so significant. I finally learned how subtle saturation started gluing stuff together. But that first mix was super hard to understand why everything was so separate sounding.

      Quality always comes at a cost. No matter if it's a high-end EQ, amp modeler or this. You can control CPU load by either processing selected tracks routed to a bus, or you can try ECO mode (CTC-1).

      @@reinklang I think the amount I would pay would have more to do with the algorithm being good enough that a major brand would be willing to put their name on it. I think the current Statespace models included with the Fat Channel and Ampire fall short of those made by other manufacturers and I'd like to see them held to a higher standard, as would hopefully happen in the licensing process.

    I didn't know about this at all this is quite awesome. However I think the reason the sound changes so much is because its PRE inserts? So it's basically destroying your mix because comp thresholds etc aren't set up properly anymore. Would be nice to have it either apply post or pre your normal inserts.

    I tried it out, they showed up on my master subs which is fine. I tried it on a new re-mix for an upcoming video of a song I have out. I really didn't add to much because I am already mixing with console one that does the same thing but it does not have the cross talk which is interesting. Personally I'm not a fan of cross talk but perhaps a bit of an underlying bit of it would help glue the mix. If I were to use that feature, I think I'd use it before adding processing to the master subs so I can add post EQ on the subs with that in mind. When I was doing live recordings I was used to masking a mix and really good at it. That is sort of the same thing that is going on in an analog console and on analog tape recorders.

    Hey Joe does studio one have a stock saturation plugin

  • @BladesMusic
    @BladesMusic 3 года назад

    I am a Console 1 user so some of the functions of this are in there (like the drive on each channel), but not the ability to mix it into the "MixFX" across the channels (which would be really awseom Softube if you are listening, and since you allow "tape" to be used that way). I really like the Console 1 and the various emulations I have for it and I wonder how much overkill this is on top of that - layers of drive and whatnot; with the Console 1 intending to BE the console strip for each channel and with other functions (EQ, Compression, etc). I picked up the Console 1 after trying the built-in Console Shaper because I thought it sounded terrible and the Console 1 sounds amazing, but now, as a Sphere member, I picked up the CTC-1 to see how it works and it definitely sounds better (to me) than the built in Console shaper but without the extra awesomeness of the Console 1 stuff. What to do!? So many great choices. I think I will add them all and turn them up to eleven! :) Thanks for the clear and non-confusing explanation of these.

    What would be really crazy is having this DSP built in to StudioLive consoles.
    This alone makes me want to buy StudioOne Pro. UA Luna has a similar “mix buss” feature. In addition you can do the same kind of thing but instead of console emulation it adds tape emulation.
    Presonus please add tape emulation to Studio One!

Guitar-pedals-DI-32s-studio-board-JBL EONS….. problem: I’m trying to get the studio sound of guitar, using Amplitube for amp and cabinets, to come out live. Unfortunately I get the raw guitar in the sound also. Assuming it comes directly from the board and is mixed with the studio sound. How do I stop the raw (clean) sound. Rookie status here. Kinda.

    Nice intro. Two buttons that got missed on CTC-1: "Channel" and "Bus". You dropped it on the Master Bus, but left it set for "Channel". What's the difference in function? Does either effect channels differently? Should it be on "Bus" when on the Master Bus? Inquiring minds need to know... It's not in the manual!! Thnx

  • @AlexLapugean
    @AlexLapugean 3 года назад +1

    Hey PreSonus, please fix the issue of the Mix Engine FX not applying to tracks that have side-chain inputs to them! I understand the idea is to not double the processing, but most of the time, the side chain is not heard, it's actually used for detection purposes (side-chain compression for ex), not actually heard, so you're not doubling anything. In electronic music, a lot of channels use this side-chaining, if half, or more than half of the tracks do not actually get processed, its basically useless!
    Not saying to change the functionality completely - maybe both functionalities are desired - but it should not be a big deal to have a switch to activate/deactivate processing on each channel with side chain inputs. I bought CTC-1 non knowing this, and I really love the sound, I would love to use it but I can't because of this.

    I notice that CTC-1 sounds more open, and takes more than twice as much CPU at 96k vs 44.1k.
    Does this mean that the CTC-1 saturation is aliasing at 44.1k, or is there some ingenious algorithm to deal with this problem?
    Thanks!
