Same as I expected I began searching for noise issues in my freshly installed backup camera had never seen your channel before but I had automatically assumed with my previous knowledge that it was because I wired straight into the harness ground and didn't create my own body ground. Long story short after watching your video I love the way you explain things and you're doing awesome keep it up
Amazingly insightful and helpful video(s). I installed a Carpuride screen & backup camera in a 2013 VW Passat. I was frustrated and disappointed when I discovered the signal noise. Your video gave me the confidence that I had installed it correctly but it was the car’s pulsating power that created the noise. Your instructions are very clear with wonderful explanations. I might switch my camera later to one you recommend and your blade wire hook up will make that much easier.
Use a relay it's the most reliable option
I like it when you say if the first set of pliers don't work because your not strong enough try these, and you pull out a set of water pump pliers. You do know there are actual correct tools for these.
Dude you waste a good 5 mins of the video before you get to what the title of your video is. Damn get tour priorities straight
Thanks a lot!! Without your videos I'd be clueless.
J.L And without awesome subscribers like you I would be at home eating Cheetos and getting fat!
Buy a crimp tool and the right colour (color USA) crimp for the wire size, I would suggest a red. You do not solder and crimp, use only one method, crimping relies on the deformation of the wires. All colours of crimp have all the size holes or forks.
Thanks for the awesome backup car camera tips. I have installed the esky camera with sensors based on the previous video review and I'm happy I landed on this page. I performed the install on a 2011 Subaru Legacy on a newly installed aftermarket touchscreen kenwood stereo and now the camera quality suffers from the rolling fuzzy lines. However the lines show up whether the car has started or not. Hope this rectifier capacitor works.
+Bryan Wan it definitely will clean it up. Keep me posted.
I finally got the capacitor installed and I still get the fuzzy lines! Now I see that you have a new video with a relay, why did you go with that component to resolve the display noise?
+Bryan Wan A capacitor will clean up most cameras. I would check your grounding point and verify it's ground to a Clean bare metal location. Also verify your positive connection is on nice and tight. If the capacitor still doesn't clear it up then I would definitely step it up to the relay.
+Bryan Wan There is also a good chance the camera maybe bad... Try the relay approach they are cheap like $4
Definitely one of the best technical tutorials I've ever seen. Very skillful and clean installation supported by a very well comprehensible explanation - even for me as a German follower! All thumbs up! :D
+Alexander Traxel Thanks!!! That's an awesome compliment!!
+Alexander Traxel Side note Happy October fest
Haha thanks, but it is only rumor every German celebrates the "Oktoberfest". It is mainly celebrated in Bavaria, which is the most southern state of Germany. Side note: The one and only "Oktoberfest" in Munich (the Capital of Bavaria) already opens at the 3rd weekend of September and closes at the first weekend in October! ;)
Alexander Traxel .....my life has been a lie, lol

I had exactly the same issue on my VW golf gti . great picture without engine running and as soon as I started the car and engaged reverse I had the static noise and lines, I hope this fixes it. cheers

Soooo .. . how was the weather in florida in 2017?
Will that work if my screen has cyclowarp? I just installed a camera in the exact same car same head unit and it's black and white and warping. Can't get a stable clean image.
So I can see you didn't have the negative disconnected..some folks say to disconnect..I like the capacitor better than the relay..just me..lol. Great showing as always...carry on. Joe
I only disconnect a car battery if I know I will have an live wire exposed, or working on Airbag system. The relay is just as good, and it's available at every autopart store.
+Raymond Urias ..yeah that's probably where I'm heading..capacitors are hard to find..thx. Joe
Thank you very much, finally
Glade I stumbled across your channel...it really helps me out.
What is the value of the capacitor and 8ts type?
I have a wireless camera that does this. Do I have to put the capacitor on the power for the transmitter and receiver plus the monitor.
same problem. let me know if you get an answer...
That's a shame about your Z3....it looked to be a nice clean one. Hope you get sorted with insurance.
Ray B It was....😭 I'll be back to working on it soon I hope

Will this also fix the image being upside down and image coming on while driving forward??
Image upside down has to do with camera orientation. Or there could be a wire that you need to snip on the aftermarket camera that will rotate it 180 from a front-facing camera to a rear facing
Watched the auto-vox M1 W rearview camera installation. Now for this fuzzy issue, could you please tell me what TYPE of capacitor (specs) to use, please? No, I'm not good with electricals. Just got a used 2007 Audi, and would love to install a camera. Thought the wireless would be less hassle (still trying to figure out where to place the screen, OTHER than the obvious place). Anyhow, DEFINITELY enjoy watching your tips! 👏👏👏. Thank you. 👍
+B R Nice buy! Best place is far left corner if you have an American drive. The capacitor is good way to go or if they are hard to get where you live then consider buying a Relay:

The specs for the capacitor are:

Raymond Urias...Both camera and capacitor from Amazon. PERFECT! I'm in Oregon; 2007 A4 2.0T, with 80K miles. I was seeing if I can position the screen more discreetly, but maybe you're right about the left corner. So just to clarify, the capacitor will suffice. The relay is not necessary. UNLESS, there capacitor fails to do the trick. Thanks again, for your feedback. 👍
+B R capacitor will work out perfectly. The only static you may get is the wireless signal, but that's rare with the M1W.
Raymond Urias...Kewl!! Thanks, AGAIN, for your prompt response AND help. Keep up the GREAT work! VERY MUCH appreciated.
Please tell me you've picked up a proper crimping tool in the years since this video was made. :D
Oh yes lots
Dude can you give me the value of the caapacitor? Ive installed a cam in a passatt today and works, but when turn ON the car the screen turns black, so the capacitor just go on positive wire? I mean reverse12v-----capacitor----12v cam??
I got that same backup camera because your review. Camera is great but the buzzer didn’t work. You have a video on how to fix it
+Uriel Brabus I'll have to make a video. But there are plenty of buzzers on eBay and Amazon just redo the wiring
+Uriel Brabus hmmmm that's a first for me I'll have to look at mine and see how to fix it
For me, I strapped the wires down too tight when cleaning up the look. I didn’t want any dangling wires but in the way I did it, it stopped the buzzer from working.
To fix it, I rerouted the wires so they’d have more slack and not too tightly taped/fastened, and the buzzer started working again. Figured this out since the buzzer only worked when the trunk was open, and stopped when it was closed. There was too much tension on the wires with the trunk closed.
Hope trying a reroute or giving more slack to the wires helps.
How would you wire capacitor solution with 2014 jetta and 2.4 wireless BK UP system? Same crawl lines on screen which stop when brake applied but return when letting off brake.

Use a relay for a jett8

Hi there, I have a camera that is distorted at all times even with the car off. The camera worked fine for the first few months it was installed. I purchased a new one to replace it thinking that was the problem but the new one doesnt display anything but a black screen. The old one still worked but only showed very distorted signal. Do you think this would help?
I would definitely try this or a relay. Also check your ground
@@RaymondUrias it is spliced into the power and ground wires for the reverse light. Many people use this application on my vehicle. I am wondering if it has something to do with my aftermarket tails.
11:24 Bring out the big guns! Hell yeah!
My car is like yours in the video. The picture of the rear view camera is chirping. Only when the car is started.
+István Tölgyesi you can try the capacitor approach or you can use a relay:

Relays are more available and you can pick it up at the auto part store
+Raymond Urias ..capacitor currently unavailable on Amazon..any other places to purchase?
15:06 "oh shiii" haha
Hi Raymond. Thanks for your time and your videos. It's very helpful and I was waiting for them for a long time.
Can you add European amazon links too? I don't know how to do it but I've seen other adding US and EU links. I'm from Italy and I'm not sure how to purchase the capacitor. Thanks.
I already installed the camera last year and after a few seconds it gets blurry. I checked it with constant power source and I have no problem with the signal. But I bought a camera with led and I have to connect it with reverse light. I think the capacitor would solve my problem (I read it on another old blog but I didn't know how to do it until you show up) thank you.
+Onisim Schipor I'm glad it helped. I unfortunately don't know how people link Amazon in different countries. Some people tell me the links and I add them in... But I found someone selling it on eBay UK for you:

Raymond Urias thanks. I'll try the auto store or electronic store based on some specs you left in another comment I read here. They must have it!
You mentioned that if I buy a relay from autozone I can do the same thing? would the relay do the same job as a capacitor to prevent the interference?
Relay is always the best choice
@@RaymondUrias so how would you wire the relay? The reverse signal would be the trigger to open the relay, and then would you choose a different power wire for the other lead and connect the "ground" to the camera?
@@Dylanz1994 ruclips.net/video/MNWNAC7kNUA/видео.html
Hi there,
I am wonder if you had some suggestions for me. I have a pioneer deck in my 2010 altima coupe. I bought my car from a dealership less than 1 year ago and the deck has worked fine until two days ago. My issue is that when I put my car into reverse, there's display but its black that's being displayed along with the regular white text "CAUTION, VIDEO MAY APEAR REVERSED." So, this leads me to my questions. Is the camera lens broken, or is this sinply a loose connection behind my deck?
After one year of successfully using your camera I would be hard pressed that a cable got loose. Most likely the camera is dead.
@@RaymondUrias so just replace the camera head at the back of the car would fix?

Hello, can you help me? I have a problem with the car camera, the light is on, but there is no video or image on the screen

Did you check all connections, Test 12v power, Test Ground?

@@Anashassan1981 I'm a bit confused what do you have your backup camera plugged into?
Hey Raymond! Hope you're doing great!
I've installed an after market reverse camera pretty similar ( if not identical to yours) .
The problem: when key is in 2nd position and car is put in reverse, everything's good. However, when starting up the car and putting it in R, the first 4- 5 second the image is great, but immediately the screen goes all fuzzy with burry lines and remains like that. Basically you can't see anything.
The car is a w212 2011.
Would this scenario fall under what you described here?
Many many thanks!!
Yes that is exactly the situation it falls under. Happened to me too until did what he did in this video

I have LED bulbs in the car. Can they cause streaks of the rearview camera?

Hey, I have installed a backup camera in my Nissan frontier. It has had rolling lines since I installed it. But 2 weeks later the camera no longer turns on going in reverse. It was slowly getting worse but now no longer shows... what I noticed is if I discount the power to the display and reconnect it will show the picture but that only works in reverse so obviously it's hooked up right it's just stopped working. I told the guy at the shop but he was in a hurry to leave and instead gave me a better quality camera for free but it also acts the same way, would relay help me?
Sounds like you need to run it off a relay:
ruclips.net/video/MNWNAC7kNUA/видео.html
I would also check the video connection
Raymond Urias I have doubled checked the video cable and it's good and clean, I cut my wiring for the camera and just strip the wires to bare copper and connected them. It still doesn't show up by itself in reverse. It's a rearview camera monitor in using, if I put the car in reverse and disconnect and reconnect power cable of the display monitor the picture shows up but if I do anything like turn on headlights, press brake pedal, turn on A/C, press the gas, the display will go crazy and turn off.
How come this problem came up 2 weeks after I installed it? You said something about "SAM" in the video. Could it be the cars SAM just taking longer to notice what I've connected and completly pulsed out my camera ? Like I said before I got a brand new shiny camera from the guy i bought the first one from and it works the same way as the old one. Gotta disconnect display and reconnect it then go in reverse and it will show display unless I do anything that affects the electrical system the display will shut off
Game Gods sounds like you have a dirty ground connection on you battery or you need a new filter on your alternator.
I have a toyota camry with an aftermarket sensor with camera. When I put the car in reverse 1 of 2 things happen. 1, the sensor keeps beeping as if I'm very close to something even when I'm not, sometimes with or without picture. Or 2, no noise with either picture or no picture. Just started about 3 days ago.
alexakaavant sounds like the camera is defective. Try another one and see if it continues
Raymond Urias thank you for your feedback. Will definitely look into getting one soon
Great vid. Too much chatter just my opinion. To each their own.
Speaking of feedback and noise

Tnx Raymond For prompt response, my other concern is that the long cable connecting my camera to my display unit outlet has an extra piece of wire hanging on the two sides. What do you advise I do with this extra piece of wire?
Just wrap it with Tessa tape
Raymond Urias, hello Raymond, am close to resolving the issue, as the picture quality is coming out better, but one last question, am I suppose to remove the existing reverse wire completely and replace it with the white wire from #86?

Very nice radio! Are your cameras shorting out? Are the connections tight and free of moisture? You shouldn't need the relay or capacitor for that year car
Do you attach the capacitor to the cable coming from the camera or the cable coming from the stereo?
From the camera. It goes on the camera power.
Raymond Urias i just saw that the cable coming from the camera has 3 wires. Black white and yellow ? Help
Is the same product both of them?

Hi Raymond..great videos!.
I need some help with my rear camera installation in my mb c300 2009. I have a black screen after finishing the installation. There are a few things I found out in my car before installing my rear camera 1) right passenger tail parking light bulb is off. The other parking tail parking light is ok. Do you think this issue on the parking light may cause the rear camera to not work?.
2) at the back of the command unit, there was not a green cable (video cable).
Any ideas you can share i would really appreciate. Thanks.
The rear camera kit came with a long rca video yellow cable. This cable has a red small cable. In your videos you don't mention the use of that small red. I read that red cable at each rca video cable is not needed. Right?
It doesn't sound like your radio is compatible. You need to have the navigation system if you want to pull off this install.
But you are in luck every Mercedes can be upgraded with this ruclips.net/video/fAoqfxtAdGA/видео.html
The red cable is a signal wire, not needed in your car

MrNedax a capacitor will fix your problem for sure. Unfortunately, I don't know how to read German and can't tell you which one of thoes red cables is equal to yellow. My guess is the one labeled 12v dc would connect to your tail light. The other would be equal to yellow.
thanks for reply, one 12v cable is ausgang( eng. output) the other one 12v eingang( eng.input) hope translate will help you to figure out?
MrNedax yellow should be 12 out.
Good news is if you get the capacitor installed backwards nothing will turn on then flip it and it will work, Current will flow only one way with the capacitor 😀

Also, can we use this capacitor if our camera is linked up the 12v constant fuse?

Mr. Raymond, I installed the wireless backup camera since then I've had a constant squeaking noise coming from my speakers, when I push the door lock button it stops briefly also when stepping on the gas pedal it stops at times? Could this be the problem with not having that capacitor installed?
That's interesting sounds like some engine noise is passing to the speakers. Check to see if any wires are loose behind the radio and or video cable. If you ran a double sided RCA (Yellow cable) and it had these two little red wires on it Make sure that the little red wire is not live and that is touching something.
