- Kassel, 19. Februar 2015: Ein altes Werbevideo von Henschel & Sohn Kassel vermutlich aus den 1950er-Jahren hat uns das Henschel-Museum in Kassel zur Verfügung gestellt. Der Titel des Filmes: Lokomotiven für Brasilien. Ein tolles Zeitdokument aus dem alten Kassel.
Kassel, February 19, 2015: An old promotional video by Henschel & Sohn Kassel, probably from the 1950s, was provided by the Henschel Museum in Kassel. The title of the film: Locomotives for Brazil. A great time document from the old Kassel.
Hammerloks, diese Beyer Garratts, eine äußerst interessante Konstruktion. Spanien hatte auch welche für ihre RENFE- Staatsbahnen und zwar die Baureihe 462.0401.
In Groß Britannien gab es auch welche! Sind ja auch schicke Maschinen!
Von wegen Video! Das ist ein klassischer, guter Film!

Sehr schön! Ich finde die Beyer-Garratts ziemlich hässlich, aber die waren im Einsatz äußerst tauglich und waren vor allem in Afrika (zumeist auf Schmalspurbahnen) so gut wie Standard. Sowohl im Vorbau wie auch im Tender waren Wassertanks wegen der langen Durststrecken untergebracht. Kann übrigens sein, dass Beyer-Peacock in London ein Kontor unterhielt, aber das Unternehmen selbst saß in Manchester.
Üblich nur solange genügend Wasser und Kohle oder Öl in den Vorratstank waren danach ließ das Reibung Gewicht stark nach und die Zugkraft auch
Diese Loks sind einfach nur geil! Mal schauen, ob ich für das alte Computerspiel "Railroad Tycoon 3" so eine Lok als Mod finde! Das Spiel ist zwar aus dem Jahr 2003, aber es erscheinen immer noch neue Mods!

R.F.N - Rede Ferroviária do Nordeste. Em 1952, foram entregues 6 locomotivas notação 4-8-2+2-8-4, matrículas 610 a 615, série de fabricação 6966-6969/
7136-7137. Deram fim em todas exceto a n. 612 que encontra-se no Museu do Trem em Recife, Pernambuco.
É triste que tenhamos que saber sobre estas maravilhas através da mídia alemã de décadas atrás

Em que ano foi isso?
Segundo Flavio R. Cavalcanti "embora quatro locomotivas Garrat 4-8-2+2-8-4 tenham sido encomendadas à Beyer Peacock pela GWBR antes da II Guerra Mundial, elas acabaram sendo construídas no pós guerra pela Henschel & Sohn, em número de seis, e entregues em 1952 à RFN".

Die Great Western of Brazil Railway erhielt 1952 sechs 2D1-1D2 Garratts von Henschel (konstruktion Beyer-Peacock). Davon ist noch eine erhalten.

Auch hier in Australien waren diese Garretts eingesetzt und es gibt sogar eine sehr schön restaurierte und einsatzfähige loco von der ich auch ein HO Modell besitze (www.eurekamodels.com.au). Und letztes Jahr bin ich sogar bei einer Touristenfahrt dabei gewesen.....eine riesige loco mit irren sound durch die beiden versetzt laufenden Antriebe. Suche einfach NSWGR AD60.

@@budgiedeluxe The loco design is British (Beyer Barratt) but the video is the German company Henschel fabricating them (in licence, I guess) and shipping this example to Brazil.
Was ich hier ständig auf´s Neue - mir bislang völlig unbekannte - Historie entdecke ist immer wieder faszinierend...
...einmal mit Dampflok(s) gucken angefangen entdecke ich seit dem ein Highlight nach dem anderen und kann kaum noch aufhören vor Begeisterung!
Angefangen bei Loks, weiter zu Dampfloks, über Dampf-Lkw und und und... - jemand, der wie ich fasziniert und begeistert von alter / historischer Technik ist, findet da kaum noch ein Ende...
Hier wird tagtäglich tonnenweise (wie der Ami es auszudrücken pflegt) Müll in Videoform hochgeladen, der größtenteils nicht einmal das Anklicken der Vorschaubilder lohnt, aber *solches* Videomaterial wie *das* hier gehört für mich zu den echten *Juwelen* unter den Tausenden (Hunderttausenden? - Millionen?) von Filmchen und Filmen, allein schon nur auf RUclips (über weitere Plattformen dieser Art möchte ich erst gar nicht nachdenken).
Absolut *erste Sahne* - und gerne *mehr* d a v o n !

Fue un gran honor para mí visitar esa fábrica el 2009, esta ubicada en Kassel, actualmente propiedad de reinmethal.
Ahí fabricaron el MARDER que chile posee.

There is a bit of a renaissance of steam trains going on in the US. They are used as tourist rides, but the narrow gauge steam train in Durango, Colorado has a full machine shop where they machine all new parts to restore newly acquired steam locomotives and to maintain the ones they already have. These trains are coal-fired, as well. If you like steam trains, you will love Durango, Colorado.
?!? There may be a renaissance (Big Boy etc.) but your example has been in service for 138 continuous years lol hardly a Renaissance! Try again next time you jot down a thought, your premise was a RENAISSANCE... NEW activity.
@@DoctorShocktor So,......the Durango train was ALWAYS used to haul tourists, instead of ore? It was NOT in continuous service, but was sold several times and finally ended up as a tourist attraction. What, you couldn't find Google on the Internet?
If you visit Germany go to the loco works at Meiningen where they do the same except these are full-size standard gauge steam locos. The works has built some new narrow-gauge locos recently. In Wales the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways' works at Boston Lodge (in business since 1835) is currently building a new Fairlie articulated loco for their two-foot gauge lines. In England the A1 steam loco trust completed the A1 class Pacific Tornado in 2008 - which as well as tourist trains on the main line has also pulled service trains on at least one special occasion - and the trust is currently building the P2 class 2-8-2 Prince of Wales.

the narration says "im auftrag der Beyer Peacock" so basicaly it was a licenced build.. it was built in the early 50's so either production facilities in the UK were no longer available or it was licenced as part of the war repair payment scheme...

I wholeheartedly disagree. german locomotives are, in my opinion, the most beautiful ones. Of course that's just my point of view, but... why do you think they're ugly?
Jup. We build some of the ugliest engines in the world (BR52 with 2'2'T30 Wannentender). But in this case we are innocent - licence build

@@m8die319 In reality those are not a German design. Henschel built those Garratts under licence from Beyer - Peacock, they are a British design.
