Very good information about the Queen Anne dance floor. I have heard similar comments. It was a good idea to request more ballroom music. Most people seem to prefer it.
We where on board and enjoyed the excellent Ballroom lessons given. just wished the orchestra in the evening would pick up on the dances we had just been taught so we could try them out more. But great sound and very enjoyable
Cunard's management seem keen to get away from ballroom/latin to attract a "younger crowd". We can dance latin/ballroom to 80%+ of disco numbers, or disco using small latin steps rather than standing shaking ourselves or head butting into mid air. I know I'm repeating myself; floor looks fine to me, we've quickstepped on 3m x 3m postage stamps! Just takes Cunard to provide music. Another good video, thanks.
*** note added 7/6/2024: The dance situation described in this video has improved significantly in a report in Facebook, by Michael Morrison 5 days after we left the ship. While onboard, we felt our suggestions to the musicians and the entertainment director were rapidly responded to positively and efforts were made to bring back more ballroom dance music. They have been to this channel and played our favorite songs which we appreciated. Dancers have to speak up! Go Cunard go!
@@pedrorodriguezmartin We agree. There is no royalty glamour, art or tradition displayed on the Queen Anne. A generic new cruise ship. Hopefully it is work in progress to earn its name as a Queen.
Hi Tony, Do you recall the title of a swing song that was used in Zumba classes on Queen Anne? Apparently they used the same music each day. Someone on Cruise Critic is asking.
Just been on QM2 and it seems that they have cut back drastically on using the Queens room for ballroom and using it more for 'party nights' No afternoon tea dance. No sequence dance sessions. If this is becoming the norm, we won't be cruising Cunard again,
Hi Geoff, thanks for your info. Which QM2 cruise was it? Please tell the number of nights versus the number of Motown plus party nights? two recent QE cruises of 5 to 10 days and a QM2 TransAtlantic each had one party night and one Motown evening. We accepted that as diversity. Queen Anne started having more party evenings and using the Queens Room as substitute for the theater. We and others lost no time to talk to the Entertainment Director on day 3 of the voyage, which may have led to more ballroom sessions as accomodation.
@@tonymariadance Hi Tony. This was 7 nights to Norway. I kept all the daily programs except one. Of the 6 I have, 3 are party nights, 2 are the gala nights which was ballroom dancing. 1 was a Movie night, which was I would say half and half. I I cant remember what the 7th night was.
@@Geoff.Turner Thanks for the details. I can see now Queen Anne offered more ballroom dancing than the QM2 by having 3 Tea Dances in our similar 7 nights Norway cruise. For example, its second day with party theme offered both an 1 hour Tea Dance and a 45' ballroom session by the Wave Duo band, before the two 45' sessions of party dances by the Overture band later that evening. The QM2 having more party nights than before may be a Cunard level decision. However, the QA example did offer the possibility of cruisers asking for 3 Tea Dances over 7 days and upgrading previous prerecorded sessions to live ballroom music sessions. IMO, dancers will need to make their voices heard early while on a cruise. To us, a decisive benefit of the QA over the QM2 was the penetrating digital sound system of the QA. Dancing to the prerecorded music of the QA is something worth experiencing. The quality of the music has influenced our decision of whether a given dance video will be posted to RUclips. Many QM2 videos did not cut it.
Thank you for your review. It was a delight to meet the two of you on the QM2. Your review of the Queen Anne is very helpful.
Thank you for your info about ballroom dancing. We appreciate it a lot. Keep going on. 💃👠

I heard the same thing. Fewer dance hosts, more party nights

Sorry. Do not remember, but if someone has a short video of the zumba class, that can identify the song.
