There is before Gary and after Gary... For those of us who get it, we can listen over and over to this music throughout our lives, it never ever gets old, it is ALWAYS fresh, new and exciting. It provides the soundtrack to our lives and speaks to us with different voices at different times depending on what we need. The sound activates us, makes us sad, makes us vibrate and gives us pleasure. You cannot explain it to someone who has not been exposed (infected?). Unless you have spent hours on a Saturday night alone in front of a mirror in your parents basement with the lights off and a flashlight for a microphone screaming "Death Death Death Until The Sun Cries Morning", there is no need to go any further...
One of the only songs I can put on repeat 10 times and never bore of it so many great versions /remixes only other to compare would be John foxx underpass
Agreed, I was absolutely blown away by how good his live performances are. His older songs are 40+ years old now, but he still performs them with passion and energy, and they sound absolutely incredible, fresher sounding than ever.
That was magical - A great song stands the test of time - David Bowie did not like Gary Numan because his ego thought Gary was some sort of copycat - Gary was a huge fan of Bowie and yes he was inspired by Bowie - But he was never a copycat - He was was at the forefront of electronic synthesizer rock - As a kid at school when this song hit the charts then it blew me away and now over four decades later it still stands the test of time.

Loving the heavier sound. I've always thought those quiet 'conversational' segments where creative genius. In the original version they were a subtle transition, in this version they're a great juxtiposition. Brilliant!
I first saw him at Hammersmith Odeon when I was 14, my first concert. I'm glad to say I was at this concert the sound was great but even better was the crowd singing along and chanting wo woa woa...along with the synthetic. Great gig
It is a rare treat indeed when Gary plays his classics such as Cars and Are Friends Electric. He rarely performs the classics, as he mainly focuses on current stuff.
Actually, I just tried to hit the buy button using paypal and the redirect ends up at a dead URL. Gary, you should let them know.. you're losing some sales I think.
I pumped it up the other day after getting a new EQ and it made my homemade speaker boxes come alive. I have 4 amps, the new one is going to shock the neighbours if I let it pump. I might save it for when I leave and then move out 😁🔊
Some of the early tracks in his career including this one, Cars, Down in The Park, have a sound that resonates in most people and draws on the emotions..as it did then it still does so today..Numan is unfairly underrated as a pioneer of the electronic synth music..
Loved this as a single lad. Then got me girlfriend into it too. Then we had it as ‘our’ wedding dance song June 21 1980 Richmond North Yorkshire, 43 year anniversary next month 🥰

Joseph Carelli yes he was born in 1958 same year as Madonna. Must’ve been a good year for ageless pop stars....
You were so lucky to have seen him back then:)
Yes, friends are Electric!
Woke up pissy,. Put this on...now I'm dancing around with a smile..thank you Gary and guys..
Listen to this with headphones on. Absolutely class! Work of genius
How did this song get even better? EPIC
Such stage presence!
I didn’t think the original could get better but this live version…WOW
TUNE ! The first song I ever bought with my pocket money when I was little xxx
Dr. Stephen
Where have you been all my life?

Gotcha😉
Still nice to meet a beautiful soul like yourself.
Yeah buddy...those who get it love it.
Mr. Numan you are a real genius!
His concerts are awesome the sound live is pristine.
He's a genius and a amazing person.. One of God's chosen ones
Agreed, I was absolutely blown away by how good his live performances are. His older songs are 40+ years old now, but he still performs them with passion and energy, and they sound absolutely incredible, fresher sounding than ever.
Yes in Los Angeles live.... Magical!! Really.... Magic..
Theater music was music , now shit stuff or are we realy old?
My friend is electric
This is like yesterday. First hearing in my lovely car, a '72 Simca 1501 with some friends, 2 drunk in the trunk - never forget :)
Gary you have the best SMILE I have EVER SEEN . Each time you smile when you are singing OMG , 🙏🙏it brings me such joy and happiness in an instant 😀✌️ TY for your gift of music and sharing it with this world 💯✌️
Insanely classic song, that's rocks as well today as it did then! Timeless memory.
Brilliant artist, absolutely love Gary Numan. Remember when this song came out in 79 and 45 years later I'm still listening & loving it. Gary is still sounding phenomenal! Keep on rocking Gary❤❤❤❤
Brilliant...my mind is still blown!!!
As fresh now as it was 40 years ago. Bravo!
What a nice man. He loves it, we love it.
I just turned 50. I still do "the robot" to this song.☺
I'm 58.. Gary Numan helped me prevent wrinkles around my lips.. he never smiled in those days.. nor did I - thanks to you Gary, no need for botox.. just being 'cool' is enough 🙂 This song meant everything to me.
Absolute Classic song. Still an amazing performance all these years later.
Discovered it in Need For Speed Carbon when i was little. 😎
As a young Boy i ran to the Record Store to get Gary Numan Live Living Ornaments....great Music, best Time of my Life
This song is just astonishingly good live. The guitars go right through you, the synths are amazing, and the contrast between the loud and quiet parts of the song is something else. The recorded version sounds strangely dead after experiencing this. He's one of the best live performers I've ever seen.
Saw Numan twice on the last tour. Phenomenal both times and Persia was brilliant at the last concert.
This duet turned it into a love song
The more I listen to this the better it gets , and I have been listening to it from day one
It's like wine, the older you get.....😍
Numan, at the top of his game.
Still rocking when I'm 70? YES
I grown up listening to this song... Today I'm 25 years old and can't stop listening this masterpiece... It's kind simple and at same time so incredible... Studio version is awesome, but man, this Live OMG... What a voice, what a vibe... Wish I was there
Young man your listening to 40 years of practice, perfection and real magic.... Supernatural magic!!! I know....I am a high wizard.....
Damn, he looks like he was having the time of his life. But when you’re signing a great song with a killer band behind you, to an appreciative audience, how could you not be?
Loving the heavier sound. I've always thought those quiet 'conversational' segments where creative genius. In the original version they were a subtle transition, in this version they're a great juxtiposition. Brilliant!
I could hear the words more clearly in this version.
Saw him live back in 1980. Still one of the best concerts I've ever seen.
Legend ❤❤❤❤❤
I first saw him at Hammersmith Odeon when I was 14, my first concert. I'm glad to say I was at this concert the sound was great but even better was the crowd singing along and chanting wo woa woa...along with the synthetic. Great gig
Synth
It is a rare treat indeed when Gary plays his classics such as Cars and Are Friends Electric.
He rarely performs the classics, as he mainly focuses on current stuff.
Amazing.... this never gets old!..... dancing in my chair in an empty office😊
Gary Numan fans are the best. They're one with him.
Oh please bork
I just bought the cd/dvd set from Gary's web site. In a couple of weeks, my neighbors are going to find out what a $7k system sounds like.
Actually, I just tried to hit the buy button using paypal and the redirect ends up at a dead URL. Gary, you should let them know.. you're losing some sales I think.
Show your neighbors the business regardless. I recommend 'Bog' by the Wicked Tinkers. Do. It.
Make your neighbors hate you. Great idea. Oh, and, peace!!
I pumped it up the other day after getting a new EQ and it made my homemade speaker boxes come alive. I have 4 amps, the new one is going to shock the neighbours if I let it pump. I might save it for when I leave and then move out 😁🔊
Yeah make em suffer
I’m 58. Love AC/DC. Beatles were gods. love good electronic. But this was fkn Rock 🤟
Some of the early tracks in his career including this one, Cars, Down in The Park, have a sound that resonates in most people and draws on the emotions..as it did then it still does so today..Numan is unfairly underrated as a pioneer of the electronic synth music..
I ENVY THOSE PEOPLE I ENVY THEM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!
These are Gary Numan’s best live versions, ever! 🙂
You the man Gary 👨
Loved this as a single lad. Then got me girlfriend into it too.
Then we had it as ‘our’ wedding dance song June 21 1980 Richmond North Yorkshire,
43 year anniversary next month 🥰
I think I love Gary Numan because he never sold out. He never tried to be the next big pop star. He's as pure and as weird as he was in 1980. Love that.
Gary is great..if you want to see a great concert ..go see Gary Numan..
Quality this bloke...ALWAYS... HE NEVER mails it in
One of the greatest comebacks ever. Never stop believing.
Ive been listening to Gary since i was in the womb... And ill continue to listen to him for years to the grave! (:❤
Such great - and timeless- music. I love to see Gary in his recent years being so happy. It makes me enjoy the music all the more when he breaks into a big grin. For anyone too young to remember, he was non emotional on stage for years.
Pure Class. End of.
