    His voice is stronger, more nuanced, perfect. So many rockers lose their range and clarity. He is fantastic.

    This epic synth line still cuts glass. The goosebumps still there after 40 years, clearly one of the better synth lines ever put together.

      It's as iconic as the opening bars of Beethoven's 5th symphony: repeats throughout. Same with the bassline. Two great rhythms in one.

    Who ever mixed that is a genius. The bass dropped low. The synth. One of the best live versions of any song I have ever heard. Blown away 😮😮😮😮😮😮

      Agreed, this whole concert was just incredible IMO, it was largely responsible for my growing appreciation of Gary Numan. The original versions were great, but some of them had a more minimalist, restrained sound to them that was more in keeping with that burgeoning era of electronic music. These versions are more dynamic, they have more edge to them. I totally get that many people were prefer the originals, and that's fine, but me personally, these are definitive.

    A timeless classic, it's hard to believe that next year Cars will be 40 years old. Ffff I'm getting old I bought it in 1979 as a single .when it was released in the UK. It still sounds good though. Glad to see Gary still plays it live.

      @@markcheetah4960 nah I think it might actually have been re-recorded in the studio. Not to say that he doesn't sound amazing live (I saw him just over a week ago!), but these recordings sound a bit too polished. I don't really care either way, still love this.

    Gary Newman is fucking amazing I am 52 years old from Detroit Michigan. I’ve been following him since the cars made it on the radio. He’s totally changed. The mind with his concept of synthesizers now he thanks outside the box and makes it more aggressive music with guitars. He’s so progressive and amazing he influenced, my life in such an amazing way, I love him

    The first time I met Cars in GTA: Vice City at the age of 6-7 (15-16 years ago) and now I unerstand that I do love such music

    I grew up on this song. This was the first song that turned me on to synth Gary Newman has always been the greatest in this category to me and this is a kick ass version. Love you, Gary thank you.

    This song always had such momentum, but when they drop the bass line by two octaves it sounds like some great leviathan lifting off the sea floor. Absolutely incredible.

    What a great time in music. The B52s had just come out, the Ramones were killing, Plasmatics were selling records and this simple song "Cars" was fantastic and memorable. Glad to see he's still out and about.

    Saved to buy and teach myself to play a Moog in JrHS in 79 after hearing his magical music.
    He is the godfather of electronic music.
    I see him in concert everytime he performs in SoCal. Just saw him in Pomona a few weeks ago.

    You know what's crazy I'm only 27 but my dad was always playing Gary Numan all the time and constantly when I was growing up and still till this day I'll listen and there's no doubt I'll carry on listening even when I'm in my 60s/70s 😂

    A must see and best live performance of Cars: NIN backing Newman as their special appearance w/ Trent on tambourine -still under my skin. Newman in an interview spoke of having Aspergers and how it contributed to his writing. So damn humble, present and still everyone’s favorite resident alien.

    People today, still hear this and say: "oh it's that great song from the 80s"...not gonna lie, sometime around 2002 I heard this amazing song from an Apple iTunes (punk/synth rock) list recommendation with epic music from the 80s. It opened my door to the wonders of Gary Numan. I only heard this song on the radio when it came out (I was a baby two years old) maybe heard it again once or twice during my childhood. I'm glad I caught onto it, bought many Gary's albums because of it!! ❤❤
