I don't know if this is an academy thing, but if you end up with another desperate Jovian onslaught, I would love to see at least one major deathball v deathball battle. (maybe as the mission sprawls further, the need to check and double check and peer review bogs the Academy down at decisive moments, allowing some alien ships to congregate vs something like initiative doing it on purpose so that they have a big media moment when they win). It was cool seeing you catch almost all of them last time by the skin of your teeth, but it'd be interesting/exciting to see you allow a threat and then go up against it in a way where the action is a lot more chaotic, the outcome is a little bit less certain, and the risks are huge.
    Just a thought!

I like very much your new marines trasports and colony ships: I think they are much in line with the logic of the academy to protecting they operatives, by not sending them in space with a scientific vessel armoured only with PD.
Also I think that in terms of roleplay you should upgrade the technology level of your armies at least at 5. You know so when you have "academic debates" in other countries your army has the most advanced scientific equipment to bring at those scientific debates...

  • @fgpraxis4463

Inertial Confinement Terawatt Fusion Reactor III (inertial fusion engine mk7) is the real thing that makes the Daedalus shine, in fact such a good engine is what the Firefly or other drives are missing to shine too. Add some exotic radiators and there you have the quite cheap 3000kps Delta-V and good acceleration Titans/Dreads/Lancers/Marines Cruisers/Nuke Corvettes, they can quickly catch/dodge any Alien fleet.
Nice job getting it in the mid 2035. I did the same but i'm 4 years behind for the map painting/supernations shenanigans.
Btw i didn't research any laser batteries, so my BattleStations have 2 adv. heavy plasma batteries + point defense phasers. 3 BS per space base all 3 at the bottom, all space bases are T3, space bases are the real weak spot, T2 or T3 ground bases are very good at defending themselves with 2 or 4 Defense Layer imo, especially because aliens only send one ship to attack ground bases and attack rating of ground defenses is higher than attack rating of space defenses.
Another thing : Nuke Corvette are quicker and cheaper than Marines Ships to deal with Aliens ground bases, they are quite suicide ship but not that much because the attacker hit first and a nuke has 5-10% chance to be intercepted, it's insta kill 90-95% chances no need to wait 8 days, in the end i lost one corvette, aliens lost 6 mining bases in 6 months. (put 1 1 1 armor on the corvette for some reasons)
Last thing : Jupiter moons are so good, it's the only place i have T3 mines.
Thanks for the episode ! always very happy to see the valuable and entertaining upload.

With the update to tech unlocks, I find it no longer a good idea to count on the Daedalus torch. In fact, antimatter engines are currently the most reliable ones to get, and while not quite as performant as the Daedalus (which is simply best-in-slot for most situations), they are more than sufficient to power a fleet that can operate throughout the Solar System. And on top of that, much more reliable to unlock than any of the good fusion torch drives.

If you cant get a space station around mars you can build chemical rocket ships on the surface as weak mass defenders, you just need high thrust engines. Then once you have a low delta v high thrust fleet make the low orbit orbital station and move them until it can finish defensive batteries and ship docks. The ships will need like 0 armor but they can be glass cannons or paper tigers with lots of nukes so they look scary to the AI.

I want to offer an alternative for crippling the Protectorate and Servants that worked very well for me (actually worked well on everyone). Rather than deny them assets in space, deny them the MC to maintain those assets instead. Once this is accomplished, the income of those factions will fall into the negative and when their cash reserves dry up, you go onto phase two. Phase two is using hostile takeover strip all organizations off of them that cost money to attach to their councilors. They won't be able to reattach them. Step three (less applicable here) is to then murder all their councilors to detach any orgs that you can't steal but are still attached to the councilors (usually this included the faction orgs from tech).
The net result is you end up with a field of councilors arrayed against you that are so badly neutered that they no long pose a threat. The difficulty curve from super-state population is such that by the time a state has about 2 billion population, the target factions just can't get anything done against you. If the game goes long, another cycle of assassinations to prevent them from training up good councilors over time will solve that problem.

Seeing the mining prospects around Jupiter and Saturn makes me realize how much scarier the game could be if the AI were better at space expansion. Maybe the Servants could prioritize spamming space bases and industrialization, since the aliens will permit it, and having them build a bigger economy than you in space and spam ships against you would be a significant threat.

    • @PerunGamingAU

I have a feeling this will be the last playthrough of Terra Invicta, which is a shame. The Initiative would make an excellent evil/dystopian playthrough. They are the only faction who's goals run counter to every other faction (Exodus wants to take a large chunk of humanity out into space, thus removing them from the influence of the Illuminati, and the Initiative/Illuminati want to control EVERYTHING).
Additionally, a dystopian playthrough is much, much harder than a utopian playthrough. The game is weighted against it, heavily (developer bias, perhaps).

They need to down the effects of the economic priority. The numbers are just absurd (both in the rates and absolute) and also increase the science snowballing even more.
Also, an interesting idea I saw is that instead of habs increasing in MC cost the first one is very expensive and the later ones smaller. This would make locking down all the sites on the moon and Mars impossible. It also fits thematically fit as habs become more independent as they grow. Less important sites could then be turned into automated mines, which makes that tech more used. There is a mod that does just that, but I haven't tried it yet.

The reason Bolivia is the president of the (fictional) South American Union is that they host the (real) South American Parliament of the (also real) Union of South American Nations, and the fictional one's flag is the same as the (real) Union of South American Nation's one. However, the (real) Union of South American Nations shrunk in 2018-2020, when Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay suspended their membership and/or left. Now the ones remaining are Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and Venezuela.

Pretty sure there are transitive claims. So if you absorb countries into your union, you get their claims too. Seen examples of that multiple times. I think you even get claims added to countries you have absorbed

Pursuit engagements should result in chaotic resultant overall vector... How do you burn 300kps dv in a pursuit and stay in the same orbit, you should be on a wild escape trajectory somewhere towards Epsilon Eridani. Also they should take into account cruise acceleration of the fleet to be able to actually catch up early if you start close.

Is it possible to target and tactically disable power modules on stations? That way for large T3 alien stations you could instead target the reactors and disable several defense modules at a time instead of targeting each one by one.

What is the reason for science lab and outpost kits? One can use 1mc ship with platform kit and nose laser instead. Immediately drop second fusion pile and space dock after platform is started. Dock construction is 30 days and then 16 days for probe scans Vs 28 days mobile science lab scan provided that the fleet is not intercepted. Does the ability to drop outpost 18 days earlier is that important? Smaller ship usually can get much more DV as well without hydron trap. It seems to me that mobile science lab is viable for asteroids only.

For example, if the servants were struggling with a particular resource and you made a station custom designed to cost as much of that resource as possible with the aim to give it to them and cripple their resources, would they accept the trade?

It's interesting, in my Resistance game the Servants put all their ships into Luna orbit for some reason and never bothered me at all (not sure if they bugged out, I'd say they probably did, but serves them right) whereas in my Academy game at one point they just started using tiny ships with one nuclear missile launcher and instantly wiped out half my Mars bases before I could get a ship to Mars to hunt them down.
It's kind of stupid if you ask me that a single nuclear missile launcher instantly destroys a base even if you have multiple battlestations and layered defense arrays... or is that a bug? Because it seems to me that the UV Phasers with their few hundred km of range should be capable of shooting down a few pesky missiles, nuclear or not...
Needless to say the Servants... "agreed"... to forfeit *all* their space assets with this act and a lot of Servants took the vacuum temperature challenge.

it's just so slow....I do use it, but only on small nations that have built max MC and will later be absorbed. Kazakhstan for example was 100% funding for years and is a key reason as to why I get so much money from the caliphate
for mega nations I prefer to get their economies configured to do thinks like generate 10k science per month. which is equivalent to 100 research campuses worth of saved upkeep and MC
