FIRST 90 EVENT FOR MY 5YO HORSE | Pontispool Eventing

- Today it is Robbie's first 90cm. Robbie has done two 80cm events and it's now time to step up a level. Work has been going on in the background to make him a little rounder into a fence with a bitting change and its worked as he is jumping really well.
The course has a fair few questions and hopefully 5yo Robbie will be able to step up the level with confidence. Dressage is still a work in progress but he has a great attitude and he tries really hard.
We are a small channel, liking and subscribing really helps us out and we try to respond to every comment. We do not have the reach of bigger channels but try to keep putting out content which people find interesting. We are just not into doing click bait titles, which doesn't help us either with the RUclips algorithm as we are pretty low drama people!
We are two friends who love horses, love eventing and try to share the journey as it happens.

Hello from Australia. Only five and just coping with the atmosphere is a good result.
He is a nice person 🐴😊 Well done (-: Marion 🎉
Congratulations 🎉well done Robbie and rider ❤
Thank you! 😀
Fab result well done 👏👏👏
Thank you! 😊
Amazing well done both you and Robbie sorry if that’s not how you spell his name
Thank you I was so chuffed with the little guy
Well done and well ridden. Horse is awesome.
Thank you - he is such a lovely chap
What a brilliant day out. 4th. What a star⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you so much for taking us with you (and the mud monster) 😂
He does love mud, food and being told he is good!
That scary log actually looked a bit intimidating. The drop with not much landing area would have worried me.
Robbie is a super youngster.
I thought it was a lot especially as the 100 skirted round edge and just jumped two skinnies! Nice that he coped and he got it quickly.
Very well done. Robbie is maturing in every sense with each outing. Sorry the BE events etc are getting so political. Good luck for the next event.
Thanks - will see how the chat goes tomorrow.
What a star Robbie is!
Thank you he has turned out great
Well done you two. ❤❤🐴🐴
So nice to see how well he's progressing! Well done :)
Yes, if you watch his videos from last year he is barely recognisable
5 4 3 2 1 ..... Wake up Robbie time for XC! Lol, he seems so laid back at events and has such a sweet expression on his face as he goes round.
He is very chilled. Robbie is a horse who saves his energy!
Love Robbie, he's such a sweetheart, very keen bean on the cross country! And he got a rosette! 🎉
Tbh he has outperformed Insey this year…. Much more consistent!
super result, what a good boy and you so understand about not rushing a baby. Confidence is built through trust and not the result, but good job you had your watch on. totally agree about the BE calendar we have lost so many local events in the South. So love your content, you relate to a majority of us and we all look 'normal' which is far and few between nowadays, thank you 👏
Thanks - we kind of vlog for that reason as we are so ordinary but obsessed by horses and just love eventing.
What a sweet boy he is bless him. You make it look a lot easier than I'm sure it is with your experience but he looks like he is keen to please and an honest boy xx
He does want to please unless it involves mud
Just found your channel! Love your videos and look forward to following you and your horses xx
Yay! Thank you!
Just found this channel, too. YAY!
What a wonderful horse! Very trusting of you and happy to do his job.
Thank you. He is a very different horse to last year when you watch. He has become really confident and it’s actually due to Warwick Schiller. I love his training methods of building a relationship and helping horses to find relaxation. From there they just blossom. It’s a very different method to anything and it was a bit weird at first on an eventer as you are just standing by the thing which makes them worried and I spent maybe 2 weeks just trying to stand by it. Until one day he decided it wasn’t so bad and touched it with his nose. The babies we have now have all done this kind of thing since day one so they are much more nosey, happy to explore and try without worry.
@@theeventingjourney232 Thanks for sharing! I’m not familiar with him but my own trainer is very patient with youngsters and has taught me to take it slow with my young horse and give him plenty of time to mentally process things before attempting to do them.
I’m in the US, and it’s very interesting to hear about the status of BE and the politics. Feel free to share more, I watch other UK bloggers and have heard no mention. But don’t get yourself into hot water!
The calendar in the South West is poor. I know BE are trying to solve the problems from losing events. I want BE to work! I am a very vested member but I also run the babies unaffiliated….. lots of different reasons why but a big one is the events tend to be closer and no membership fee for them.
@@theeventingjourney232 I’m in the US and I believe our recognized vs unrecognized events are similar. I’m just doing the unrecognized at the very low levels with my young horse. Cheaper and closer.
You did very well with your young horse, congratulations!
Thank you I was very pleased with him
Well done ,huge congratulations to you all.❤❤❤
Thanks so much
He’s coming along nicely for a youngster Lucy you are doing a great job with him 🤩
Thanks - his flatwork will take time but he really has taken to jumping .
That was a really good, educational round for Robbie. Ruddy brilliant 👍
I was a bit worried but he was always on it
Well done! I love him! What a lovely attitude he has, just takes everything in his stride. Brilliant job! x
He is a bit of a goofy chap - OBSESSED with food. He is very sweet and really tries hard.
Robby is a lovely horse and seems to really enjoy his job! And you are a great rider! Huge congratulations to both of you.❤❤😊
Thank you so much!
good comments about the south west calender of events, it's so important that there is progression through events.
It’s a real struggle for novices at the moment and I work for an employer so it’s less flexible and costly with annual leave.
What a great bonus result 👏
I was chuffed
Aww what a lovey horse Robbie is. He did a nice steady test and showjumping round and he jumped well on the cross country. He looks such a genuine type. The fourth place was the icing on the cake. Another star 🌟 in the making ❤
He is a special boy - he will be a really lovely 6yo as will be so much stronger.
Fabulous 👌💜🐎
Thanks
Brilliant well done! I love watching him improve every time. He doesn't fling his head up as much out XC than he does SJ!
It’s all in the balance. He is naturally a bit long in his frame so finds it harder in a more compact canter whereas xc he can be a bit longer. He will keep improving as he finds it easier. My fun horse as Insey is a nutter and can’t do half the things I do on him!
@@theeventingjourney232 ah makes sense. Will you get another to bring on once he's sold?
So much potential! What a good boy. You both did great!
Loved this vid! ❤
Hope you had a fantastic day 😊
New subscriber;) 😊
I think when they do well it’s just wonderful. There are a lot of bad days so need to make the most of it when it’s good.
It is always good for riders in general to keep in mind one's own body weight and horse's wellbeing that you ride. i had to do it when i was into competitive equestrian sports is lose weight to get better performances out of my horse. I had needed to lose 20 pounds , dropped from 140 to 120 and it made all the difference.
Thanks for your polite way of suggesting I lose weight. It’s a tricky situation as I am on a tonne of drugs due to cancer which has changed my body significantly. I used to have no belly fat but now I do. I am not particularly happy about it but prioritise being fit as would have to starve myself now to get any result with body fat. Unlike most vloggers who event, I am not in my 20/30s and I work full time.
