Birds - Panasonic GX80/GX85 sample video footage (colour corrected in DaVinci Resolve)

I needed a tiny mirrorless camera capable of shooting 4K for a couple of specific tasks. One of the cameras that was in the running was the Panasonic GX80 (GX85 in the US). One just happened to pop up at the right price while I was still researching, so I decided to give it a try.

Early tests are very pleasing. These were just a few samples shot in 4K using the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8VR with the Viltrox Nikon F to Micro Four Thirds adapter (not the speed booster). In Cinelike D (see further down the description for how).

The clips were shot in 4K but edited in and exported from a 1080p timeline - a couple of clips were scaled up to recompose. To colour correct, I shot a separate clip of the X-Rite ColorChecker Video and adjusted it in DaVinci Resolve to create a grade. Then, I just applied that grade to the other clips, tweaking the contrast as necessary for each one.
Overall, it's still an impressive little camera, especially for what you can find one for these days, and once you do the Cinelike D hack, it's fantastic to correct and work with in Resolve.

Ok, don't laugh, haha. This is with the Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8VR and the Viltrox NF-M43 lens adapter (that's the one that's not a speed booster). I have their NF-M43X 0.71x speed booster adapter, too, but haven't given it a good workout yet. :)
