I was much older when i realized this too. I was 8 in 85’. This cartoon was one of many i wished so much to know when exactly it was on and more of it. Saturday mornings for me, was hit or miss, depending on plans set by my buddies and i Fridays after school. So outside at the first door knock! I tell my 13 yr old that he can never appreciate, knowing whats on, when, where, and its next airing. I remember having these wishes, were as foreign to me as our “ moon “!
Thanks for sharing, Shane! There was something special about those Saturday mornings ... and having to BE THERE when it aired or you'd need to wait an entire week to see it again. And yeah, as great as our cartoons were, there was nothing like getting that knock at the door and heading out on the bike for HOURS with your buddies. THAT'S what I miss most. Thanks for watching and dropping a comment. Much appreciated 🙏
Some years back, I managed to get DVDs with the “Rock N Wrestling” complete set on it from eBay. It’s your best bet to get movies that don’t have official releases. I got other TV or movie gems that way.
Those old WWF Wrestling Superstars were larger than life. They were such amazing personalities to admire as a youngster. My mother's favorite show was Days of Our Lives. Thanks for the dose of nostalgia, Jimmy! How's the weather up there?
They really were. I remember being in absolute awe of them! Ahhhh ... Days of Our Lives. Iconic daytime TV. Things are pretty nice up here! Turning into a semi-warm and enjoyable Spring ... before the summer rain arrives :/ Hope all is well by you!
My grandmother watched Days of Our Lives. She had a crush on A Martinez. I also remember Q from Star Trek TNG being on that show. (John DeLancie) It's amazing what you remember as a kid.
I know Brad Garrett best as the voice of Trypticon from the third season of the original Transformers series. One of my favorite characters from that season. Almost got the original figure for Christmas as a kid.
There are a few of these actors that did voices for Transformers over the years. Neil Ross was Springer (and Shipwreck on GI Joe). Charlie Adler was Starscream in the Bay films. Iron Shiek was also Sky Lynx and the voice of Andre was one of the Predacons I think.
One of my favorite cartoons of the era. Amazing that none of the real wrestlers voiced any of the characters. Junkyard Dog was my favorite. Maybe because he lived in the junkyard and made some cool vehicles and inventions.
I was one of the few kids that knew Uncle Phil was Shredder and JYD. My cousin Jeff pointed it out to us in the credits back in the 80's. No idea that Rays brother was Hulk! Great content
Wow Dark Shadows, Krang AND Shredder connections, Smurfs, Transformers, Back to the Future, & of course Everyone Loves Raymond. Funny story about Brad Garrett - I always thought he reminded me of Jackie Gleason from The Honeymooners & then one day I saw a movie of him playing Jackie Gleason & thought damn... I make a great casting director! Happened to me again when I did an impression of Shaggy from Scooby Doo. I said "Just do Casey Kasem giggling & you've got it " I had no idea at the time Casey really was the voice of Shaggy. Hollywood if youre hiring... Im available!
Probably already mentioned, but another connection to pro wrestling--Lewis Arquette was the father of David Arquette, former WCW World Heavyweight Champion.
Charlie Adler wad the first Buster Bunny, before he left Tiny Toon Adventures and John Kassir(Tales of the Cryptkeeper) took over the role of Buster Bunny!!!
Used to watch this show all the time, and as much as I browse IMDB, I never knew about Brad Garret or James Avery doing voice overs. But if you want a memory unlocked, remember Kidd Video?
It's not just me! A lot of folks on our FB & IG pages said the same thing. I mean, how much are we REALLY paying attention to those things at the time??
@@NostalgAK it would make sense because between wrestling and this cartoon would take up a lot of time . This isn’t something you think about when you’re young. Hell I thought the ninja turtles were real lol 😂.
I knew the actual wrestlers voiced their characters, that seemed rather obvious, even for a kid. I had no idea who any of those people were at the time, but hearing the voices now makes so much sense, especially Brad Garret and Uncle Phi...er, I mean, James Avery.
Did I think the characters were voiced by the real wrestlers? Dude, I was 5... I thought the characters *were* the real wrestlers getting sucked in and out of the animated dimension every week.
LOL. I loved how the producers did their homework on most if not all these wrestlers. One scene I heard JYD singing a little of Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust".
RIGHT?! I went down a deep deep Denver the Last Dinosaur rabbit hole after learning that tid bit. Hours out of my life I'll never get back, LOL (worth it)
As a kid, I watched the show and I just had a feeling that none of the wrestlers actually voiced their characters in the show. They sounded close but not genuine.
Great video Jimmy!! Again!! First, awesome shout outs to the cast members. There are some familiar faces there and that's so neat. Second, Voice over work was kind of looked down upon in the 1970s and 80s even though the actors doing the work were SO talented! You have to have your timing down and bring those characters to life with ONLY your voice! Nevermind those dubbing anime and everything had to match up. Stopwatches were involved. I can also add that Ron Feinberg did a lot of guest starring roles in the late 60s and 70s in live action series as well. He's phenomenal! George DiCenzo did the same but I think he came on the scene in the 70s and I know he did a guest starring stint on "Law & Order" at least once. He's done a lot too! Very cool cast. Lastly, what I remember about WWF is the panda standing over a second panda with a folding chair about to do a beatdown! LOL!! It's when WWF meant two separate things! Thanks again, Jimmy!
Cartoons/animated movies were such a popular art in those decades (and prior) that you'd assume those voice actors were looked at differently :( Glad they're respected now. Yes! I noticed some of these guys had solid careers long before this cartoon arrived. Their resumes were LONG. I wouldn't be surprised if that was an actual match at one point 😂 Thanks again for adding to the conversation and dropping some much-appreciated knowledge, Bobbi!
Took me way too long to recognize Brad Garrett voiced "Big Dog" in "2 Stupid Dogs".. I mean he didn't even really change up his voice for that one either. 😅 Loved those types of shows back in the day (born 1990)..
Thank you so much, Jeff! Sharing is caring ... and I'm all about sharing my newfound nostalgia knowledge with the world 😃 Hope you're having an awesome weekend, my friend!
Brad Garrett from Everybody Loves Raymond was also the voice of Decepticon Trypticon in Transformers Generation 1 Season 3. And of Course James Avery ( The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air) was the voice of Shredder in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
YES!! Their credits were so lengthy (most of them) I was forced to limit each voice actor to a few references, for the sake of time :) Each one deserves their own video at this point
I hope you'll carve out some time to watch a few episodes! Unfortunately, it's not streaming anywhere, but there are a bunch of episodes floating around on RUclips
Very cool! I didn't know about his role in Out of the Shadows. I only watched that movie once and to be honest, don't remember anything other than Megan Fox 😂
I thought the voice actors did a great job. Although I thought at first that the wrestlers voiced their characters, I recognized that they were different voice actors. I'm thinking either money or schedules were reasons why the wrestlers didn't voice their animated characters in Hulk Hogan's Rock 'N Wrestling. Hogan mentioned making nearly $10 million a year in the 80's, so I assume that he alone would've required a huge budget for this show. If the wrestlers had to dedicate time in recording episodes, that would've taken time away from wrestling in live shows, public appearances, etc. I think recruiting voice actors also helped their careers when the wrestlers were already famous and making a lot of money.

I never watched that show, but I'm delighted to learn that Robert from Everybody Loves Raymond and Uncle Phil worked together
A very cool little fun fact :) Both class acts and phenomenal talents.
Uncle Phil what's also the voice of shredder in the old Ninja turtles cartoon
Brad Garrett made an appearance on Fresh Prince of Belaire as a hit man

Charlie Adler voiced Silverbolt, Dirk Manus and various incidental characters in the original series.
One of my favorite cartoons of the era. Amazing that none of the real wrestlers voiced any of the characters. Junkyard Dog was my favorite. Maybe because he lived in the junkyard and made some cool vehicles and inventions.
Oh this makes sense. WWF didn't want their wrestlers joining SAG, so they didn't let them become voice actors.
Never knew that, makes sense in light of Ventura and the union..

Brad Garrett used to come on The Bob and Tom Show; he would have them laughing so hard no one else could get a word in.
I didn't realize how funny he was until I started researching him. I really only ever knew him from Raymond... good dude too
I watched it....Loved it....Never knew that.... Awesome!
Alright alright!! Thrilled to know I have so much company here :) Thank you for watching! 🙏
Awesome video!!! I had no idea until today. I am 50 years old, how did I not know these? LOL. Miss me some Uncle Phil.
I never knew this and I watched this show as well as a kid .The older thst I am I remember of Uncle Phol doing Shredder voice this was so cool
An 80;s Classic. As a kid I was disappointed there was never any actual wrestling in this cartoon.
James Avery was perfect at voicing The Junkyard Dog, he DID nail JYD’s voice👍🏻
Outstanding portrayal! Although, he was outstanding with all of his roles :) RIP Uncle Phil!
I remember I was 5 or 6 years old when this cartoon aired. I never knew that Hulk Hogan didn't provide his own voice for the cartoon!
We are here to educate and inform :) Thank you so much for watching!
Brad garret that guy is everywhere.
And R.I.P. james Avery.
He really is ... which I didn't realize until researching this video. Dude has been in WAY more than I realized
Brad Garrett was good as Hulk Hogan but I loved his rendition of Lobo on Justice League/Justice LEague Unlimited. The man's voice is iconic.
So I've been told! I didn't watch much of Justice League :/ I'll give it a go just to hear Brad! Thanks so much for watching!
His Lobo is tops

If only Macho Man began his WWF career a bit earlier :( That's all this show was missing
Also worth noting Garrett would later voice Krang in Michael Bays TMNT out of the shadows so 2 krangs and a shredder on this show
I did not know! Very cool!
I met hulk hogan around this time and asked him if he did the voice and he said he did . Liar !!!! Lol
That freakin guy! Had to keep up appearances ;)
