Just got my second Mora Garberg in carbon steel. I cannot find one imperfection on this knife. I like how this knife is not painted, it is blued. Well guys and gals, I'm hooked on Mora.
Actually it's a thin coating and it's not blued. Nothing is perfect in nature and that's true for the Garberg too. It's handle material is very poor and it also doesn't feel good in your hands. After some use it starts to chip and look ugly and if you live in a hot area, just a hot summer day, can melt that handle. Another imperfection, is the fact that it doesn't have neither a true scandi edge nor a convexed one, which would be far more ideal (Fallkniven and Bark Rivers, are famous and considered the best out there , for that single reason). The sheath for the price you pay, is also VERY poor. Check out Ka-Bar Mark 1 with Kraton handles and non serated plain edge. It costs the same where I live, but it can do way more than the Garberg can and every single detail on it, is of better quality, than any Mora. PS I am not biased, as an American would be. I come from Crete Island of Greece, the place with the longest history (on Earth), on knives.
@@greekveteran2715 Ka-bar's have a weak tang. Mora's are a better choice. For me. Ka-bar's don't have the edge right up to the handle as Mora's do. Look at the video of the DBK boys, how easy the USMC knife had the tang bent and than broken. I personally rate the Bushcraft Black much higher than the Garberg. But this is personal I think..I like the rubber grip. Btw, many hate on Ka-bar's Kraton. They feel it's too weak, damages easily. To claim that the Ka-bar Mark 1 is of better quality than any Mora, is pure BS. Stop that nonsense man. You might like Ka-bar. But it's definitely the better knife.
@@Reactivate100 100% agreed. "Check out Ka-Bar Mark 1 with Kraton handles and non serated plain edge. It costs the same where I live, but it can do way more than the Garberg can and every single detail on it, is of better quality, than any Mora". This is utter nonsense.
@@Ve-suvius Do you own those knives you speak about? If not, how can you judge?? I own many knives from both brands. KA-BAR uses higher quality steel, AND materials. In terms of performance it's night and day. Ka-Bars holds their edge way longer than any Moram NEVER chip as Moras always do and in the same time are as easy, if not easier to sharpen. Mark !, comes with the one of the best factory sheaths out there. In my opinion you have to use your knives more and watch RUclips less, because both are the reasons, you attack me. Anyway, happy new year pal, God bless
I live in Alaska, so its the stainless 4 me........hell ya! PS, I skinned a 1/2 moose last winter with the $12.00 Mora, and only had to sharpen it two times. Not bad for 12 a buck knife....
Got my stainless Garberg (with leather sheath) for canoe/hiking trips in Sweden. Might buy the Carbon just for at home (Czech forest is less wet ;)). That way I can get the multi-mount so I can swap both around, the multi-mount is better for wet conditions too.
Graeme McMillan lucky man. Just returned from a trip in western Norway it's a gorgeous part of the country. You weren't the one whistling the mocking jay (hunger games) to the ship were you?
Many people think this is Mora's first full tang knife but it's not. Mora has made the Lapplander series hunting knives for over 40 years and they are true full tang and not protruding stick tang like the Garberg.
I'm sure the Garberg Carbon is a great knife but I can't imagine it's much of a step up from a bushcraft black in any area but price? I cut some Moras open and they way they are designed with the 3/4 tang and those clever moulded on shock absorbing handles you can basically treat them as full tang. By the way. You two should take a modern look at the Mora Pathfinder. It just doesn't seem fair how the knife world is missing out on this knife because of how it was I initially recieved. It's one of Moras best knives to date.

I'll take carbon over stainless any day. I live in Ontario, Canada so the climate isn't too humid or conducive for corrosion. Ease of sharpening in the field is a must for me and carbon gives you that.
I prefer the stainless steel because of resistance of corrosion. So it's safe to use with food The carbon steel stronger little bit , so it's not an advantage that make me prefer to buy it. 👍
Given two identical knives except for the steel I would pick the carbon unless the stainless was one of the newer versions of super steel. I just like how it's normally easier to sharpen carbon steel blades and they are usually a little tougher. I've got a lot of knives and rust has never really been a problem. And its not hard to remove if it is caught soon enough. I also like a knife with a nice patina, it gives it character and makes it one of a kind. As far as other blades go such as axes, swords and machetes I won't buy any of them in stainless.
Ive got a stainless Garberg, mostly for all the regular kayakin trips I make down the Cimarron River, which picks up a large of minerals from the salt springs and salt flats it travels through. Been wanting to pick up a Garberg Black though because Im more of a carbon steel kinda guy.
Hi guys. The stainless for me. Where i live the forest's are always more wet than dry. I've already had a few carbon knives in the past and when your camping for a week long hunting trip it gets hard trying to remember to oil the knives all the time and then having to clean surface rust. It's a headache.
Not minimal at all. Sandviks are great budget steels, some of thetoughest stainless steels out there. However the amount of tme it takes to sharpen or even worse, to reprofile them, is night and day with the 1095'ish steel that they use on their carbon blades. Huge difference not minimal.Same goes for the stain resistance, where the Sandvik has huge difference in stain resistance, from the carbon. Even the edge retention difference is not minimal but more than noticable.
Garberg is bang for the buck superstar - I pick stainless (its the one I own, actually if they had both I would have bought the carbon, but I like the stainless and dont see a huge difference to warrant buying the other) CHEERS!!!!
I have a Stainless and while it's a decent knife, I am not crazy about the lack of a grip and next to no guard and I find my other Mora's cut better with a more narrow blade. Full Tang isn't always the best, Go figure!
I prefer Mora Bushcraft Black than Garberg, the handle is much more practical and the price is half way ,I also have the triflex and force with the same type of handle, and I am very pleased with them, the handle (sticks) to the hand.
I want to see a battle video between the two garnered, Mora companion Hd, Mora bush craft, and the new kid on the block Condor Terrasaur. Thrown in BM puko for good measure
Great video! It was hard to see the first part where your friendship was in danger. The acting was top notch! You guys never fail to make me laugh! Keep up the good work. I still like the heavy duty companion. If it breaks I can get a new one. Plus I like the handle style.
What do you think of the mora bushcraft black? Given it's the same steel which seems to be an improvement, would it make sense to go for the cheaper option?
Of course the carbon one is victorious. I have yet to find a 14C28N knife that actually holds an edge and doesn't chip like crazy. Needless to say I bought the carbon Garberg
Over 2 years mine hasn't chipped and hold a great edge. I had a real steel in 14c and it was horrible but the Garberg has had no issues. I think the grind looks different on the carbon edition and if I had the choice back then I'd pick carbon.
Stainless on this for me. Not usually a stainless steel fan but in a knife that is tough enough I’ve come to appreciate it because of how fast a little rust will dull knife edge. I love the carbon not use for ease of sharpening but something like this I think I’ll keep my stainless and deal with the extra work sharpening the edge
I like the stainless! I think it's more rust resistant! I think the carbon will start fires better! My opinion; buy both and throw them in your bugout bag! 2 is better than 1! Take a old mans advice!
Awesome video guys love it! A question.... generally watching through your vids you seem to prefer Stainless generally (I think back to some Esee vids) Is that generally the case or do you think it's a knife by knife thing?
You are right. I love how stainless doesn't need much looking after. The Netherlands can be pretty wet. Our favorite is not stainless though. Cpm3v can rust but not very easily
WOOOHOOO! Hey man! thanks for replying. No need to tell me about the rain, I'm from England. But I'm half Dutch too 💪 Far out. I miss Poffertjes. Yep, got a Master Hunter so I do appreciate 3V. I'm in the market for a good scandi though and I can't decide what steel to go for. Have got a Mora companion but want something lasting. I like the offerings from Casstrom, Enzo, Cudeman, TBS, Wright & Son... but maybe a Garberg Slaat nergens op and hagelslag.
What do you think of sharpening 3v on Skerper Pro stones? I have a dc4, and I’m getting a bark river soon, can I use the skerper 5000 grit to make it sharper than the dc4 can get it?
I think skerper pro can still sharpen it but it will be the limit. They are the same as naniwa specialty stones and will wear pretty fast whe. Sharpening 3v
Garberg Carbon has the same steel and performance with the bushcraft only it is full tank knife . 120 € are a lot for the same steel though . You can buy a cpm 3V blade with that money .
hey guys help please I bought the stainless garberg it wasn't that sharp I took the secondary bevel off went to a scandi should I have done that or left the bevel?? I have a wet stone 1000 and 6000 grit coming in a few days how would you recommend I sharpen it ? bevel or scandi
wow. That was. . . intense. Question: did you resharpen the Mora knives starting with a 1000 grit? Great video, like always, all the action had me on the edge of my seat for 10 minutes, not a lot of people have the talent of creating good quality, entertaining videos within the span of a week! Interesting ending too...
that's what I wanna know to I got a duel 1000 6000 whetstone coming in few days I got the stainless version garberg and not sure to sharpen it scandi or put a bevel back on it
I like the stainless steel version more because I also want to use it for food preparation but if you are into Bushcraft and starting fires and stuff like that then the carbon version is better

Super nice video!!! I was waiting it since the pre-order.
14c28n because its about 4 times tougher then 1095
Finally someone with clue 🙂
@@greekveteran2715 well you are speaking absolute rubbish. People have tested these knifes for two years.
@@greekveteran2715
Ka-bar's have a weak tang.
@@Reactivate100
100% agreed.
I bought 2 stainless Garbergs already. Now I have a Carbon on the way.
I live in Alaska, so its the stainless 4 me........hell ya! PS, I skinned a 1/2 moose last winter with the $12.00 Mora, and only had to sharpen it two times. Not bad for 12 a buck knife....
Can you please do a review on the mora bushcraft black
03:25 It's the guy from the movie "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" 😁
Got my stainless Garberg (with leather sheath) for canoe/hiking trips in Sweden. Might buy the Carbon just for at home (Czech forest is less wet ;)). That way I can get the multi-mount so I can swap both around, the multi-mount is better for wet conditions too.
I have watched all of your videos and I think this *may* be the best one. Glorious bros
Thank you so much my friend haha!
Stainless. But only because I live on the west coast of Norway 🌦
Graeme McMillan lucky man. Just returned from a trip in western Norway it's a gorgeous part of the country. You weren't the one whistling the mocking jay (hunger games) to the ship were you?
Adventure Outdoors UK hahahahha can’t say if it was. Would ruin the intrigue
Wow, that intro!!! And I thought Infinity War was epic. XD
Many people think this is Mora's first full tang knife but it's not. Mora has made the Lapplander series hunting knives for over 40 years and they are true full tang and not protruding stick tang like the Garberg.
Great video! Very entertaining as always. Can't wait to check out the podcast. Planing on putting the Mora Garberg Black up against any other knives?
The epicness of that voice made my 9 year old cousin age 10 years in the first 3 minutes
I guess people just have a hard time trusting anything that says Pathfinder.

I love hearing you guys speak in your native tounge its damn awesome
Dankzij deze video heb ik een garberg carbon gekocht. Thanks gasten! En veel plezier met jullie kanaal!
I'll take carbon over stainless any day. I live in Ontario, Canada so the climate isn't too humid or conducive for corrosion. Ease of sharpening in the field is a must for me and carbon gives you that.
Will K 14c28n sharpens fairly easily. I have several knives in that steel and have never had an issue with resharpening in the field.
I prefer the stainless steel because of resistance of corrosion. So it's safe to use with food
The carbon steel stronger little bit , so it's not an advantage that make me prefer to buy it. 👍
the stainless one is my favourite because its the one i have.
Informative and very entertaining. I will have to watch more of your videos when I am feeling low 😂😂😂
Beautiful mirror polish on those knives!
Amazing video! I just feel like the differences are minimal and I am just fine with my Stainless!
I just ordered the Mora Garberg Carbon Black, thru the Link You Guys Provided. Thanx Again Bushcraft Dudes!
Awesomene! Thanks a lot
Garberg is bang for the buck superstar - I pick stainless (its the one I own, actually if they had both I would have bought the carbon, but I like the stainless and dont see a huge difference to warrant buying the other) CHEERS!!!!
I have the stainless and it NEVER disappointed me in any plight، I don't think I replace it with carbon
Sweet review fellas. I have the Mora Garberg in stainless steel and I love it. I can’t wait to buy the Carbon version Now.
I have a Stainless and while it's a decent knife, I am not crazy about the lack of a grip and next to no guard and I find my other Mora's cut better with a more narrow blade. Full Tang isn't always the best, Go figure!
This video...Directed by Michael Bay.
Garbergeddon?
Lovely day today..... It's DBK day...... thank you guys.... fantastic like everytime.....
ok, your Videos are the best Knife related Videos on YT !
Guys great video as always!! can u review the bahco 2449 wrecking knife?
I really enjoyed that very amusing video. As someone who likes a bit of sea fishing, the choice between the two is a no-brainer for me.
Perfect.Thank you guys
I prefer Mora Bushcraft Black than Garberg, the handle is much more practical and the price is half way ,I also have the triflex and force with the same type of handle, and I am very pleased with them, the handle (sticks) to the hand.
I dont like rusty knives .... my winner .... Stainless Garberg!!
You guys are back at it with amazing videos!
Does this remind anyone else of the cold steel commercials but way funnier I love these guys I want to slap them in a good way
Damnit guys! I finally get the damn stainless version and now I have to get the carbon! I wish I wasn’t addicted to knives!
Hahaha! The stainless still is amazing as well
What do you think of Steel Will knives? They are kinda new (2014 I think). There aren't much reviews about them.
They both look like they did a fantastic job. I would have to say a tie.
I want to see a battle video between the two garnered, Mora companion Hd, Mora bush craft, and the new kid on the block Condor Terrasaur. Thrown in BM puko for good measure
I like the stainless better. I like its looks and that it's care-free😁😁
you guys are breaking my cool meter!
great video, great knife, but I will save the $100 and get the Mora Companion.
Greetz! What are Your preference with the edge of the carbon? Stay with secondary bevel, make it full skandi or skandivex? Im really interested. B
We often opt for a scandi-vex. Never for a Secondary v edge.
Hey guys, wich grid you're used for resharpen? Choseras right?
Nice rev. Kai
What stones are you guys using here? Any chance you can link to them?
Great video! It was hard to see the first part where your friendship was in danger. The acting was top notch! You guys never fail to make me laugh! Keep up the good work.
I still like the heavy duty companion. If it breaks I can get a new one. Plus I like the handle style.
I love my companion too it's my favorite
What do you think of the mora bushcraft black? Given it's the same steel which seems to be an improvement, would it make sense to go for the cheaper option?
Of course the carbon one is victorious. I have yet to find a 14C28N knife that actually holds an edge and doesn't chip like crazy. Needless to say I bought the carbon Garberg
Over 2 years mine hasn't chipped and hold a great edge. I had a real steel in 14c and it was horrible but the Garberg has had no issues. I think the grind looks different on the carbon edition and if I had the choice back then I'd pick carbon.
Enjoyed. Thank you.
You guys are crazy. Glad I found your channel. Great vids.
Stainless on this for me. Not usually a stainless steel fan but in a knife that is tough enough I’ve come to appreciate it because of how fast a little rust will dull knife edge. I love the carbon not use for ease of sharpening but something like this I think I’ll keep my stainless and deal with the extra work sharpening the edge
how hard is it to sharpen it ???
I like the stainless! I think it's more rust resistant! I think the carbon will start fires better! My opinion; buy both and throw them in your bugout bag! 2 is better than 1! Take a old mans advice!
So you really think that the stainless version is more rust resistant?🤔
Genius conclusion!
What would you prefer: Mora Garberg or Ka Bar BK16? I can’t draw my decision. Great Video again.
for me a garberg. The Bk16 is a decent knife as well though. I just prefer the steel and handle of the garberg.
I like the offerings from Casstrom, Enzo, Cudeman, TBS, Wright & Son... but maybe a Garberg
Slaat nergens op and hagelslag.
Dutch Bushcraft Knives so, what about a shapton glass stone for polishing ?
I already have the stainless so I'll probably get the carbon as well
Garberg Carbon has the same steel and performance with the bushcraft only it is full tank knife . 120 € are a lot for the same steel though . You can buy a cpm 3V blade with that money .
The Garberg stainless is ~60€ here and the Garberg carbon ~70€. I think they're quite fairly priced compared to the competition.
Wald Geist here ? where ?
Wald Geist the price of the Garberg Black in Europe is 120 € and that's too much bro .
hey guys help please I bought the stainless garberg it wasn't that sharp I took the secondary bevel off went to a scandi should I have done that or left the bevel?? I have a wet stone 1000 and 6000 grit coming in a few days how would you recommend I sharpen it ? bevel or scandi
Stainless for me great for coastal work and sea kayaking
Song at 5:30?
I can't find it
EDIT: carbon baby. Both have perks. But carbon has always been my preference.
Ik ben nog steeds verliefd op me stainless garberg maar deze gaat er ook komen. Leuke video!
I got both! I like the Stainless because it won't rust
wow. That was. . . intense. Question: did you resharpen the Mora knives starting with a 1000 grit? Great video, like always, all the action had me on the edge of my seat for 10 minutes, not a lot of people have the talent of creating good quality, entertaining videos within the span of a week! Interesting ending too...
that's what I wanna know to I got a duel 1000 6000 whetstone coming in few days I got the stainless version garberg and not sure to sharpen it scandi or put a bevel back on it
these guys are great
Because you guys ... I love the thursdays
That was really weird, but really informative.
I have both,,,, Amazon $75, might as well. both are great knives
what sharpener do you use to mora?
I like the stainless steel version more because I also want to use it for food preparation but if you are into Bushcraft and starting fires and stuff like that then the carbon version is better
