It’s wonderful that your 18 year old is watching the show with you. I’m also an adult and I’ve, unashamedly, suggested the series to many people - young and old. Everyone loves it! (Edited to add content)
I first read this book as a teenager around 1987. I've read it so many times since then and will probably read it countless times more but still, thank you this upload. It's a joy to listen to.
This is an incredible audiobook! This classic tale is beautifully told in the narrator’s voice. I try to listen at night, but the storyline and the voice both soothe me in such a way that I wind up falling into a deep sleep before I can finish a chapter! It’s hard to believe that this is available for no cost on RUclips!
Thank you so much for this and for making it available to the public. I'm listening to this with the 1985 version movie soundtrack in the background. It is making me well up. This is my favourite book of all time. I'm in my 40s now, but I cycled through the AoGG series, laughed, cried and wiped away tears in my bedroom while reading this book. It transported me to another place, made me want to be a good person, made me appreciate the beauty of nature and was an exceptional influence for the young girl I was.
This is a very beautiful and a very comforting book in so many ways with its many lessons, morals and stories of personal and relational triumph over obstacles. The Christian gospel and the teachings of Jesus and the bible are intricately woven throughout the story. I am listening to the audio of the book here for the first time

This helped alot. I tried to download audible but my dad said no so i was stressed out cause this is my summer reading and i found this so im very glad!❤❤
This is a GREAT voice actor-way more than just a narrator or a reader. She has mad skills: differentiating characters well, pronouncing all words correctly, great warm, living, realistic inflection. Almost all others are either robotic or poor readers or display insufficient vocabulary or are inconsistent with microphone levels so it’s obvious when they take breaks. Ironically, these are the reasons I can fall asleep to her storytelling: all the faults I listed are so annoying that they keep jarring me awake. I may have to go back and pick up where I fell asleep, but I’m enjoying every minute of it.
Me and my husband laughed through most of this story! It’s just Wonderful to hear all the details even though it could make you tired hearing her mouth all the time! So funny!
I am not a fast reader so I listen and while reading the actual book. In my 27 years of existence I’m really glad I found this book. Such a talented author and narrator 💕
Wonderful book. So vividly written. And I would also like to add that the reader, Karen Savage does an absolutely wonderful job of reading this book. She really knows how to make it come to life.
I find a new beauty in the narrative, in the thought processes of Natthew and Mrs Rachel as well in the descriptive passages. Things that I don't recall from when I read the books, or never noticed when I watched any of the film versions. Excellent job!
I wish we could get Karen Savage to narrate all the Green Gables books! Her performance was spot-on and I'm spoiled for other readers of this series. The accent really added a feeling of authenticity, the pacing and characterizations of the reading was top notch, and her voice is soothing and youthful and perfectly capture the dreamy essence of Anne. The other audiobooks I've found have been read by narrators that sound more like Marilla's age or otherwise just don't fit with the story.
Not to criticize the reader, but just FYI: the accent is actually pretty far from what a Prince Edward Island (or New Brunswick, for Anne) accent would have been at that time (it hasn't disappeared, but you don't hear as distinct a PEI accent as much these days, especially among the middle- and upper-classes).
I've never been there (someday, I hope!) so I guess to my inexperienced American ears it sounds great, but coming from the south I know how annoying the typical fake, stereotypical southern accent can be.
@@faeriefire78 No, I’m not bothered at all by her accent - she’s not trying to ‘do’ a PEI accent, and I wouldn’t expect her to; even most Canadians have no idea there is such a thing; I just brought it up as a point of interest. The actual accent would be closer to some kind of Irish accent, to give you a vague idea. My sympathies, though, for having to put up with the abuse of Southern accents … !
The first movie of the first book or so, with Megan Follows, holds to the book, but the following movies do not. The books are so much better to me, but I own all the movies, too. 😊 We have an "Anne of Green Gables" marathon ever so often and binge all the movies in one weekend. We all LOVE this story.
I know Megan follows, the ‘real Anne’ read this series once a long time ago and I was looking for it online. But Karen Savage - this wonderful wonderful volunteer has done an extraordinarily tremendous job reading! I am not at all disappointed because she is every bit as good as Megan. Thank you for sharing your time and talent with all of us!
I first read this book when I was about six, I've read the whole series many times, but never heard it read before. It's fantastic! So funny, and I love the relationship between Anne and Marilla. I even got teary at some bits! My daughter is going to Canada next week for her gap year, to Nova Scotia, and hopefully I will visit and we can make a trip to Prince Edward Island. Thanks Librivox.
I enjoyed listening to this book . Looked forward to listen to two chapters every evening . Thank you Karen for reading the book so beautifully. You voice was calming , peaceful and interesting to listen too...
Named my daughter after this character, and made very, very sure to spell that name correctly. However, my Anne is dark-haired, not quite raven-haired, but almost. And to me, she is perfect, too, just like Anne is.
I doubt it :) Ryan Reynolds might beg to differ...he seemed to really enjoy the Neflix series of "Anne with an E" and was outspokenly disappointed when it was prematurely cancelled. And that's just one 'famous' example, there's plenty of men like yourself out there who enjoy a good entertaining well-told story...it's a human thing. You're in good company ;)
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story. I am from Argentina. I am studying English and this material is very useful. And by the way, I love this great story in all its versions and presentations. Thanks again
All of my friends hate reading and the friends who do read , read genres I don’t . But my Librarian (who I am very close with) and I are book buddies and read a bunch of books and talk about them during lunch . Anne of green gables is a book we love talking about and holds a nice place in my heart . It’s kind of a secret with everyone because they see me read books that are manga but I have a love for realistic fiction and books people consider “boring” if my friends knew they would say why I would be reading a grandma book so I read in the comforts of my school library were none of my friends really hang out .

@@nozecone Sounds kind of lovely! Thank you for the sympathies, it can be very painful and cringey, lol! 🤣
What a wonderful book this is! It reminded me there are so many things in nature we can appreciate and be happy with.
Matthew was my fave character the movie still touches my heart decades later where she grew up is a dream i sleep to this
Very nice! The best movie to do this book justice is with Megan Fellows and Coleen Dewhurst. The cast, music and writing is superb!!
Thanks. I really liked Colleen Dewhurst. I'll try to find it
The first movie of the first book or so, with Megan Follows, holds to the book, but the following movies do not. The books are so much better to me, but I own all the movies, too. 😊 We have an "Anne of Green Gables" marathon ever so often and binge all the movies in one weekend. We all LOVE this story.
I’m smiling throughout the whole thing this story is amazing
Yes it is amazing
I absolutely LOVED Anne of Green Gables when I was growing up!!
BEST reading of this book that I've heard yet!! Well done Karen! You do an excellent job with this book.
This is delightful, and beautifully read. It takes me back so many years. Just lovely. Thank you so much.
A beautiful, humorous story, wonderfully read. Thank you!
My favorite book next to Pride and Prejudice. They just don’t write em like this anymore 😢 Also ugly-crying around the 7:42:40 mark
I enjoyed listening to this book . Looked forward to listen to two chapters every evening . Thank you Karen for reading the book so beautifully. You voice was calming , peaceful and interesting to listen too...
Thank you, a most enjoyable audio book, the Narrator was fabulous and the story was captivating.
My mom’s family are from PEI, and I was surprised and happy when my daughter was born with flame red hair.
But did you name her, Anne with an E ?
What a lovely sweet voice !!! Thank you so much!!!
I first read this book in 7th grade and the series quickly became a favorite. I’m listening to it again while working, 25 years later. ❤
It would be wonderful if this type of books were popular among kids. It has such great and mature values on it.
I’m reading this for summer reading at my school and no one told me I would cry 😂
I am reading this for Christmas break
Poor Anne
I'm from Iran 🇮🇷 Ann is famous 8n Iran'
❤️
Named my daughter after this character, and made very, very sure to spell that name correctly. However, my Anne is dark-haired, not quite raven-haired, but almost. And to me, she is perfect, too, just like Anne is.
What brilliant acting at 3:20:55. I'll forever imagine Anne to sound just like Karen Savage.
One of my favorite series as a kid..
yes me too
Math gave her the most challenge :))
@@virginia_caoimhe thank you so much!
@@amylee4034 your welcomeeee 😂
Same

I absolutely adore the Anne series. I wish that there where more of them lol. Karen is so talented. Thanks for the upload.

there are about 5 more books after this one, if you haven't read them yet they are good
olivia anaia I have 😊
@@livsux I think 8 altogether.
Not to mention all the many many adaptations including an ongoing one.
I've always loved this story. Beautifully read, really enjoyed listening . Thank You 😊
“There is no use in loving things when you have to be torn away from them” *has three year long distant engagement*
I'm the same... my husband lives in England and in the us... feeling quite tragical during these times 😭
Did it work out? ~Curiousity
💥SPOILERS💥
Girlie don't worry- Anne had a three year long distant engagement and it was successful.
her voice is SO PRETTY, i love anne´s tone and i love this book. i´m reading and listening at the same time to practice my english
She sounds just like how I thought Anne would sound like.
I would love to be friends with Anne
Karen Savage did a lovely job narrating this book, a good expressive voice, thank you
I love this book so much and I wish I could live on green gables!
I love the series made in the 80’s(?) Anne is a real character and Mathew is so sweet. I think it’s much better than the new series on Netflix
this story is situated in prince edward island in the late 19th century
samantha shawn I think they meant the mini series for AOGG (1985).
Totally agree. I didn’t like all the extra characters they created and storylines that were never in the original book.
Am I the only guy who actually enjoyed this? Reminds me a bit of my sister, although 100+ years apart.
Someone once told me the best books to read are the ones you don't necessarily want to at first glance because then you risk finding things about yourself you do not know already.
I read Anne of Green Gables as Child , of the many books I have read, one of those one never outgrows, I have lost my tattered copy , but never forgotten🌻.Thank You,💐💐 beautifully read.💐
Absolutely love this book; Great job reading Miss Karen!👍🏼
Hello, I am a beginner in English.
