      RIGHT! for the money this cost I better NOT have to hold up the damn hood

  • @norkisserrano
    @norkisserrano 4 года назад +1

    Why did you go for 4.88 and not 5.29 gear ratio considering the total weight of the truck and the larger 35 size tires? Btw this is one of the sickest I’ve seen, my Taco is screaming for this build.

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  4 года назад +1

      Norkis Serrano because contrary to what everyone else out there on the forums say the 4.88 keeps a very nice RPM range at highway cruising speeds. The VF tune we used gave it way more off idle throttle response and more enjoyable drivability. The 3rd gen trucks don’t have a mechanical hearing issue. It’s an electronic tuning issue.

    • @norkisserrano
      @norkisserrano 4 года назад

      Tactical Application Vehicles -So does Pedal Commader helps as it seem to serve as electronic tuning like you said?Thanks

    This channel is so underrated. How durable are the truck wraps?

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  3 года назад

      Thank you! It depends on how someone takes care of it. But it’s tougher than I expected we’re pretty hard on ours but it can get damaged. If it does the wrap guy can peel off the damaged section and reapply new stuff.

    I see you guys use 4.88’s on all the Tacoma builds I have seen. Is there a reason you don’t go with 5.29’s? Thanks for sharing - very inspirational builds.

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  4 года назад +4

      We run 5.29's on trucks running 37" tires or something that will be towing a trailer on a regular basis.

    • @Yankeefan78471
      @Yankeefan78471 4 года назад +1

      Tactical Application Vehicles thanks for the reply - I usually see 4.88’s for 33’s and 5.29’s for 35’s+ or even 33’s with lots of weight. I have 4.88’s but never considered doing 35’s with them. Maybe I’ll have to give it a shot now.

    They are coming out with a full size Alua. I want to use it on a Power Wagon. Thoughts💭

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  3 года назад

      I’d have to see it in person to really know. I think it would be better suited for a power wagon if it does come out for a full size. It just depends on how you want to use the truck. There are a bunch of other good options available.

    How long do these normally take? I heard this was started and left with you back in October 2019. Is 9 months a typical build time for you guys?

    • @TAVLLC
      @TAVLLC  4 года назад +3

      Definitely not. We've already taken this truck to Vegas for the MINT400 race and an event we do locally in February. There can be a lot of down time waiting on parts or changes to the build. There is far more that goes into these builds than anyone will ever know. COVID 19 didn't help anything either.

    By adding a long travel kit to the front arent you widening the track? If you are not widening the rear track wont that make the truck ride weird? This is one of the biggest complaints about the Land Cruiser 79 series.
