To the "sell-out" comments here: when you bust your tail for decades perfecting your craft of story-telling, filming, editing, voice-overs, travel logistics, team-building, etc, brands such as Toyota, ARB, PCOR, etc, want to work with you so that their products gain exposure to a targeted audience and because they know their products will be highlighted in such a way that aligns with the way they want their products highlighted to a mass audience. What XO does is no different than Nike wanting their products on Tiger Woods because they saw him as the best golfer in the world. Awesome builds, XO crew! The vast majority of us appreciate what you do and what you put out for our enjoyment! (ps what pants do you all have on? I need some.)
I think you’re missing the point of many of these “sell out” comments. The point is that these builds are unrealistic to the average offroad enthusiast. No one is saying they don’t deserve it. This is an awesome channel but not many can afford these setups. You can’t even find TRD Tacomas at Toyota dealerships these days.
@@Beattheroutine I hear you, but calling someone or some organization a "sell-out" presumes that said someone or organization subscribes to the notion that they are aligned equally with the person calling them out under the pretense that what they promote is realistic. I haven't seen any of XO's content regarding these trucks claiming to be realistic or affordable for the average off-road enthusiast. With that common denominator, it's not logical to call XO a "sell-out".
When the Vid strikes and you have to quarantine from the rest of the family, you do it in the back of your 4Runner while in your version of the X Hanger. (ok ok its my garage). But being able to watch XO build videos and the new Alaska launch make it a little more tolerable. Great work on the builds guys!! Top notch as always.
I'd love to see a behind the scenes video of the two builds. With details on installation challenges, total (MSRP) cost, hours spent on the build, what works and what doesn't, What you wish you could improve, etc.
I think it's rather impossible. These videos are sponsored. If something doesn't work, it's replaced silently. Someone who gives them tires or other equipment for free does not want 100,000. people watched something break. This is the power of marketing - talk about positive things, not negative ones; sometimes you have to add fragments from the installation that something seems to be going wrong to add realism and such a thrill, stress, etc. In fact, Alaska can be attacked with new equipment worth less than $ 40,000. For example, you buy a new Tacoma with a 4-cylinder engine, an access cab and a utility package without rear seats. For an additional $1,500 you can install a rear lockout and compressor, for $2,000 you change the suspension, for an additional $1,500 you buy new tires and for $3,500 you buy an extrahigh canopy. All you have to do is install a 2" receiver on the back and front and buy a winch that mounts to the 2" receiver + some hauling equipment. Together with canopy heating and a mattress, you'll get around $40,000 with a new car and gear, and maybe $20,000 with a slightly used one. What is shown in the videos costs at least $60,000-70,000 in total and a lot of labour, but actually - I think - it only costs them labour; the rest is advertising.

I'm an overlander and not a rock crawling offroader. However I want to go to places like Yukon, NWT and Alaska among others. Do you expect aluminum sliders to provide similar levels of protection?
My only complaint is the TRD off-road doesn't have a stock front locker. IMO, if you're going to brand it as Off-road, then front lockers should be included in the package. That, and I'd sell my first born child for a standard two door cab and an 8' bed and manual transmission. Basically, a 1985 pickup, but with all the modern amenities lol.
@@mattstoll4747 My problem is I’m tall, and the average Tacoma I’m bumping my head on. For whatever reason the 6 foot bed has huge head space in the cab!
As far as I know the cab hights are the same unless you get a sun roof, then you lose 2in of head room. I'm 6'4 and don't have any problem with head room in my 20 OR with a sun roof.
They have been great. We run them in everything. Service intervals are pretty good to between rebuilds. Expect 20k of heavy abuse and up to 50k everyday use before a rebuild.

Absolut geil !!! 👍🏻🇩🇪
Divide each difficulty into as many parts as is feasible and necessary to resolve it.
All this new up grades gear. hard core truck.whats the cost$$$ looking at 10000 dollars 🥺
I feel like I'm really behind on my truck build now.
It’s tough when you actually have to pay for parts lol these guys get everything handed to them.
@@ryanmarshburn2858 So true.
@@ryanmarshburn2858 yeah, that's how partnerships work. Companies give them product to test, in exchange for exposure. Since XO is a pretty heavy hitter in the industry AND they've built relationships with these companies over the years...it shouldn't be a surprise.
...signed, a poor dad slowing building his 4runner. :)
My first truck took me 7 years to build. Enjoy the process! Clay-
Godlike build
Approximately how expensive was the setup for each truck?
I've seen your previous expeditions and the abuse your trucks take. Any reservations about using the aluminum rock sliders? I'm torn between steel and aluminum. I'm an overlander and not a rock crawling offroader. However I want to go to places like Yukon, NWT and Alaska among others.
Do you expect aluminum sliders to provide similar levels of protection?
I wouldn’t expect an honest review from these dudes! Self there integrity to the sponsors.
Interesting how you build an overland vehicle. I wonder how the unibody of the ford maverick will hold up to an overland build.
Having spent 4 years in Alaska the PCOR would be my last choice;)
My only complaint is the TRD off-road doesn't have a stock front locker. IMO, if you're going to brand it as Off-road, then front lockers should be included in the package.
That, and I'd sell my first born child for a standard two door cab and an 8' bed and manual transmission.
Basically, a 1985 pickup, but with all the modern amenities lol.
Oh us too! We are always on the lookout for a 2-door manual! It would be a blast!
what is the internal organization system in the goose gear drawer?
so nice my best RUclips channel gonna make my day ( actually my night I am in France )
So how much does a fully equipped truck like this cost?
This one at current prices would be $125-150k
which Prinsu rack are you using on the Raven?
What battery are you guys running?

Are limb risers actually made from rope ?!
a punten bade naros ari ieu teh mobil Hilux sanes?
How do you get the Remington through Canada on the way to Alaska?
We took them up in the vehicles on the boat.
No bead lock wheels?
I’m curious why you don’t have a 6 foot bed, seems like you could utilize that space? Is it harder to overland in a 6 foot bed then a 5 foot bed?
The longer the wheel base the bigger the turning radius. It makes harder to negotiate tight trails.
@@mattstoll4747
Well I needed the 6 foot bed for my Kimbo Camper! We all make compromises.
If you don't need the 4 door the extra cab with a 6ft bed has the same wheel base as the 4 door with a 5ft bed
@@mattstoll4747
My problem is I’m tall, and the average Tacoma I’m bumping my head on. For whatever reason the 6 foot bed has huge head space in the cab!
As far as I know the cab hights are the same unless you get a sun roof, then you lose 2in of head room. I'm 6'4 and don't have any problem with head room in my 20 OR with a sun roof.
Ooo yaaa💪💪
Is that Tacoma 4x4 a 6 Cy
NOTHING BEATS 🇦🇺 STRAYA MATE…
how are the icon suspension with wet weather ? - as far as long term maintenance required ?
They have been great. We run them in everything. Service intervals are pretty good to between rebuilds. Expect 20k of heavy abuse and up to 50k everyday use before a rebuild.
thank you for the reply.. great news,, too bad availibility is pretty scrace for anything these days. stay safe ! - let me know if you ahve a set that you don't need ;) ha ha
It's great that PCORE is exporting their tray and canopy to the USA but in truth GCI TrayTec and Mitts Alloy is a much better choice for Trays and Canopies unfortunately they don't export to the US.
I want raven Tacoma lol 😂
Nvm I want the Tacoma with the pcor setup 😂
You basically redoing, completely , the Toyota.
Would like a total cost. Probbly 100k each truck.
