@@aaronjosephs4669 it would still suck. there are so many different waves on tour that require different skillsets. it doesn't matter which spot they pick for a top 5 final event, it will always favor some surfers more than others. just taking all the points earned over the entire year equals out those differences much better and truly determines the best surfer of the year.

É realmente hora de comemorar, mas não apaga o fato dos critérios diferenciados para todos contra os brasileiros durante todo o campeonato.
Nesta etapa, no primeiro round, Felipe desceu numa onda, injetou três manobras diferentes, finalizou na junção, e recebeu praticamente a mesma nota do outro, que apenas deu três batidas.
    Porque será?? 🤔🤔
Será que os patrocinadores e investidores dos brasileiros, estão valendo menos que dos outros competidores??

Toledo may be the most consistent in conditions like these, and for that well done on winning a WSL world title.
However, when it comes to the best waves in the world with the best conditions in the world, such as when its 8-10ft and over at Pipe and Chopes and other world class waves, the best surfing in the world is not being done by him. In fact he's often not even in the water.
One look at a channel like Nathan Florence's clearly proves that without a shadow of a doubt.
It is ok for Toledo to win with aerial manoeuvres. But if he is, it should be actually progressive airs on waves of consequence, like Gabby and John John's airs at pumping pipe, Italo's huge air to dry reef at margs this year, Yago's air at Jbay, or the airs Kael Walsh and Mikey Wright were doing in the latest quick edit at slabs with consequence, to name a few examples. Not safe airs that barely go above the lip. Granted the conditions for these finals didn't allow for much more, however I have yet to see a progressive air by toledo that was huge AND required big commitment AND at a wave of consequence(like Italo's at Margs for example).
Plenty of Brazilians charge, Toledo just lacks courage. Well done on the World Title, no one is as consistent as him in the small conditions. But to say that world title proves he is the best surfer in the world is an absolute fallacy

Now, everyone says about the surfers that got the air game, if it is as “easy/boring” as everyone says so why only a few of the BEST surfers in the WORLD can pull it out? Clearly brazilians are on a whole next level for years hence why they have been winning everything, even though most of the time the judges, yes the judges ruin it all.

Absolutely hate this new format... even thouh Trestles consistency and perfection cant be discussed... but simply cannot treat surfing as if it was basketball or football or any other sport with year finals... must be based on consistency throughout the year in different spots and conditions... Toledo had already to be champion and luckily so he performed well... same not happened with Carissa... guys like Fioravanti (potential future competitor for world title being so consistent this year) or Robinson (he made it here and hes here to stay as he could already be a champion) or even John John (would love to see rivalry between him and the brazilian "old guard" spark again), or Dora, etc.etc. would never ever be able to beat guys like Ethan or Felipe at Trestles or anybody whose surf fits this type of wave so well as their do...

Ethan Ewing makes the perfect moves, with a lot of fluidity, power and a high degree of inversion ... But thank God surfing has developed wings, and Brazilians are born flying ... 😎
