@@ogmechsftw not many in US, granted. Americans like bigger and heavier and no gadget is unnecessary or dumb. Why cars are bulky, heavy, and burdened with tech
1:46 Are you buying it because you want it or people around want you to have one it's kinda stupid to not buy things you like because people assuming stuff
some people don’t buy the latest products just to "keep up with the Joneses." Sometimes, they genuinely like having the newest technology or staying up-to-date. For example, when I was 15, I used to flash my Android phone to get the latest system updates, even though my device wasn’t officially supported. I preferred Android over iPhone, despite everyone around me using iPhones and even teasing me for sticking with Android. I didn’t care about what was popular-I just liked Android better. This shows that some people don’t always want the latest thing for show; they want it because it aligns with their preferences and interests. Now, as I look into buying a car, I find the Cupra Formentor really interesting. It’s a relatively new model, having been on the market for less than five years, but they’ve already released a facelift. Imagine buying the previous generation just a month before the facelift comes out-it would feel like my purchase was instantly outdated. This highlights a frustrating trend: product lifecycles are getting shorter, and it can be annoying when something you’ve just bought quickly becomes “old” or “outdated” even if you genuinely like it.
One that's bad with the facelift thing is the 2010-2012 mustang, was a new look compared to the previous 2005-2009, but then in 2013 it got another facelift that only lasted to 2014. Then it got a complete redesign in 2015.
I have a 2003 car that I saved from a potential scrapyard. I got it for free, but I still had to spend almost half of a similar car's value just to get it running. It was a pain in the ass since it was 1st car I truly worked with but I feel it was worth it. Fantastic daily driver for a nice discount and also saving the environment by prolonging the lifespan of the car. Most likely won't keep it as a lifetime project, but on the other hand, it would be a cool reminder that there used to be a time when cars were built to last.
So i don't know how this works since i don't live in the us. But what a friend that lives there told me, is that there is a lease culture for everything forming up, cars is main thing, but this applies in general to everything. Basically people will lease a car for 2 or 3 years and then they switch for a new one. Sometimes they will keep it, but most times they will switch for a new one.
I'd say that the shift to an interior without buttons is also going to get expensive to maintain in the future - cause what happens when its all screens, they stop working, AND the manufacturers dont support your model anymore?
This reason is why I own a 2009 VW Passat R36 & 2008 VW Golf R32 Haven't considered a brand new vehicle in the slightest. The years 1993-2011 are my favourite years for cars
My modern car is a 2011 V8 4700cc Landcruiser. (Yes it does look new!!). The older cars are from 1983/4. Mercedes S-Class, G-Class and E-Class. It helps that I live in a country with cheap petrol and excellent mechanics.
There is something about Driving Vibe older cars that newer dont. Like 1999 VW Bora aka Jetta mk.4 No screens, just simple dashboard and a radio, the driving experience is just more authentic than a 2013 Skoda Octavia.
If you buy a car too early you’ll miss out on the special version or facelift, but if you buy it too late it’ll be considered an older model, seen as cheaper, or theres a new generation old for it. It makes you feel bad. My friend just bought a 2019 mustang 5.0 premium low mileage for 32k and then 8 months later the new 2024 mustang model came out and had he just saved for those 8 extra months he could have a brand new 5.0 mustang or even a dark horse, but now he is stuck with a 5 year old mustang that just lost half it’s value with the new model coming out. I also wish that car manufacturers would allow a “minimalist option/spec” which has entertainment items such as screens removed from the car, significantly altering and lowering the price. I just don’t want a big af screen in my car nowadays, barely anyone uses it, it increases the price, can become outdated and im driving for the car, not for the tv. I plan on waiting a year or two for the new honda prelude or mr2 to come out and then having all the facelifts and versions to come out. I’ll be pissed that im no longer “buying a brand new on the market” car but I don’t wanna buy the inferior model for full price knowing that a facelift will be on it’s way which may fix issues that may be a problem for the pre-lift that might last it’s entire lifetime
My main issue with most modern cars. Is that they are so dull to drive. They might be faster, but older cars feel way more rewarding to drive because you can feel everything through the seats, pedals and steering wheel. (My reference point is from the cars that ive owned and a few dozen of new rental cars ive had to drive for work)
The thing i dislike about modern cars is the manufacturer trying to squeeze out every single penny they can. They ask for an enormous price and deliver a car that is pure plastic has a giant screen to make it “modern” and might be reliable until warranty wears off. I enjoy cars that have buttons for the major operations a nice shifter in the middle and at least solid feeling not squeaking plastic.
only manufacture I see doing it decently but still could bring back their no screen options with analog and Bluetooth is Lexus. my 2016 has no screen just Bluetooth and I love it. I wonder why they removed that
@@HowToSpec that’s cool wish more manufacturers did it. Is that fiat model the only one to do it? Lexus now offers just one screen which is fine but like you said we want something to be timeless hope they bring back the option 😭
I hate that you show an E90 with an iDrive as an example of an "old awful looking screen". You might say I'm biased, because I own one, but man. The interior with the screen is 10x better than without one. The screen is decent too. Resolution is good, navigation works better than Google Maps (with updated map data). The only complaint I can have is the technology limitations of the time. Old Bluetooth standards, slow USB ports and hard drive (you have to wait a few seconds after you turn on the car), but those things couldn't be done better. It's like expecting 1Tb/s transfers from modern USB ports. We aren't there yet. The only thing they could do is make it possible to retrofit faster stuff in the future, but firts of all. -It's going to make it more expensive and people buying it used in 20 years probably won't spend the money to upgrade it anyway -Current technology is at a point where it's "faster than us". We no longer need to wait for "loading" or "searching", like we did 20 years ago.
Your getting it wrong, you can buy what you like and keep it, the problem are the people who want to impress others. Warranty wise: you can actually extend the warranty for almost all brands, Mercedes up to 12, Porsche up to 15, BMW up to 12, Mazda up to 8 years etc. etc. and no, it’s actually not to expensive in comparison to the car prices
That’s the truth people don’t wanna hear lol. It’s a fear mongering Trojan horse to make us ready for 15 minute cities and no car ownership nor travel in any form.
Public transport is horrible. It can never be “good,” as it completely depends on the people who use it as well as you and there is no promise other people will be respectful and sanitary (I.e not smell awful)
@@Your-Local-RX-Guy look: i live in switzerland. We basically have one of the best public transportation systems worldwide. I am still driving a car (or bycicle in the city during summer). Why? Public transportation is slow, needs much more time and is not that much cheaper than a cheap 4 cylinder powered car. Also you have way too much people using public transportation. You will never find a place to sit down on your 1 hour train ride. The other problem is that a lot of drug addicts and weird, agressive and not working people use public transportation and you dont wanna be around them. So the car is the way to go. Personally I strongly agree thats one the reason why I really have a soft spot on older cars that doesn't mean I don't like newer cars tho I just don't like they don't last that much for such high price and the fact they have so many big screens everywhere that most people don't even use it's terrible that car companies just for money they make their build quality worse for them to last until the next facelift or gen comes out so customers have to pay an arm and a leg for the stupid high sticker price with also the stupid markup

People that just wanna buy what they love will never impress these people and they shouldn't want to either. Best advice with any community, buy/collect/and enjoy what you love and ignore the rest of the community in the process.
As for the whole cars evolving and getting an updated version years later I feel like that's the least of the problems cars now are getting (even then that's been an existing thing companies have been doing dude c'mon). Cars getting a special addition of something is fine imo, it shouldn't devalue the one you own anyways unless you're extremely insecure. The thing i hate is how hideous lots of cars are becoming and how many are starting or planning to switch to EV's. For normal people it's not a big deal but as a car guy having a car with no combustion engine feels just wrong. I'm not gonna act like I know what's better for the environment like a lot of people do, im just speaking from a personal opinion.
car manufacturers don’t want people to use their cars for as long as possible. the more cars they sell the more money they make. they don’t even care about emissions most of the time it’s just the taxes and fees they don’t want to pay so they abide by them. but if it was up to the manufacturers they would make you get a new car daily.
Few reasons why moderns cars sucks: 1. Government regulations: they make regulations that stringent the emission regulations, making the drivetrain and engine more complex and unreliable and safety regulations thar make the car heavier and equipped with complex features. 2. Because of the regulations, manufactures will spend more money regardless they want or not to follow by either spent the money to R&D or to pay penalty. In order to offset this expense, they make the parts unreliable and more expensive than before. 3. Consumers in general also want a vehicle that more comfortable, safer, flashier and easier to drive. This causes the manufactures must earn money elsewhere: spare parts sales. Like the second reason, this cause the unreliable and expensive parts bolted in the car. Unnecessary, shiny new features also caused by consumers that wanted those. The wanted to drive easier also causing the extinction of basic, manual transmission cars.
Bro, you're complaining about cars 80% of the population will never buy. Most people buy economy cars. Because they really don't care much about the badge.
Modern cars are ugly to look at. The interior in most modern cars is nothing but a bunch of screens taped together like the 7 series you mentioned. Someone commented on Nico Rosberg's new car blog that if they are buying a car that expensive then they'd expect it to not feel like they're sitting in a strip club(it was a reference to the interior ambient lighting). Nowadays it costs more to have less nonsense in the car,i.e Valkyrie.
@@HowToSpec at this point it feels like an excuse. I can understand the 992.2 thing because of the digital dash, abolition of the left side key but the 992.1 was definitely a good successor to the 991.2 considering all the regulations being pushed onto car manufacturers

I've honestly concluded people who like screens in cars should not be behind the wheel of one, i mean, all the real car enthusiasts I've seen and know absolutely despise this shit for very obvious reasons.
Your argument on facelifts and special editions is flawed, these cars spend years in R&D and require a lot of money to do so. You need time and money to develope and improve things, and a lot of the problems show up only after it has been released and they might also bring new ways to do things better. If you wait and wait and wait to have the 458 be the 458 speciale from the start you wouldnt have a car at all, cause guess what, for the speciale you can make the same argument
That f430 spider you described is literally my dream Ferrari, spwnt hours driving one in that spec in the original test drive unlimited, on another note though you cant really blame manufacturers, its just the way society currently is due to capitalism and prioritizing profit margins for the stock market over the actual quality of their product. Like you alluded to, cars like mercedes used to be "luxury" because of their high build quality and durability, now they're luxury because of their tech features and statistics, its not really the manufacturers fault, thats just what sells, and at the end of the day, they are a business
Capitalism isn’t the issue, it’s corporate greed and customers wanting things which make the car worse for us car saddos. But the F430 is so beautiful, I remember as a kid I’d play on some racing game arcade machine which had a scaled down F430 you sit in to play it. Very nostalgic car for me, just praying they stay “cheap” (I know £50-£80k isn’t exactly cheap, but you know what i mean. It’s cheap for a Ferrari and for how good the car is)

I could argue with you all day. New cars are needlessly expensive and you pay for things that are almost completely useless. New cars are much more unreliable than old cars. New cars don't have the capability of old cars, even suvs like the subaru forester doesn't have a hitch and most cars are awd now instead of 4wd. There are no affordable new cars anymore, and the cheapest ones are almost useless. Every new car has an old alternative that is better in every way, yes, even safety and comfort.
This video seems more like an attempt to make a unique “everybody wrong I’m right” opinion but nothing here makes sense lmao It doesn’t matter what you feel or think, it wasn’t any different back then at all. It was still who could make the best car on the market because that’s what happens when you have capitalism. You can’t pretend that car manufacturers back then somehow held back for the sake of “uhh less tech more reliable.” I don’t get what point you’re trying to make, if you want people to buy your product, your product has to shine and we’re in one of the most competitive industrys in the world. And this less tech bullshit argument about how people don’t want tech, that’s the biggest lie ever told. Imagine buying a new car in 2024 and it doesn’t come with the most basic features like CarPlay, the consumer isn’t gonna want that. If you don’t want tech, buy an old car, that simple. Also you said you wouldn’t buy that Ferrari because you don’t want people thinking you’re buying a budget Ferrari? That sounds like a you problem tbh lmao like what. “Yeah lemmie not buy my dream car because other people no like.” Also you said that for example, a tv in the back is cool but won’t hold value because technology is gonna catch up and every car is gonna have that. THATS LITERALLY THE POINT OF INNOVATION, MAKE EXPENSIVE LUXURY ITEMS CHEAPER, THATS A GOOD THING. And holy shit you did not say the car isn’t gonna hold value, if you buy a car as an investment, you’re a lost cause. All I got from this video is you’re mad at car manufacturers are updating their cars, and want to keep cool tech on expensive cars most can’t afford😂????
Also to the people who think cars are too expensive now, msrp of 2005 Corolla: 13,780 Msrp of 2024 Corolla: 22,050 13780 in 2005 adjusted for 2024 inflation is equivalent to 22,187 The price of a new Corolla, despite all your whining that tech increased the price sooo much, didn’t even keep up with inflation.
im sorry but this video is verry upsetting. anything can be improved. ferrari makes the best cars they feasibly can and push them further for those who need it. they dont make half baked cars to sell you the rest later, that what modern manufacturers do. these limited edition versions are what they can do with less restraints like time money other numbers. then when drivers want some more they add what they can. you want a perfect car, get one of the big 5.
maybe porsche does most of their cars are almost identical and its easy for them to make 100 versions of one car but ferrari makes special editions for the few that need it
Fuck dial gear shift or push button gear shift in new cars examples like the new range rover, the new civic and new the Ford expedition like wtf, they are horrendous, Less practical, more prone to problems I don't even know why someone in the car company would think of implementing that bs,its crazy that we are thinking backwards.

But instead manufactures focus on how could they keep running their business and thus intentionally make the vehicle flawed . if wasn't for greed we could have had some really capable cars today.
Blame cooperate greed
That's survivorship bias. Modern cars will survive longer. When looking at older cars right now you only see a small percent that survived. Most of the old cars already fell apart.
You seem to be a young man. I am an old one. Your video suggests you have just discovered consumerism and I commend you. Most people go through life without figuring this out. The only defence you have is to make choices based on what you need, not what you want and filter out all the noise around you. That also includes your friends.

anyone who thinks anything negative about you getting a 430 is not someone who should concern you. Not because “wheres your ferrari”, but because it is a great car with a great history and theres a reason why Ferrari as a company has weird “pretentious” rules. its so that people that disrespect their heritage can have whatever opinions from the outside. tldr that car will have you creaming in the seats fuck the onlookers. great start to a collection, great daily, great track, great all around. ferrari badge is cool but thats a real car if there ever was one
considering the start of the video though, leave the 430 for someone else plz

I HATE how quickly facelifts are done. It should be 5 years minimum before a facelift. That way most responsible people will have at least been able to pay off their current vehicles and make a wiser choice in whether or not to "upgrade" or not.
@@Adrianinhd it’s unfair, completely unfair. Imagine being the guy who gets his brand new 24reg M2 and then quite literally the day after the facelift has been announced. The cars only been on sale for a year or so, it’s ridiculous!

I do not see any problem with that.
0:32 this, this is my dream.
Yea, exactly that. We’re all incredibly wasteful
More people need to hear this!
I'd say that the shift to an interior without buttons is also going to get expensive to maintain in the future - cause what happens when its all screens, they stop working, AND the manufacturers dont support your model anymore?
This reason is why I own a 2009 VW Passat R36 & 2008 VW Golf R32
Haven't considered a brand new vehicle in the slightest.
May I ask which country
@@itried3168 Malaysia. 10km and 30 minutes drive from Singapore.
Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Subaru & Mazda are the only ones that can still last forever
There is something about Driving Vibe older cars that newer dont.
Like 1999 VW Bora aka Jetta mk.4
No screens, just simple dashboard and a radio, the driving experience is just more authentic than a 2013 Skoda Octavia.
(My reference point is from the cars that ive owned and a few dozen of new rental cars ive had to drive for work)
The major issue about modern cars are they are touchscreen crazy with the important controls e.g. air-con hidden in touchscreen.
You can say this for literally any manufactured product nowadays. Most things aren’t made to last.
dude I actually love this video, I hope you stay passionate about making youtube videos because I think you have lots of pottential.
Thank you!!!
nah fuck this, I'm balling with a Lada niva
The thing i dislike about modern cars is the manufacturer trying to squeeze out every single penny they can. They ask for an enormous price and deliver a car that is pure plastic has a giant screen to make it “modern” and might be reliable until warranty wears off. I enjoy cars that have buttons for the major operations a nice shifter in the middle and at least solid feeling not squeaking plastic.
only manufacture I see doing it decently but still could bring back their no screen options with analog and Bluetooth is Lexus. my 2016 has no screen just Bluetooth and I love it. I wonder why they removed that
Dacia does that too, and the base model fiat 500E.
@@HowToSpec that’s cool wish more manufacturers did it. Is that fiat model the only one to do it? Lexus now offers just one screen which is fine but like you said we want something to be timeless hope they bring back the option 😭
Good taste man i love the f430 too
That's why i'm in love with my 30 yr old BMW e36 and my almost* all the time reliable 2nd gen honda pilot :)
-It's going to make it more expensive and people buying it used in 20 years probably won't spend the money to upgrade it anyway
-Current technology is at a point where it's "faster than us". We no longer need to wait for "loading" or "searching", like we did 20 years ago.
"...we want to take the wine approach and not the milk approach when it comes to aging." 😂😂
Your getting it wrong, you can buy what you like and keep it, the problem are the people who want to impress others.
Warranty wise:
you can actually extend the warranty for almost all brands, Mercedes up to 12, Porsche up to 15, BMW up to 12, Mazda up to 8 years etc. etc. and no,
it’s actually not to expensive in comparison to the car prices
That's why you just need to live in the moment and be fine with what you drive

(Or the bycicle) (or the motorcycle)
My dads 2012 Citroën berlingo minivan 5 seats lasted 12 years older than me
i wanna sell my '02 Lesabre but the fear of getting something newer that isnt as simple to work on scares me

As for the whole cars evolving and getting an updated version years later I feel like that's the least of the problems cars now are getting (even then that's been an existing thing companies have been doing dude c'mon). I'm not gonna act like I know what's better for the environment like a lot of people do, im just speaking from a personal opinion.
car manufacturers don’t want people to use their cars for as long as possible. the more cars they sell the more money they make. they don’t even care about emissions most of the time it’s just the taxes and fees they don’t want to pay so they abide by them. but if it was up to the manufacturers they would make you get a new car daily.
bro background makes me dizzy isn't it too fast ?
From a design aspect it's all art....
2:48 how can you see such a big difference between the Porsches but 3:10 the teslas look too similar
Few reasons why moderns cars sucks:

New cars are needlessly expensive and you pay for things that are almost completely useless.
New cars are much more unreliable than old cars.

It doesn’t matter what you feel or think, it wasn’t any different back then at all.
Also to the people who think cars are too expensive now,
msrp of 2005 Corolla: 13,780
Msrp of 2024 Corolla: 22,050
13780 in 2005 adjusted for 2024 inflation is equivalent to 22,187
The price of a new Corolla, despite all your whining that tech increased the price sooo much, didn’t even keep up with inflation.
im sorry but this video is verry upsetting. anything can be improved. ferrari makes the best cars they feasibly can and push them further for those who need it. they dont make half baked cars to sell you the rest later, that what modern manufacturers do. these limited edition versions are what they can do with less restraints like time money other numbers. then when drivers want some more they add what they can. you want a perfect car, get one of the big 5.
maybe porsche does most of their cars are almost identical and its easy for them to make 100 versions of one car but ferrari makes special editions for the few that need it
Fuck dial gear shift or push button gear shift in new cars examples like the new range rover, the new civic and new the Ford expedition like wtf, they are horrendous, Less practical, more prone to problems I don't even know why someone in the car company would think of implementing that bs,its crazy that we are thinking backwards.
