Just so you know: the amount of coverage schools and parks give depend on the population density of an area it is being placed in. If you are placing it in a neighborhood, its range will go very far as there are only a few kids on each block. If you are placing it in a high-density block, it will only go 1-3 blocks out as each apartment building has dozens and dozens of children. The same applies to the park capacity as you (theoretically) don't want them to overfill.
Awesome! Thanks for the info! Good to know.
Most important question, how do you fix your high density zones with elementary schools? If I understand you right, and you might be right as I look at it, you will have 3 elemantary schools in a block
@tounssssss9258 it’s a little crazy when it comes to high density. They don’t need a ton of education as rent cost are lower.
As long as there is some coverage you should be fine.
There is a cool 4 elementary school block you can build in key areas. Each elementary can have one playground and one child health extension. Looks like a mega school
The additions to some buildings are definitely awesome
I think what nobody is talking about: Just because there is demand for something (talking about zoning, not the commercial shops having no customers/goods) does not mean you have to build it. It just shows what your people need at the moment. But this changes with the time, as your sims education progresses etc.
What really helped me a lot, was just not overbuilding everything the whole time. Take it slow, think about where certain districts make sense etc.
I mentioned this as well. Demand doesn’t mean build it right now. You need to convince the citizens to ditch low density.
@@ChasetotheFinishyou could be a politician 😂, convince the people they don't need this and that
For me I have the exact opposite. Pretty much as soon as I unlocked medium density, I haven't had demand for low density housing in ages. I have no idea how to go about getting houses in my city, it has become NYC pretty much, only apartments.
Any way to see a picture of your city? Maybe join the discord?
@@ChasetotheFinish sure, I'd like to join the discord 😁, I'm gonna send a screenshot when able
I wish I had this issue lmao
Nice tips man . Trying them while watching . Confirmed on the taxes . That works well . Thanks
Awesome! Don’t forget to check out the Build With Me series to follow with on building the city.
The school issue is a road issue +population density issue. So i wish they would add more types of mixed zoning. So in real life cities schools are kinda everywhere. They should also add "federal funding" and grants for educational programs. That would help off set costs. Would be cool! Plus like the previous campus dlc it would be nice.
Yeah I don’t see how a school would need to be placed every block to have coverage. Makes no sense.
This isn’t working for me. I had a block with tons of people saying rent was too high. I rezoned it to row homes, but nothing is being built. But this area also has low land volume, which is odd as to why they were saying rent is too high. Any tips?
I have to say tho, if you leave the low density demand too high for too long, Cims will start complaining about high rent as it will start raising for the simple offer vs demand effect. You actually need to tackle at some point, otherwise, you'll start losing population. I hope Colossal see that we are struggling and need more info and release some sort of official statement, or info view that would allow us to understand why the rent is too high for certain poeple.
Like yeah, once I click on those Cims and see that they are poorly educated living in a low density zone, I understand that maybe their jobs are not that great, but having to do that with every Cim becomes a really tedious task. Having and info view that averages the main causes of that complain would be great.
The rent will only raise if you’re not offering new places to live for people. Even removing services in areas will lower rent.
The key is to hold off until you get the demand you need then tackle items as needed
@@ChasetotheFinish Yeah, I agree on that. Residential demand is like a monster, that will grow the more you feed it.
However, that little overlap period where you are educating your citizens and waiting for land value to go up really is a test on patience. The best you can do is attend the other demands you have as creating more jobs will attract more people who will initially, will want to live in the residential low density areas.
But, if you make your already existing low densitiy res areas expensive, they will want to move to medium or even high density.
Im having every issue you're having. As much as im enjoying the game i do think these issues need fixed. Always complaing about healthcare, hearses and not enough customers etc. Ive been reading the forms and everyone else is getting the same problems. Lets just hope they fix all the bugs soon. Also great video man, really helpfull
I’m doing the build with me series (new video daily) I’m working on trying to find the fixes to these problems in this series. May even finish this town to Megalopolis and then start a new one with a different goal to see what is the correct way to do things.
I want more low density
put in 120 hours in 10 days and still having these issues sooo idk. seems like theres always a problem which i guess how irl is 😂
youre seem kinda cool, funny and yet knowlegable. Consider me subscribed :3
Thank you! I just try to have a good time and be passionate about what I do. The games that I play are ones I like so it won’t ever be a bad video
thanks man!
No problem! I got a ton of new videos coming out. Even a few for How to start your city and not run out of money.
Really enjoying this game but there is a definite learning curve.
@@ChasetotheFinish there some weird thing with importing/exporting goods via train or cargo ship
Dude your city is so beautiful. Mine is constantly near $0, never have green income, traffic is stupid, and is just a massive suburb
i get a lot of demand but nobody builds for medium , high or low rent density they just build for low density it´s so annoying
Do not place low density down anymore. Just put down the medium and high and try to use high density commercial and offices if you have them.
Follow along with the Build With Me series that I’m doing and you’ll get a ton of insights to what I’m doing to make my city make a ton of money and grow how I want it.
Hi, is there any mood to improve? I having same problem. My city is 300k people
I don't know why row houses and apartaments don't have parking lots or garages.
More mailboxes, needs more mail sorting.
It was the cargo terminals. Post sorting facility only works if your post offices can’t handle the sorting load - I had 6 and they should’ve been processing at around 75-100k a month each. They only were doing 15-20k each.
I removed the cargo terminals and they started working again and I actually have since shut down the post sorting facility as it was doing nothing at all.
Never changed mailboxes or anything.
I have a question, lets say that you've already built a bunch of low density residential housing already with streets that bend and curve, how am I supposed to transition those neighborhood to medium if the streets are not really suited to medium density buildings? Because most of my city is curvy roads.
Honestly, redesign the road layout. Don't be afraid of the bulldozer. Cities are constantly remodeling land uses to meet demands
This!
Sorry, but it makes me crazy to see you how to build the highway in both directions. In the bottom left corner is a button with two vertical bars. Than you can build highways, traintracks, etc parallel. The different direction of travel is set automatically😉.
Otherwise good video and thanks for the tips👍
Unsure of where you are talking about? I didn’t build any highways in this video?
I can't read any of your comments. Neither under mine, nor for the other posts. But it I can see, that you have commented
@wapitituer9777 very weird. Check into my next video- I’ll build the highways correctly lol!
@@ChasetotheFinish Oh, I watched the newest video of "JumboPixel" before yours. And the problem with no shown comments is only on my mobile phone🙈🙈😅
I feel like my game must be bugged or something. I never struggled to create demand for medium and high density housing, but in my current playthrough, all I have is low density demand... land value is high, everyone is complaining about high rent, I have medium zones already... there is just no shift. I've also played around with taxes like taxing less educated people more, I've raised education levels overall, I've taxed industries that require less education like commercial and industry higher to create more demand for office space... idk what else to do. my low density demand remains high no matter what I do while I cannot create any demand for medium or high density residential zones...
Lower taxes on highly educated and offices to 6% - as well - place a ton of offices so the suitability for low density goes up. Sometimes I get hit with the low res curse but I just build 3 neighborhoods and do the office trick with it and it always works for me. Check out my 2 latest videos of Cities Skylines and see if I’m doing anything differently than you.
@@ChasetotheFinish cheers thank you for your tips
You are the Goat
Don’t forget to watch more videos that I’m posting! I got a lot of good info being posted!
can u make a video about how to make money in the new game im struggling rn
I'm on it!
Check Out the Build With Me Series on the Channel - it will run you through how I got my city to where it is at.
schools and crematoriums suck you need so many i have a 300k city and i have 24 crematoriums and still its not enough, schools in every street is not enough. and high density even builds with no services, i placed high density and no low or medium and they still build the skyscraper
Luckily you don’t need education for high density most of the times and even so you only need minor coverage. However my new city has no issues. (Check it out on the channel) over 7k people and not a peep.
You said words starting with go about 300 times in this video. Just an observation.
I’ll make a counter next time
Bro took an Addy and studied the wrong thing on accident
i have problem… my cites wont grow low and medium… only high desity will grow
How far are you along? Are you on the “everything unlocked mode?
@@ChasetotheFinish yup all unlocked mode….
Same issue for me when doing that. Super slow to grow.
Looks like sandbox mode isn’t working properly unfortunately.
Too much high density makes people crazy and hateful
Stack n pack is for sardines
Open space, views of fields, grass and hills not the tops, windows of other apts
The smell of grass, not exhaust, the sound of birds not car horns
My spirit cries for nature not concrete.
I live in Europe and im not crazy and hateful
